I switched on the power button, laptop did not turn. Why?

I bought a new laptop 8 months ago and worked perfectly until this morning. As I switched on the power button which showed blue as usual but the screen was black and is not alive.  He just lights up not despite the power button light on.what went wrong?  Then I removed the battery and then turned it on and it started. Please, someone tell me what was wrong despite the fact that it works very well and how can I solve this problem.

It sounds like a hardware problem, you should consult your computer manufacturer on.  Maybe it's just a bad battery, but since it's only 8 months, it should still be under warranty.

Good luck.

When this happened to me, it was malware that didn't stop my computer, probably because she wanted to do something with it. I held the power button down until the computer is turned off manually, then I rebooted in safe mode - I run Vista - and ran some virus and malware programs until I found the beast and it crashed. You can also run a scan MS online at onecare.live.com, which was updated earlier this week. Moreover, I had not any data loss or permanent damage.

  • Lenovo Y40: Must only press the power button two times to turn on

    Hello

A few months ago, I bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press that once, the Lenovo logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds it turns off. On the second attempt, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.

In addition, rarely the phone stucks on the lenovo logo screen, is necessary to contain the power to reset.

Someone had some problems like these describe above?

    Thank you.
    Pedro Lopes.

    Hello

I contacted Lenovo's Support and they recommended to perform a full recovery of the system. Apparently, it worked because I did not suffer these problems since I got windows. Probably, there was a problem with the partition that has been responsible for the initialization of the system.

    Thank you, Pedro h. Lopes.

  • Satellite P50-B-103 - light around the power button / stop does not work

I bought this laptop a few days ago, and early on, I noticed that the light around my power button does not work.

so now I'm in dillema it back or not?

Everything works well, but because of the price, I expected to work correctly.

And what is perhaps the reason for this?

    TNX

As far as I know that the power button or to be more precise, the margin around the power button should be lit / lighted.

In my opinion its not serious problem but if there s a problem for you and you are not satisfied with that, I recommend you contact the dealer to replace the unit.

  • The mouse freezes at startup properly off. Mouse only thaws and works correctly when I hold the power button to stop and turn back.

I just got a new Inspiron 1545 computer 2 weeks ago and it works fine but I got a problem for the last two days where my mouse will freeze after that I stopped it using the stop option. When my computer starts you can move the mouse, but after a few seconds, it freezes, and you can't move the mouse but the keyboard works. I try to restart the computer with the option to reboot from the start menu and when it starts up to the top of the mouse freezes still. No matter how many times I try to stop or restart properly mouse unlock not. It only works if I stopped it by pressing the power and then switch on again. Any ideas as to what I could do to fix this?

The sad truth is that the mouse freeze problem is back. I searched the forum for other solutions, but so far without success.

I am currently using MS Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 and just to make sure that the problem is with the mouse, I inverted this mouse on my other laptop which works also on Windows 7. Mouse freeze problem is replicated, which never happened before for my other laptop.
Conclusion, until Microsoft is able to solve this problem, I opted for Logitech. I bought a Logitech M235 wireless mouse last night and keep your fingers crossed that the mouse freeze problem will disappear.
Life is too short to be stressed more mouse freeze problem.
  • Blue/Orange lights on the power button / stop does not.

  • Replace the power supply, computer does not turn on

I had a Seasonic SS 560 KM power supply for my HP Pav e9280t.  I removed the old power supply while keeping the power cable is plugged in.  Then replaced each power cables one at a time in the new power supply and finally he attached to the tower.

Now when I try to turn on your computer, it just boots barely upward.  I can hear the fans kick on for a second or two, then everything just stops.

Since I replaced the cables one at a time I don't think I missed anything; MoBo, Fan of MoBo, 1 optical drive, disk HARD 2 and 1GPU.  The tower is open and I can see the fan, the fan GPU MoBo and PSU fan all hang on one second so that they get the right power?

I must have missed something or possibly faulty PSU?  Any help will be appreciated.

Hello Chadow86, it is possible to the new power supply may be faulty. I would check double all the connectors again.

