  • Can I switch to Win 7 SP1 of Vista Home Basic (without Service Pack)?

Hello, currently I run Vista home basic 32-bit without the service Pack installed. I did once try and install but I got was a never-ending startup sequence (the BONES do not start) and I had to restore a backup copy of previous Vista before installing SP1. So it's just a quick question: can I go directly to Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1 without having all the service packs currently? I don't have a lot of free time to do a clean install and restore programs and games, and configure them.

Microsoft recommends that you have at least Service Pack 1 installed.

You can try to install without MS, if you wish.

And if you have a problem, follow this information.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.

    Hello

What follows is certainly not what you wanted to hear, but it is frank and honest.

There is no support for Windows 7 on your laptop. If you were able to get to the top and running, so you were lucky.

The only provided HP drivers and applications that are available for your laptop are for Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

You can try to install the Coolsense driver in compatibility mode, but there is absolutely no guarantee that it will work.

Just as it says on the download page of Coolsense, "this feature is available on mobile phones supported running a supported operating system." Unfortunately, your laptop is not grave in either categeory.

  • How do I upgrade/switch to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OF Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit?

I noticed that my laptop has 64-bit capabilities. My processor is AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-60 1.90 GHZ. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to move to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit? Also, I have 2 GB of RAM, and I don't know if I should get another 2 GB for the transition to work. Thank you. ~ Mystery.

@LVTravel my laptop came with Windows Vista installed, but last Christmas, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium. It actually came with 64-bit disk, and the activation key.

I understood the part when you say that I have to reinstall all my programs basically. I'm not sure what you mean by data files, they are available when I insert the backup? Where can I insert the disc to backup at all? My question is, how to restore these "data files"? Also, sorry for all the questions. :)

    ~ Mystery.

Data files are the files that you create with your programs such as movies of documents, spreadsheets Excel, Word, photographs, etc.  If the files have been copied on the device to backup using Windows Explorer you can just copy them to the refurbished computer.  If you used a backup of some program you type then need to use this program to put the files back on the computer.  Some backup programs will create an image of the drive hard and if you do not select the data files only you could possibly replace your 64-bit operating system installation.  I would recommend that you get your cousin to ensure that data is backed up and the restore is performed correctly.

See the response of Mike Hall, but also, note the following:

What virus do you have? How do you know if you're a? Reinstalling Windows due to a virus is almost never required and is usually exaggerated way. It is normally much easier and much less likely to cause you problems if you delete the virus with a good antivirus program.
