HP TouchSmart Desktop PC eSATA connection 300-1020?

I have a HP 300-1020 Desktop TouchSmart.  I'm trying to connect a Thermaltake BlacX 2.5 "" / 3.5 "SATA HDD, eSATA & USB docking Station."  It came with two cables: USB and eSATA.  The {very detailed not} statements have two cables being connected to the desktop computer, but I can't find any eSATA port.  I don't want to plug into a classical USB port for fear of spoiling something.  The instructions say nothing about either / or Setup.

Is it possible to use only the USB connection?  Additional hard drive will be used for storage only, so I'm not too concerned with speed.

Thank you very much

sweeneyfry

As with most the exteranl drives, it should not matter if you use a connection style or the other. The instructions I read online status ' esata / usb "is either or a situation.  There should be no problem using the USB drive or the system.  The emergence of external storage with a USB 3.0 interface has much to do with eSATA not available.  USB 3.0 is more friendly (especially with Win8) PnP and offers higher performance eSATA. Hope that helps you.

I am an employee of HP.

Kind regards

  • HP TouchSmart 300-1020: buttons HP Support Assistant diagnostic Test does not

I have HP Support Assistant version 7.7.34.34, which - I think - is the right version for my TouchSmart from HP with Windows 7 64-bit 300-1020.

When I try to run a diagnostic test (optical drive, USB key, sound card test, test test the printer, hard drive, keyboard, map chart, microphone, mouse), the button snaps (with mouse) for diagnosis, tests do not work.

Basically... I click on the button for the desired... diagnostic test and nothing happens!

Troubleshooting apparently buttons function very well... click on one and a convenience store starts.

What can I do to "solve" the problem of Diagnostics button?  Thank you!

  • HP 300-1020: recovery questions

    Hi all

    HP Touchsmart 300-1020 all-in-one

OS is Windows 7 64 bit

I recently bought the Touchsmart 300-1020 and many issues.  I intend to do a factory reset to solve most if not all of the questions, but when I put in place the Recovery Manager, it does not give me the choice to reset to factory conditions without the help of recovery disks.

Is it because the 300-1020 was not manufactured with a recovery partition recovery without disks using wildly or could the partition have been corrupted somehow?

The next step was to make a record of recovery, but but the creation of HP recovery disks does not see the recovery partition.  To quote the message, "the recovery partition is not found" Image icon factory next to the HP (C indicates 12.7 GB free of 12.8 GB.)  There is no files contained in FACTORY_IMAGE (D in addition, at the opening of the creation of recovery disks, I read that it could be a set of recovery disks created.)

If the first owner created these disks, which would be why there is no files in the original Image (D?)

Next, I decided to do the best I could to fix the problems manually, but they proved to be many.  There seems to be issues with "Touchsmart Homepage" as well.   Photos see toward the top in the home page but music and videos in different files are not visible.  It seems that the best move is to buy the necessary dics and get things to normal as far as I can get them again.

Which leads to the third question and I hope I was descriptive enough for someone to answer: a set of recovery disks will bring this computer to a State factory reviewing the questions I mentioned with particular reference to the absence of the recovery partition?

Thanks for all the tips.  I think that I have now found the right place for what will be displayed.

    Ambico

All new HP computers come with a recovery partition.  It is possible that the original owner somehow altered the recovery partition or delete its content.

The only way to bring the computer back to life would be to order the HP recovery discs.

  • Satellite A500 - 1 GB - copy dialog crashes on the eSATA connection

    Hello

    I have trouble when using my Samsung storyboard (1.5 TB, eSata/USB 2.0) with the Satellite A500 - 1 GB (Windows 7 64-bit):

    (a) when you use the connector eSata (preferred):
The drive is recognized by the system, and I can read the directory information. But I cannot copy or play the disc. The copy dialog box freezes quickly and cannot be terminated easily.

    (b) when you use the USB connector:
It is also recognized by the system, but copy and read operations take ages - I have tried to make a backup of the system, but cancelled after 5 hours.

The drive works fine with another PC (also Windows 7 x 64), so the drive itself should be ok.

I've updated satellite drivers today (BIOS, chipset and responsible storage), but this did not improve the situation at all.

The question is probably, due to the 150 versus Protocol SATA 300 SATA? A500 - 1 GB does support SATA 300 (SATA 2) or just SATA 150 (1 SATA)? Is there a specific SATA driver (Intel?) I might give a try? Where could I check who is currently SATA-used protocol?

Or do you have other clues on how I could solve this problem?

    Best regards

    Hello

Theoretically, your external hard drive eSATA connection could be defective so have you tested the USB connection only on your other PC or eSATA too?
In addition, you should test another cable, I had a USB cable, did the same problem and after Exchange of cable, everything was ok.

There is no special driver for it on the eSATA connection. I think that it s part of the chipset driver for reinstall the chipset driver could also be helpful.

  • Toshiba Stor.E D10 on Satellite A660 PSAW3E esata connection

    Hello!!!

A few days ago, I bought a 1.5 to Toshiba Stor.E D10 eSATA HARD drive.
I tried to connect it via the eSATA cable. At first I saw my D10 HDD 1.5 in Win explore (Win 7 Home Premium x 64) as drive E.
When I tried to access the drive, I get a "device not ready" error I was expecting 5 minutes with HARD drive connected externally. I got the same error. When you look in the Device Manager in the records section I couldn't see it. All I see is the internal 640 GB HARD drive.
When I connect it via the USB 2.0 connection, the drive is recognized and working properly. I could transfer data to this subject with 23MBps max on USB 2.0 speed is 60MBps (480 Mbps).
As I work with huge video files (~ 10 GB per hour of video) I need an eSATA connection to expedite the transfer.