Since you mentioned the fan to the motherboard, it would not be necessary to unplug the CPU fan when you changed the power supply. The CPU fan power source comes from the motherboard and not directly from the power supply. I don't know what fan on the motherboard you are talking about.

I watched the specifications and photos of the new power supply. It is a modular design. I would check the cables connected to the power supply to make sure that they are in the correct connectors.

If the system still does not start, the cause could be a new power supply faulty.

    I hope this helps.

  • Laptop does not turn on but the power button is on ip

I just bought my HP Pavilion 360 less than a month ago and it's been used for research and schoolwork. No virus or threats have been detected. It was working fine today until I had to load it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just frozen. I tried to shut down by pressing the power button, but it did not work. Now, to just black screen but the power button turned on (meaning it's on). What should I do?

    1. don't remove the battery from your laptop

    2. just to unplug the AC power from the laptop adapter

    3. press and hold the power button on your laptop for 1 minute

AFAIK, this should make the difference

    Hi @Vishalwagh123,

Welcome to HP's Forums a great way to get help. It's a great place to find answers and advice! Thanks for the post.

I understand you have questions turn on/off the device and you must press the power button several times for him to start. I'll be happy to help you.

Please try these steps first. Perform a hard reset.

    • Steps to do:
    • Turn off the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery.
    • Press and hold the power button on the unit for 15 seconds to carry out the static electrical charges inside the machine.
    • Replace the battery and the charger plug it back. Try to turn on the computer.

If it fires up immediately the issue is resolved. Otherwise, try to turn on the computer without the battery and check that it works immediately.

In your message, you said that it works very well with the charger. However, I need more clarity here to help you better.

It works immediately when the adapter is connected and the power button is pushed only once?

If you again press the power button several times, it may be a faulty power button, and you will need to contact the hotline at the service of the unit.

Let me know what happens when you try to turn on the unit without the charger?

OK... I learned to get the motherboard changed. How much it will cost in India for my laptop?

What do you suggest I should do?

How much will it cost in India?  I have no idea. I live in Europe.

I suggest to ask a repair shop of PC or laptop.

If the cost of repair is more than 50% of the current value of the laptop, you would be better sourcing of a notebook replacement.

  • My laptop will not be closed unless I have press and hold the power button

Computer laptop MU shut unless I press the power button. There is no closing

Go to control panel-> Power Options control. Click on choose what the power button and the click of the left mouse.

Look at the options. Select other options to test.

Also, see the documentation that came with the computer or the web site of the manufacturer for other possible options.

It is possible that the laptop tries to install updates and the process is blocked somehow.

  • HP Pavilion DV7 laptop: Touchpad, sometimes active, even when the power button is pressed on off (light orange)

I use a wireless mouse (or a wired mouse) preferably instead of the touchpad.   The touchpad has a power button to press - white light indicates on and off Orange light.    After booting, I usually disable the touchpad and mouse wireless, however, sometimes when you type I realize my palms are contacting the touchpad and the cursor jumps around accordingly.    The touchpad is disabled (orange light) but I can control it with a finger, it works like its supposed to as if it is enabled.     Any ideas?   I have not downloaded a driver updated or do anything to try to solve this problem, as I fear, it could actually cause other problems.

Update the driver it is the usual Council for problems - that is the solution here?   Has anyone else had a similar problem.    Most of the touch pad problems I've read is in regards to an erratic touchpad - nothing to do with 'on' or 'off' problems.

    HI @WayneCM,

Thank you for your inquiry. I will do my best to help you!

I understand that you use the power button / stop to turn off the touchpad.  Sometimes, you will notice that your palm is in contact with it and the cursor is accordingly jump around but the rest light orange, to show that he has disabled.  Here is a link for HP Notebook PCs - using the touchpad and ClickPad (Windows 10). Please review the section on "Open the properties of the ClickPad" in figure 4, you'll see there's a button where you can disable the touchpad, until you want to reactivate it. Please let me know if this helped.
