  It seems that you have not installed the driver for the sound card.

  If you use a restore disk from gateway it should be there, if you are using a full Windows XP disk then gateway should have provided additional disks with all the necessary drivers.
  Normally, I would like to on the manufacturer's Web site to download the drivers, unfortunately with the gateway no longer in the company that will be difficult.
  If you can identify the manufacturer of the sound card installed gateway you could go to their website and see if they have a driver there.

  Only YOU can possibly know if your computer has a sound card.  Open the case and look.  And, by "deleted a bunch of equipment" do you mean that you physically open the computer case and took out things and thrown them?  (Because that is what this particular set of words in English).  A menu of the items that you have deleted?

  The reason why the driver was not installed was because the folder of Hermosa has different hardware ID than the one you posted.

  The hardware ID you have posted is in the folder of Venice, a so go through the same steps again but this time browse to:

  C:\SWSetup\sp40270\Venice\V64\wisVenya and select the Conexant HD Audio device in the list and see if the driver is now installed.

  Then restart.

  Go to control panel > system and security > system and to the left, click on advanced system settings. Once there, go to the Advanced tab, and under performance, click settings. Then, click on the Advanced tab, and under virtual memory, click on change. Now, I did uncheck automatically manage it paging file for all readers size and check again, but if this does not work I heard uncheck automatically manage paging file for all readers size and selecting size made on order and set the initial size and maximum size to 3072 should solve the problem.   I have an A200-1JS (PSAE6) with a HDMI and HD DVD player.
  I connect my A200 to a LCD screen with an HDMI cable and its ok. Good picture and sound.

  BUT, when I want to see a movie (without using the HD DVD player) with a surround sound (5.1) the only thing that I get stereo sound coming out of the HDMI.
  I went to the control panel realtek option and in the HDMI output and I can only choose stereo.

  So my question is: its possible to get more audio channels (5.1) of the HDMI cable and if so, what should I do to play a movie with surround sound via HDMI?

  As far as I know is not possible. HDMI cable offers transfer better video/audio signals to your TV and you can watch movies in best quality.

  For sound 5.1, you need port optical audio output, and according to the specifications of the laptop, this port is not available.

  I ordered yesterday a recovery disk.    Before that I could write the order number from the confirmation page I accidentally clicked on something, because I lost the page.    Course I received an email of confirmation on the cord, but I don't have an address verification e-mail on the recovery disk I was hoping.    Is there a place to check on orders without order number or somewhere to contact HP for FREE to know so I can check on this order.   I paid extra for the package the next day.   Thanks for any help!
