HttpConnection on BIS data without default APN data plan

Hi all

Excuse me to be here with a question about the tecniques of connection to be used to access a web resource.

I was asked to create a blackberry application targeting the 4.6.1 version of the framework that will be used in Italy. The test device that I was assigned for my test is a 8250 with BIS data plan and no APN configuration provided by the carrier: it is a very common configuration here in Italy, and my goal (read as 'my bind') is to make a call to a web service without requiring the user to specify the data of the AFN.

I have not tried to make a connection using the «;» deviceside = false' before you understand that I'm not in a BES environment, so I can't use the MDS

I failed with the «;» deviceside = true' the directive because he says he owes the APN configuration

I failed with the «;» deviceside = false; ConnectionUID = uid"because the function specified in what - in different ways to establish an HTTP connection or socket always return a null as the uid value (perhaps because WAP is not configured for my device)?

My only victory is when you use the WiFi connection but, of course, the requirements must have an application always available.

Then. Did I miss something or my only chance for my needs is to buy an Alliance partnership and can then in the BIS - B connection type?

Thanks in advance,

Alessandro

There is a back door to gain access to BIS - B.

Complete an application for the Push service (free).  This example uses BIS - B.  You do not have to use the PUSH service, but you will have access to the BIS-B.

If I understand well (from conversations with RIM to the DevCon) RIM have not yet got round to BIS - B available at all, because they have not had the time to do the thing in legal agreements they need you.  but it is already included in the push service.

So no need for Alliance members, simply use the Push service.

I'm trying to find time to update my post of network with this information, all by providing a network code that works, using a new RIM provided the code on the wireless networking.  but the work continues to go down the route.

  • Z10 Z10 blackBerry on a normal data plan (not BIS)

After researching if the Z10 operates on a data plan normal and not a BIS and of course it worked perfectly on Wi - Fi without a SIM card, wanted to just make sure that they are compatible with a normal cellular data plan, I went for it yesterday and Yes, everything worked except BBM, hell the BlackBerry logo disappeared from the home screen. I have contacted my provider and they shocked me, they told me it is not possible to not have an ENCORE with the Z10, and they were surprised, I was able to browse the net and send and receive e-mails, and they said they cannot support me!
So why did I do that? A normal data plan is cheaper here, in the UNITED Arab Emirates, my cancelled BIS gave me 500 MB to 79AED, and the normal data plan gives me 1 GB for 50AED. Is there no work around for this before that I have to go back?

    Hey ya3goub,

Welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums.

    Thanks for the question.

10 blackBerry smartphones require a data plan normal of your network service provider.  However the network service provider must support BlackBerry 10, otherwise some BlackBerry services will not work.

Also BIS data plans are not available for smartphones BlackBerry 10.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    See you soon.

I not have data plan with tmobile, I connect my phone to my wifi at home. It says it is connected and I am able to use internet. However, I can't use facebook etc, line, whats app, app world.  I tried so many ways.

    1. I have reload the operating system. He works on the right path. However, as soon as I leave the House (wifi zone), I no longer works when I get back.

    2. remove the sim card and battary

    3. I went to the office of information TECHNOLOGY, and they said it is blackberry app world not internet problem

    4. go to T-mobile, and he cannot understand what is wrong with my phone.

What should I do? Help, please.

    1. you went to what COMPUTER desk?

    2. you have your phone number listed in your profile... Here on the left, under your name. It is not wise to display your phone number in public forums like this. You can change your profile above on this page by clicking my settings.

    3. you will definitely need a BlackBerry BIS data plan for most all BlackBerry data services a functions. AppWorld you should be able to use WiFi only.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones pop3 e-mail set up without BES, BIS, or data plan

I just bought an unlocked storm2 free and clear - no contract (upgraded from curve without data plan). I have continuous wi - fi, as my internet company offers me unlimited wi - fi access wherever I go in the USA, so my plan is to access my mail via a wi - fi connection.

Pop3 e-mail is established as possible without data plan, BIS or BES? Is there a 3rd party email application available for blackberry as well as for the pc where you can set up software left 3rd (ms outlook, ms express, etc.) for your email.

Now the only way I can verify that my email address is in you connecting to the internet via wi - fi and going to my Internet service provider's web site. It's a chore, but as I have to go through several steps before I can actually check my email.

Thank you. I just looked at gmail and I think it is the best solution right now for email via wi - fi. In fact, he let me do a pop3 e-mail, set up (or imap in option), so I'm good. I check emails fast.

Another option, I looked in must simply send my emails from MS Outlook to one of these email service based on the web (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc), but ultimately, gmail is the best option because of its pop3 / imap capabilities.

  • How to do an http Basic by wifi connection just without data plan?

