I get a message "locate link browser" after update Avast

Firefox is my browser of choice. I recently updated my Avast! antivirus. In the process, it has automatically installed Google Chrome. Quickly, I uninstalled Chrome. Since then, Outlook 2003 by clicking on a link to results in a message "locate link browser" and Firefox does not open. In Windows XP, I went into the folder options, file types, and there is no URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol. Can't add it because it is not in the drop-down list. I run regedit to remove the four files in various help sites, but none of them are there. What can I do now without setting Internet Explorer as my default browser?

Try to undo and redo Firefox as default browser.

Make a different browser like IE browser by default and then let Firefox do it again.
