Hyberfil.sys file

Do the CHKDSK command, only problem found a bad cluster that windows has replaced name hiberfil.sys. Checking is at step 5 5 55% verified. Should I consider buying a new hard drive?  I read that I have to disable hibernation, then delete the file...

You shouldn't give up on your hard drive based on this bit of evidence.  You can visit the website of the manufacturer of your hard drive (probably from Western Digital, Seagate and Toshiba, decreasing probability) and get their diagnostic program.  You can delete hiberfil.sys and it will be recreated.  You can do the same thing by disabling the Hibernate, restart, and then turn it back on.

    Please guide me.

Hiberfil is used for the hibernation.  You can't set the size.  It is a function of the amount of RAM you have.  If you don't use hibernation you can completely eliminate the file by typing powercfg-h off in an elevated command prompt.  (Start > run > cmd > right click > run as administrator)

  • Satellite M115-S30394 - config.sys file is corrupt

    I bought a Satellite M115 S 30394 is about 2 years.
The first year he had 9 hard drives and Toshiba said they replaced the motherboard 2 times.

It still does not work and the senario is first a message that the config.sys file is corrupt and after correcting it will work for a few days, then a message appears that the hard drive is about to fail and he does it in 2 days.

I replaced because he couldn't be trusted in my company but I was wondering if someone has any ideas so that I can have as a spare.

    Thank you

    Hello

If you get the message that the HARD disk fails, then it s advisable to replace it.
But it s really strange question

In any case, I never had this problem on one of my notebooks, but I think you should test the notebook with a new HARD drive.

  • Dmboot.sys file is corrupted, Windows XP screen flashes back.

    Original title: corrupt dmboot.sys

Dmboot.sys file is corrupt, option of safe mode back but does not help once selected. Flashing at the back of the screen the WindowsXP and safe mode

You don't describe symptoms suggestive of a necessity to implement KB307545.

Suggesting a KB307545 as a first troubleshooting step akin to say "I don't know what the problem is or how to solve this problem", in particular, and even worse when you have no symptoms.

My system does not use dmboot.sys, but obviously you don't (or want to).  If yours is grieving, you can usually replace using backups on your system already, so I look at that first.

It's too bad that MS Answers forums does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, so it knows absolutely nothing about your system then this is what I would do...

Since you can get Safe Mode, follow these steps:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

The dmboot.sys file must be in this folder (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32\Drivers

Depending on your installation, enter the following command:

    copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\dmboot.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file and then you should see a message that 1 file (s) has been copied.

If the file has not been found in the dllcache folder (it should really be), enter this command:

    copy c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\dmboot.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers

If it is still not found, then I can download one on my SkyDrive and you can download it and replace the one on your system.

After replacing the file, restart and see what things look like.

  • unrecognized .sys file extension

I'm having a problem with for a friend PC .sys files.  The network adapter does not work due to lack of driver files.  The files are there (C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\), but are not recognized by windows.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance

What I would do if it was here:

    1. use a Linux Live CD (I prefer Knoppix) to enter all the data on the machine. This also has the added benefit of tell you if the problem is hardware or software. If the computer cannot get online with Linux, then you know that the network adapter is broken. Replace (unless it's a laptop). If it's a laptop, consider how old the machine is and whether it is worth spending hundreds of dollars (or your local currency) on this subject.

    2. If the equipment is very good, stop futzing with this and do a clean install of Windows. If the computer has been infected and damaged operating system, no amount of tinkering will do 100% right again then do the clean install and set up correctly to your friend so that the two of you can move on. ;-)

    What is the MREMP50.sys file?

also what is the win32.tdss.reg key in my registry should I remove their how to remove them?

    Thank you

MREMP50.sys is the PCAUSA NDIS 5.0 MPR of Printing Communications Assoc. protocol driver.

    http://www.PCAUSA.com/

It is usually located in C:\Program Files\Common\Motive. This is part of the management software in Broadband Mobile Communications, which is now part of Alcatel-Lucent. This software is distributed by several ISPS to provide their users with Office diagnosis.

Win32.TDSS.reg isn't a registry key, but the name is similar to that of known malware.

You can launch TdssKiller from Kaspersky to check it out.
