  If you use recovery DVD, I see two reasons it: is recovery damaged DVD and some data of DVD cannot be read properly or the HARD drive has a problem.

I'm at my wit's end because I NEED FF for applications work which will not come through IE because of the policy of the company. I need serious help or I'm screwed.

  Hello, normally these problems are caused by a security/firewall software which does not recognize and therefore blocks the new versions of firefox.