Ok. Here's the situation: I have developed an application that makes a connection http Basic (connector.open (url)). It woks fine on Simulator course since it uses the mds Simulator. I'm targeting os 5 and above. Now I started to test on the actual device (curve 9300). The real problem is how can I go out with just a default connection. I mean a generic that doesn't care what type of transport, the phone has and uses only the default. As you know has 9300 WiFi. So hopefully I should be able to connect using my wifi at home. On the phone, I can establish connection wifi fine. The phone's browser do not allow through well. He complains: (error! wifi detected...) We are not able to authenticate you as you are not currently a Rogers... Please turn off your wifi connection, and launch your browser to try again). Well, if it means that I'm not on Rogers, it is not correct, as my base phone package is with Rogers, the SIM set in the phone. I tried his suggestion and of course, it does not work!

What encourages me that it should work in principle, but I have two phone applications (Opera mini and google map) who are able to go online and make the connection.

I tried to use a combination of parameters attached to the url, as follows:

    1. just by default without any parameter

    2 - deviceside = true

    3 - deviceside = true; = wifi interface

I also experimented with different options on options tcp apn:

    1 disabling APN setting

2-activation parameter APN with internet.com, with comments from user and password

setting of AFN 3 activation internet.com with wapuser1 and wap for the user name and password.

To "manage connections", I have the following question similarly checked:

    -Network mobile Rogers...

    Dlink_RezaNetwork - Wi - Fi...

    -BlueTooth feature is disabled

I wonder out exactly the Mobile network connection? I guess that's my basic phone plan puts online. I will be happy if that's the case for my app by there rather than the wifi connection if that is indeed what Opera mini and google map. But sorry to disappoint you, because even if I disable the first connection (i.e. Mobile network Rogers...) I am still able to use these two apps without problem! It makes me happy because it difinitely says I should be able to go online using only my wifi without data plan!

On connection icons at the top of the phone to the right, I see the following

    Rogers - dlink.RezaNetwork 3 G (icon of the resistance)

    WiFi

As you can see, my phone is connected to the wifi in my house.

Anyway, after all this detail, anyone know if there is a solution to this problem? I mean google map and Opera Mini are able to go online without problem.

In full respect, please don't refer me to read this or that doc I did those before you come and ask questions. But even if there is a doc that you think really go to address above concerns more precisely I'll gladly read

I use eclipse for development and just well on Simulator.

This is the result I get when I run the app through the eclipse on the device:

    (1) for the case when only a Wifi connection is enabled on the device connector.open (url) is called with no additional parameters, I get the error: net.rim.device.internal.io.criticalioexception: required radio isn't avtive.

    (2) for the case with wifi interface parameter defined as follows:

    String connStr = _theUrl + "; interface = wifi. "
    s = (connStr) Connector.open (StreamConnection);
    HttpConnection httpConn s = (HttpConnection);
    InputStream input = s.openInputStream ();

There is no error reported, even though I capture all the exceptions of open(). But the stream returned is always empty!

    Thanks again.

    Just an update:

The problem took over the redirect. It was a subject, I admit, I was quite familiar with. So, once read on responses from http status, the solution was easy. Also is it possible to simply use the wifi connection for http connections in the code. The build in the browser is another story and it depends on how the connection preferences are managed internally by the os and carrier I suppose, but lance in the code browser works very well, with just wifi traffic.

  • An other 'Wifi without data plan"blackBerry smartphones Question - Rogers Canada

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and blackberries in general... Please bear with me.

I am a student. Currently, I have a voice plan base on a LG Xenon with Rogers in the Canada. It includes minutes and unlimited texting. Enough for me.

I am looking to buy a Blackberry Curve 3 G/9300 off someone. I just want to throw my SIM in there so I can use my normal plan with the phone. My understanding is that I can phone Rogers and tell them to block all data, if I get no charge on my Bill. Fine. However, I also understand that the 9300 is a wi - fi phone.

Let's say that I get the 9300, contact Rogers and tell them to block all data on my plan.
Can I still use my browser in a Wi - Fi hotspot? How should I do? (I know that I read somewhere that you need to configure to be about to access and not talkspot... If someone could help me with this that would be great).

Also, I read that, so that I am still able to use a wi - fi connection, I need to have data 'on' in the phone. If the data is 'on' in the phone, but I've blocked data with Rogers, can I still use a wi - fi connection? This would prevent the costs of data on my Bill?

In addition, I understand that I will not be able to receive multimedia messages without a data plan. Once again, if I'm in a wi - fi hotspot... Can I receive these messages from photos?

