  HP solved the problem free of charge, including shipping in both directions and repair.

  It took ten days in total, and we used the laptop without a problem for about 10 days more.

  It seems that the hinges for laptop and the display case were entirely replaced, and no data has been lost.

  My son is thrilled to have his laptop in return, and to my eyes, HP just went through.

  I wouldn't hesitate to buy another HP product, although I confess in the hope that:

  (1) HP manufacuring no longer uses defective parts

  (2) HP treats everyone with this problem of hinge with the same care

  Enter in recovery mode to perform F11 key start and go to to solve menu. Help on menu, click Refresh Pc.This will remove windows updates and uninstall all of the programs in the program (x 86) no program files on the C: DRIVE or the drive where windows is installed. The list of uninstalled programs will appear on your desktop as a Applications.html.Your deleted documents and other files will remain unchanged. Hope this helps

  PS: I ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM 2 MONTHS AGO. I WAS STUCK IN A REBOOT LOOP. THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR ME.

  Recently, I tried upgrading my laptop RAM 8 GB which is max you may have to wait. The RAM sticks were (x 2) DDR3 4 GB Samsung 1600 12800 mhz 1.35v. The system has detected the new RAM, showed the new memory and even spent the memory test. But this isn't the windows startup. I tried to clear CMOS. But without success. Do not let me windows. BIOS version is up to date (F29). Is there any setting for this?

  It seems that the 4 GB is the maximum (2 GB in each slot) that is supported in this laptop and installed equipment.

  Actually, the manual says if I just read that Trail Bay models have 2 memory slots. I am skeptical. Is yours have a coverage of service for memory? If this isn't the case, it will require removal of the motherboard to access.

  It seems that DDR3L-1600 memory is compatible with all versions of this model of laptop, even if some will be downclock at 1333.