Plese help me with this problem!

I recently changed internet service providers and now my Wired desktop can't connect to the internet.  I noticed that the connection is showing 'Automatic private address' can I connect all my fine wireless devices.  I did extensive troubleshooting with my service provider, but they suggest that my master's degree network adapter must be replaced.  I updated the driver, and the device manager says it's working properly. If I connect the same wire for my laptop, it works fine.  This is just my office.  Any ideas how can I fix?

  • HP Touchsmart 300-1020 system restore

Hello, I have a PC HP Touchsmart 300.  I recently sent in for repair and it works very well for a few months.  They replaced the motherboard and the hard disk.  My brother somehow got some malware on the PC so I decided to do a system restore on it.  Whenever I do a restoration of one of the discs of recovery or the recovery partition, it gives me an error saying: Recovery Manager cannot restore your computer by using the image with.  Please contact HP support.  Error code: 0xe0ef0003.  What can I do to solve this problem and to restore?

    Hello

I don't think your recovery partition can be damaged and the only option for you is to order the Kit of the RRS from HP in order to restore your windows to original state.

You are still able to get into windows? If so, try to create the RRS Kit, if you can't, try to order the Kit by using the information that I posted below.

      Thank you for your help

    Hello:

You are right. You must install an operating system on the hard drive.

    You have two choices...

1 order a set of recovery discs HP which will reinstall the operating system and all programs provided with your PC by clicking on the link below and then click the link to order recovery media.

    2. your own installation of W7 media and use the product key 25-character Windows 7 on your PC case to activate the installation.

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive using the USB compilation method.

Use the product key of windows 7 of 25 characters to activate your installation.

  • Cannot select boot without keyboard - Touchsmart 300-1020 option

Yesterday at 02:00 my touchsmart came in itself, so I turned it off in my sleep.  This morning I turned it on and it is stuck to the windows page asking you to choose me Recovery (recommended) or start Windows normally.  After a countdown from 30 seconds, * beep * starts all over.

The news suggests that the computer was turned off during a windows update... entirely possible... I was asleep!

The problem is this: I can't choose anything because it does not recognize the USB or bluetooth keyboard, so I can't select start Windows normally, much less run all tests.

I replaced the batteries in the keyboard and plugged a usb keyboard... obviously that didn't work.  If I have a recovery disk I have no idea where it is, or if he would seek from DVD player without being able to select an option in the BIOS.

    Any ideas?

You won't believe this, but here's what worked: a USB to Mac keyboard.

Yes, that's true.  After trying my Dell keyboard in all USB ports, I decided to try one of my Mac keyboards.  Worked perfectly, now Windows ends, it's 'Do not turn Power Off' installation.

A round of applause for Apple please.

  • Apple Remote Desktop tries to connect to some weird areas

Firefox and osx elcapitan 10.11.4 15E65

It's so weird that lately my ARD tried to connect to areas randomly I searched on the web. Little Snitch reports she's trying to connect to 'gist.github' and the other day he tried to goto "krampus".  As I said it's strange behavior since it's the kind of thing I entered in google.

    All advice is appreciated.

I would be a little surprised if Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) have been connecting the specified web sites, you can post what Little Snitch reports as the source and the destination of the connection?  Also please post what version of Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) are you using?   3.8 (A 380, 95) is in course, at last I checked.

My general recommendation is to remove Little Snitch - this is a great tool, but it also tends to cause problems when network connections are blocked by mistake, and it's certainly excellent fodder for causing paranoia.

Adware and malware can cause this, but - if you connect to these sites and don't have adware or malware or any sort of anti-virus or anti-malware, or other similar types of tools tools additional loading - I guess it's OS X hides a tile or such.

Here is a previous related discussion - even if it is not of the ARD.

  • HP Officejet 4500 Desktop does not connect properly

I have a HP Officejet 4500 desktop computer.  I just finished with the CD that came with it.  I then put in the USB cord and he said: it is not connected.  Please help me.

I really did a lot of research here to the course of action to take following the easier to understand.  In Windows 7, the menu options start to activate the USB connection in a wireless is easy to find. In Windows 8, it is quite difficult to find.  If this does not work, you have more chance to uninstall and reinstall the printer if you don't have any options to scan.  Here is my suggestion:

    1. first of all, try to scan using the HP Solution Center.  You can have the printer icons two on the left side of the solution Center.  Ensure the right one is selected and you are trying to scan.  If this fails, record the error here for me please.

2 to get the Setup menu, press the Windows key and the letter R to get the run of pop up screen.

    3. type in programdata % and in this folder click Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > programs > HP.  Here you see "Add a printer" or "set up wireless?  That's how you get to the second part of the installation at the prompt is displayed to add a wireless printer.

Again, if you do not see it or a hard time finding it, you can have to uninstall the printer and restart it to see if it brings more options installation.  If you care to have multiple copies of the same printer, you might see if you install full feature software and drivers (link is for Windows 8 64 bit en) without first uninstalling the printer will also implement the options you need to connect a wireless printer.  I hope this helps.  Check out all of my links for more information on this topic.
