  It would be probably due the FBSMTWB on the end of your useragent that you had added the Fast Browser Search toolbar extension.

  Safari maxes in a version of Mac OS x.  New version of Mac OS x would be needed for the new version of Safari.

  Firefox is not limited within an OSX and probably has a version that works.  Chrome may as well but is a Devourer of resources.  Opera is a third option.

  What is this error message that you receive? This would help a lot. From there, a person must be able to provide some additional troubleshooting steps.

  -Are you referring to Windows Update with Internet Explorer 9 update several times even if it has been installed?

  Thank you very much for your answers. As you suggest, I went to the help/updates and found that 3 points were scored update, Manager, 13 Photoshop and first elements 13 elements. On a hunch, instead uncheck one of them, I thought I'd see what would happen to let update all 3. It took a while, but, long story short, stopped the happy Vangogh and everything seems fine.   If you load the editor, when you get told updates and you click Update, it may take a while to get there.

  If you are on a Windows system, you can find that there is a flashing icon of user access control in your taskbar. I don't know about MAC systems.

  What version do you have now? You can use iPhoto 11 v9.6.1 on El Capitan. If you have a version earlier than iPhoto 11 then there is no way to upgrade and you must use the new Photos.app instead.

  If you have a version of iPhoto 11 then put it in the trash (not empty it) and reinstall it from the shopping list of the Mac App Store - note it is the Mac App Store and nothing to do with iTUnes.

  If you use Mac OS X 10.6.8 as indicated in your profile, then the latest version of iTunes that runs on it is new enough to be compatible with your iPhone. You need iTunes 12.3 and Mac OS 10.6 tops out at iTunes 11.4. You must upgrade your version of OS X to get a newer iTunes. You can download OS X El Capitan (10.11) from the Mac App Store.
