I have problems since I changed my computer from vista to windows7... Sites game requiring shockwave remains... I get knocked off line every few minutes... Why? How can I stop this?

Hot4Lefteris,
The first thing I would say (if you have not already done) is to ensure that you have the latest version of Shockwave installed.  If you have still a problem, I would like to run IE without Add-ons and then put only the module Shockwave Player and the test.  Also, follow the other steps listed here and post back with the results.

  • Almost any time I use the usb climb on my computer (with flash or ipod players) it freezes and crashes windows. I am up to date with drivers with Microsoft and HP, what can I do to stop this?

I have no problem with the usb drives but in recent times, this happens all the time.  I can go into Device Manager and uninstall my usb drivers and allows that, sometimes, but it's a temporary solution.  I am up to date with drivers with Microsoft and HP, what can I do to stop this?

    Hello

You can try to use your boot USB storage device and check if that helps. A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
    (1) perform the clean boot
    i. Click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
II. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
III. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
IV. click the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box and then click Disable all.
    v. click OK.
VI. When you are prompted, click on restart.
VII. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    (2) enable half the services
    (3) determine whether the problem returns
    (4) enable half of the startup items
    (5) determine if the problem returns
    (6) repeat the steps above until you find out which program or service is causing the issue

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual by following step 7 of article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 .

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    (i) click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
(II) on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

  • Just bought Wndows Vista and having problems with the port for Palm 125

I just bought a Windows Vista-based computer and have problems with getting my 125 Palm to synchronize with the desktop computer.  I get an error message saying: "No available Com1" what should I do?

    Thank you

    Frustrated

Don't ask me the procedures step by step that I did, but I finally success!  I uninstalled Palm Desktop and started from scratch.  I unplugged the Hot Sync cradle by the USB port, then I installed Palm Desktop from my drive and then update Palm Desktop on the Palm for Palm M125 site.  It still does not, I manually added a port and manually changed to COM1.  I then pressed the Hot Sync button and in the Device Manager, a folder has become available "device named" with Palm Desktop as a subfolder.  It is always active, I updated my computer for Palm USB driver.  Miraculously it worked.  Thanks for your help, but as usual everything it needed, it was patience and trial and error to solve the problem, since it does not seem to be a quick fix related this topic.

  • Windows Vista Home Basic - problem with the icons does not meet various Windows services after trying to download updates

I use Windows Vista Home Basic on a Dell Inspiron 1501.  I have recently accepted that some guest downloads Windows with terrible results.  First downloads do not appear to have been accepted and the system of guard stop and startup trying to cancel.  Second as I result, I seem to have lost access to a range of Windows tools.  For example in Panel I can't open system icons or Windows Update.  Nor can I access these services from any other avenue on the computer.  Whenever I have find an icon or a file screen flashes a dialog briefly and then disappears.  The effect of this is that I'm completely unable to access or to implement the recommended tools or services that could solve this problem.  My ability to manage my computer has been reduced to zero.  Dell were not receptive and I can't get a response from Microsoft

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

One thing you can try try the system restore, safe mode.

Start the computer in safe mode with networking capabilities (hold DOWN F8 while the computer starts).

To start your computer in safe mode, you can check the link below:http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/323ef48f-7b93-4079-a48a-5c58eec904a11033.mspx>

Check your Internet Explorer. See if it has its flaws.

Start > default programs > set your default programs > click on Internet Explorer. He said "this program has all its defaults"?
If not, click Choose defaults for this program > put a check mark on each entry in the list > SAVE

Now try to open the link in your email.

  • Had a virus on the computer, deleted, now I have problems with the homegroup and DSN

    Cause of my current problem:

2 weeks ago, I found that my computer has a virus. He removed the BFE service, firewall Windows, Windows Defender, blocked my anti-virus (Trend Micro), cut other security services... he pretty well blocked, deleted or close all my computer security programs.

I was able to fix, but my computer did not work in the same way.

I was able to return back BFE and Windows Firewall, turn on other security services and get up my antivirus and running. 2 weeks later my antivirus deleted 9 virus and thousand and something web threats.

    Now to my current problem:

I was able to establish the homegroup on my computer, but when I check the files that I want to share, Save custom settings, same when I go to a folder and select 'share with homegroup' manually

When I hit Homegroup troubleshooting need to network troubleshooting and I end up getting this error "your computer seems to be configured correctly, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding"

I tried following this threat: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/erroryour-computer-appears-to-be-correctly/aeb7b5df-55ac-456e-aba3-96f9d90898d6

Did not work. I tried reseting my router and modem but nothing. I can't first homegroup to work if I does not resolve the DNS.

This problem is probably due to the fact that the virus tried to redirect my DSN to computer hackers, but

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    modem: Motorola MIPDSLA

    Router: Cisco Linksys E1000

any other information needed on my computer please let me know

Sorry for this post is really long, I tried to summarize as much as I could

I thank all those who took the time to re-read this threat and decided to help me.

Although there is a small chance, you may be able to fix this on a service by service method, it is may be easier (and faster) to do a clean install.

I would also mention that if you got a virus to trend was obviously not a very good job of protecting you.  May want to rethink the installation of malicious software program.

What operating system do you use?

What brand of computer are you using (HP, Dell, etc.)? Have you spent at the web site of the manufacturer and installed the drivers from HP, Dell, support of any web site page? Sometimes drivers that Windows installs are not as effective - especially if you have recently upgraded to Windows 10.

There may be other factors, but we will need a lot more information in order to solve the deeper problems.

    Original title: hoax call?

I just got a call from somewhere in India that I have problems with my computer. They know this, because I have generated error reports. When I asked how I could be sure who they were they led me to a screen with a ref to no error report. and he cites correctly for me. When I was asked to sign up for control of my computer for them to correct these errors, I refused and hung up. What happens with all those errors that we report to microsoft when our computers generate the error reports and how these appellants knew my error report reference.

    Hello

    Its a SCAM!

In the United States, you can contact the FBI, Attorney general, the police authorities and consumer
Watch groups. Arm yourself with knowledge.

No, Microsoft would not email or call you unsolicited. Or they would know if there were any errors

I just got a call from someone who said they were from Microsoft. It was obviously of the India. In any case, he said that there are problems with my computer and it asked me to do something, I would not.  He hung up. He told me to click the button of windows on my keyboard. Then he told me type something in and running. But I refused. I said, how end I call Microsoft and give them your name... HE HUNG UP.

    Hello DianeMcGettigan,

It is simply one of the many scams that are doing the tour.

Unless you have a prepaid support contract with Microsoft, then Microsoft will never contact you by phone, mail or e-mail about problems with your PC. You did while refusing to allow him access to your PC. All they want to do is to have access to your PC, so they can steal personal data (banking etc.) on your part.

This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or the opinion of Microsoft, its employees or other MVPS.

    You did the right thing.
