Morning, I have a cannot open iPhoto on my Mac 27 inches. OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 the icon has a question (query) superimposed.

It's in the Dock or in Launchpad? Both?

The superposition of question mark means that the application has been deleted or cannot be found, open your folder/applications and see if the iPhoto icon is still there. Maybe you moved somewhere outside in / applications rather than actually delete?

  • Whenever I open iphoto 09 (8.1.2), it makes advertising ilife 11. However I can't find any way to do the upgrade.

Everytime I open iphoto 09 (8.1.2), he announced the upgrade to ilife 11. However I can't find any way to do the upgrade. I don't think that this computer can handle the upgrade to yosemit and photos. I'm operating a white macbook memory 1.5 GB with osX 10.7.5. IPhoto has apparently been abandoned for the photo. But where does that leave us with older equipment?

If you don't want to or cannot run El Capitan on your Mac, buy a DVD of iLife 11 from a source like Amazon or eBay.

  • I can't open my Iphoto of time machine

I can't open my iphone to time machine. So, I don't know if the pictures have been saved or not. Thank you

It is not possible to browse the iPhoto library in a Time Machine backup... but you can compare the size of the library in your backups with the size of the library on your Mac.  If they are the same, then you know that the iPhoto library has been saved.

If you want to use the iPhoto library in your backups, you must restore the entire library on your Mac or another hard drive.

  • A65 ARW a true RAW format or is it an immitation lossy? I can't open ARW with iphoto, Aperture, Photoshop

My iphoto, Aperture, Photoshop CS5 worked perfectly with my ARW A500 (raw) files. I bought an A65 and the same programs cannot read the ARW. How can I open them in these programs without converting them to jpg or another file with loss? I LOVE this picture, with the exception of this monumental disappointment! Help, please!

The problem is not the camera.

The problem is that applications that you are using must be updated to handle the A65 ARW files.

Since the installation of EL CAPITAN, I can't open pictures and iPhotos with PHOTOSHOP CS6, nor my mails with office Word

    Hi denisb,

If you are not able to open the Photos App images directly in Photoshop then, this is the expected behavior as App Photos does not allow for any third-party application interact with it directly.

You must export images from the Photos App and then open in Photoshop.

  • How can I stop iphoto loading when I turn on my computer?

How can I stop iphoto from loading all my photos when I turn on my computer? Please help as he now takes years before the web page downloads I mean I know my computer is old but it usually works very well. I am connected via BT infinity.

Looks like you have set iPhoto to start when connecting. If you don't want this, Ctrl-click the icon in your dock iPhoto, choose them 'Options' from the context menu. One of these options is 'open the connection '.

If it is enabled, this is why iPhoto load. Simply select the menu uncheck the option and you should be set.

  • I can't access iPhoto suddenly!

    Hello

I just wanted to check a picture when iPhoto does open no-bet updated el captain and it says the version of iphoto, I need is not available in the United Kingdom. So, how can I find my photos!

    Thank you very much

    Kate

The El captain to iPhoto 9.6.1 - see can't update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

However, you can use pictures - launch it and it will migrate your iPhoto library (or you can drag the iPhoto library to Photos in the Dock icon - learning (this is a new program and it has a learning curve) and using Photos would be the best idea since iPhoto is a program of death and have a very limited future - already you can not order of printing with it products)

  • Can't BUY iPhoto book - Error Message "incomplete book." Problem with the theme "photojournalism"?

The use of iPhoto 11 on Mac OS X

Problem - can not BUY iPhoto book

Error message - 'Incomplete book'... images on one or more pages contain no pictures

    WORKFLOW

Choose the theme - 'Photo Story' / connected / large

Create the Layout - Standard 20 pages of Photos and text

Overview of TEST Version 1 - Export PDF OK - OK - BUY OK

Create the duplicate - save to Version 2 - Triangles of yellow lights appear on all pages!

Version 2 - OK - OK Preview - PDF Export BUY FAIL - same mistake

Create copies - Save to Version 3 - Reload Photos/text/background on all pages until each yellow warning Triangle disappears

Version of TEST 3 - export to PDF OK - OK Preview - BUY still FAILS - same mistake

Create the duplicate - except for Version 4 - everything looks good - Triangles of yellow signaling No.

Trial 4 - export to PDF OK - OK Preview - BUY still FAILS - same mistake

RETEST Version 1 - export to PDF OK - OK Preview - buy always OK

Search and read help files, Support from Apple, cat competent bodies and try the suggestions - many people have struggled with similar issues.

Eventually repair and then rebuild the iPhoto Library - everything seems fine.

TEST Version 1 new - BUY always OK.   All other Versions - BUY still does NOT work

Create duplicates - save to Version 5 - try to change the theme to 'photo book '.

TEST Version 5 Overview - Export PDF OK - OK - OK NOW!

BUT - all completely scrambled and useless page layouts

"Photojournalism" is the only theme that works well for this Album

Version 1 cannot be used because all the pictures/text/Layouts are now improved

2 days wasted trying to buy a book in iPhoto from Apple...

At least I have a good PDF of Version 4 I can take for local printing

IT OF JUST A BUG?  IS THERE A SOLUTION?  -IS THE NEW APPLICATION 'PHOTOS' ANY BETTER?

You can buy is more books of photos with iPHoto (or opening) - Apple dropped that service 03/31/2016

You must use Photos or a third party - PrestoPhotos States that they can print and above all of the positive comments on the results in the opening forum - I don't personally used them

And the error you are getting is not wrong - you have not one or several photos missing in your book - usually a background picture full page covered by another photo, so you don't notice it

and you don't say how you are seen, but it's the way recommended - Preview of a project on paper in Photos or iPhoto to avoid problems - Apple Support

  • How can I use iPhoto importing photos from card reader?

Aloha all, I really prefer to use iPhoto, or opening when importing photos from card, but Photos opens whenever I put in my camera card. In the preferences of the Photo, the choice to select what app to use when importing is gray. How can I make iPhoto, or even simply to capture Image open rather than Photos? I put iPhoto preferences to do this, but it seems pictures somehow overrides it. Tips, tips out there? Mahalo

Try to set the default application to open the General preferences in iPhoto window:

Do you know that iPhoto is no longer supported by Apple print shops so that all projects must be created and controls through Photos?  Just a heads-up.

If the above does not work, you can kill all apps to open when a camera is connected with the following command in the Terminal application, posted by JadedEye:

Re: Prevent DEFINITELY the Photos to open automatically

    in response to leonie

OK, it worked for me on El Cap

    Open a terminal window

Type the following in the terminal and press enter

defaults write currentHost - com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug - bool YES

(followed by the return key or enter - ed)

    The exit of the terminal.

Photos will run if you run, but it will not autolaunch on each connection to a camera or the card or reformatted the card.

If you want to return Photos auto-launch almost everything, use the same command change YES no

This correction has set my workflow back to normal without Photos of gd lance all the time.

You must then manually run the application that you want to use with the memory card or camera.