I'm sure it's a question very well known and well hated to you all and I'm really sorry to ask, but I just need some clarification. I don't want to be stuck with a big Bill with I ever intend on paying data charges. If someone could help me with this, I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you very much!

In addition, I understand that I will not be able to receive multimedia messages without a data plan. Once again, if I'm in a wi - fi hotspot... Can I receive these messages from photos? No only simple navigation cannot be made and Pandora can be used in mode Wi - Fi.

  • Using Palm Pre Plus on Verizon without data plan?

    Hello people,

I'm trying to find out if it is possible to use a Palm Pre Plus on Verizon without data plan.

Right now I have six years old phone clamshell and an iPod touch in my pocket, and I'm looking to consolidate. In addition, locked position of Apple don't gives me the warm shudder blur. WebOS from Palm running on the emulator gives me the warm fuzzies.

Research on the issue with Google, I saw other people ask the question at the time was the Sprint Pre only. Apparently the Sprint did not yet allow activation of the phone without a data plan. In addition, the question of whether the palm profile account can be installed over wifi there.

I also met photos showing that WebOS 1.2 would have a toggle to disable the use of the map data.

So people, you guys what do you think? Is it possible that this is possible? Thank you!

I suggest you look at www.precentral.net work is around like this. It is outside my area of support, but I'm sure you can find what you need there message board.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones download App World Apps without a data plan

    Hello

I have a Curve 8320 thru ATT, and I was wondering if there is a way to download apps from the App World without having a data plan fee? It seems a shame that there are some useful applications that do not require the internet or a web browser to work and I would be able to download them. I know that the FAQ in the support section said her need but I was hoping that there was another way. I appreciate anyones help with this. Thank you.

Well, there is a solution available probably in many cases. For example, AppWorld is nothing more than a large Center commercial... is not the manufacturer of the finished product. So, we could guess that search the apps you want and go directly to the application developer, bypassing AppWorld and carrier entirely. This might work... but I guess I should not formally recommend such an approach... so don't say no matter who!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BiS or data Plan

Is it necessary to have BIS access to emails, will be the only provider Mobile Data Plan would be enough.

    Hello

See this FAQ for more information:

Note that it is generic... with hundreds of carriers in the world with dozens of different data plans, it is impossible for anyone other than them to respond to the specificity of your question. But, generally speaking, a data plan that allows the BIS is indeed necessary to send to the function.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones new owner without data Plan Questions

This is my first post here, yesterday I received my new BB Curve 8900 from T-Mobile. I spent some time playing with the phone yesterday and of course I have a few questions.

I chose to do not to get the data plan from T-Mobile for two reasons. One, I don't have many friends with BB if I wouldn't get many people to BBM. Second, I don't have much of a need for e-mail and internet while I travel. For me, the cost of the data plan doesn't make sense.

That being said, it is possible to access his mail without the data plan (via wifi)? I know that I can't do 'BB Push' and is not a problem, but on my old phone (Nokia E71) I could just set the phone with my email accounts and access it using the WiFi at school or at home. I was able to get the BB browser to access my home wi - fi so I could go to the Web sites, but no luck with the e-mail. I guess I could use the email by logging in on the site of my school or AOL/GMail.com, but seems very not. Is it possible to do this, or perhaps there is an app that I could use to receive email via Wi - Fi?

I read a lot of posts on here talking about how BB is "paralyzed" without the data plan, but honestly I don't know if a few hundred extra dollars a year is justifiable.

    Thank you!

  • Travel - iMessage without data Plan?

I'm on a long trip and having some problems with my iDevices and missing my laptop... but anyway...   I had a local with a minutes and SMS plan Sim Card, but the data is too expensive so I gave.

I wish I could iMessage (send and receive) while WiFi, like many friends use iMessage.  I would also like to SMS while not on WiFi because I have not a data plan and SMS is the only way I can communicate (cheap).

Is this possible?  I met problems with messages from people that I sent SMS as their response goes into my account to iMessage.

Also, I tried to disable iMessage just mysteriously turn during the night, for some reason any.  Why we do this?  Is it because I'm on iMessage on my iPad?  iReally have no idea.

Any help clarifying just how I can make communication work with my iDevices would be appreciated.  I don't want to have to buy a burner not expensive to connect Android phone.

    Thank you!!

iMessage will certainly work over wifi just fine, no matter where.  iMessage only requires an Internet connection, but doesn't care if it's wifi data or cell - so no cellular data but wifi is fine.

SMS texts however, by definition, require a cellular telephone and the service.  They do not use a wifi or cellular data channel.  Specifically, they are nailed to a small unused portion of cell vocal range.  The only way to send SMS texts through wifi would be to use a middle-tier application or a web service, or to use the e-mail and send to e-mail recipients specific carrier SMS gateway.
