icloud photo library synchronization

Hello

I recently decided to synchronize all my photos via iCloud photo library.

I wanted to keep the originals on my iMac but synch to my phone and iPad.

Now I am a happy person to wink a little and had pictures going back 10-15 years, in fact there is more 18,000 of them. I don't go back more later delete a few, but want to keep what I had for a while.

I initially just kept a copy on my iMac and then synchronized to my iPad via iTunes. I have in the albums which was pretty good.

This process has been synching for about a week, but nothing has changed for at least a day and there are still about 600 photos to sync. I checked the albums and many photos on them are a bit blurry but they are the only record of my travels have and want to keep them.

Can you tell me what I need to do. Or using I have come back to what I had before and synchronization with iTunes and iPhoto photo streams.

May we make a suggestion?

Concerning

Chris

This process has been synching for about a week, but nothing has changed for at least a day and there are still about 600 photos to sync.

It is not unusual for a library of this size to take so long to download or even longer without any visible progress.

Where it is suspended?  Is the upload to iCloud photo library of your suspended Mac, or synchronization with the iPhone and the iPad?

Is your Mac, showing a progress bar in the Photos > Preferences > iCloud? Or is passed to the progress bar?

You can check with a smart album, if your photo library containing pictures or videos, which can not download.

Use ' file > new smart album ' and these settings:

How much storage space you have on your iPhone / iPad? with your great library of Photos, you need to enable "storage management" on mobile devices. So not all willl be stored locally and they will look blurry, until what download you from iCloud photo library.

  • iCloud photo library on mac restored synchronization problems

Recently, my macbook pro was stolen.  After receiving the new machine, I did a restore of the system to my Time Capsule.  Almost everything has worked flawlessly.  However, I was not able to get photos to sync my library to iCloud.  I am well connected to iCloud and checked all the appropriate boxes.   I went through the painful process of waiting for the pictures to download x x GB GB in the preferences pane (which took DAYS).  He did finally multiply thanks to the data but now it just says: «Download x pictures»   No pictures have been synchronized since the day wherever the other laptop was taken.  Does sync between my iPhone and the Photos app on the site from iCloud, but they make their way towards the new macbook.

You can have one or more photos corrupted in your photo library, who can not download on iCloud photo library.

As long as not all the photos have been uploaded to iCloud, no new pictures will be downloaded.

The download will begin once all the photos have been uploaded.

  • Should I Photostream if I use iCloud photo library

Hi, I use iCloud library on my MBP, two iPhones and iPad and I still active Photostream.

I'll try to find our knowledge if I need Photostream as well as use iCloud.  I have more than enough storage for the moment in the cloud then from what I can tell Photostream is not something that would fail me if I turned it off.  At the same time, I can't find a definitive answer anywhere!

Grateful that if ever I decide to stop using the cloud, I can turn Photostream for my last few thousand photos.

I also try to work if there is anyway that I can reduce the amount of space on my iPhone which currently takes about 13 GB of photo library.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Matt

If you do not use my Photo Stream, turn off all devices.

You need my photo only, stream if you also use older devices with iOS 7 or more, which can not support iCloud photo library. But if all your devices are set to synchronize with iCloud photo library, you don't need my photo stream. It might even cause problems.

  • iCloud Photo Library Download stuck after changing icloud account

This is FYI if someone of another encounter the same problem, I've had.

My daughter Mac and iphone used a common icloud account that has been set up for the family some time ago.   She had a lot of photos stored in icloud, through Photos.  We decided to create account it with his own icloud and itunes recently.

The first question icloud was in its disconnection from the old account.  The message that you will lose pictures and videos that are not fully downloaded to the Mac we fear for a few days because there is no easy way that we could find to determine in advance what photos and videos were not fully downloaded.  So, we tried for these days download all photos and videos but did not seem to make any progress.  After a few days, we have bet that we could continue with disconnection and risk losing the photos and videos they would be still in icloud under the old account.  Then we saw on the screen depending on who told us that we will lose only 3 photos and 1 video - too bad that the screen has not come earlier.  So we disconnected.

The second question icloud came after connected to the new icloud account and tried to get his Mac photos to sync up to pictures of icloud.  We spent 2 or 3 days waiting for them to update and 2 separate calls with Apple support but no resolution.  There were two additional things, I noticed: 1) the iCloud library update bar (under preferences/Photos/account) remained empty (i.e., no green progress bar) for 2 or 3 days indicating no progress has been made and 2) next to the heading 'ICloud photo library' was the message in red that I had 29 (then 28 then 27) days to download my photos to icloud prior to their removal.  It made me suspicious that it was a reference to the photos under the old account and I was connected to the new account.  So, today, I bet and disconnected the new icloud account and once again had the same 3 photos and 1 video message would be deleted, that I accepted.  Then I signed in to the new account icloud, got informed that I had too little space on the new account to all the pictures and videos to download, I opted for more space (paying), end connection, then pictures/properties/account and viola, iCloud library update bar now give me 1) a number of pictures to download and green 2) in the progress bar.

    So, to summarize:

    1. If you're worried about losing your photos (or other files) If you disconnect your icloud account, note 1) you should be able to recover if you reconnect to the account and 2) that there is a window that will tell you how much you will lose (even if have never heard you those who), and
    2. If the synchronization ends up with no apparent progress made (especially no count of how many must be synchronized or no visible 'green' progress) then a possible solution is to disconnect, and then reconnect to your icloud account.

  • Create a subset of iCloud photo library photos...

I use iCloud photo library, which is OK but heavy.

Is there a way to define a subset of pictures of this library to have on my iPhone instead of having everything on my iPhone?

    Several issues from my point of view;

-I don't want to go through all my photos on my iPhone, I can easily select about 30% of all my photos I want available

-Currently, photos on my iPhone consumes much too 11 GB of memory.

-I know that I can create a new library system with a limited number of pictures, but find to manage several libraries a real pain

    Any suggestions are welcome

ICloud photo library usage is purely optional. To reduce the amount of storage space used on your iPhone, set Photos to use an optimized local library.

If you choose to not to turn on iCPL, use iTunes to select and synchronize you want to keep on the iPhone. Excited about my photo stream automatically copy new images from iPhone to your computer.

  • iCloud-photo library: only use it as backup?

I finally got serious about my photo library to backup to the cloud. Because I have Apple products, it seems that iCloud photo library would make the most sense. And with the recent drop in prices, it is now affordable.

But here's what I can't determine after reading articles: I don't really have interest in what my library that is available to me through devices. My interest in iCloud is simply as a back-up for my photos, in case my house burns down. Can I then turn on iCloud photo library for Photos on my Mac, but leave it for my iPhone and iPad? My concern is that even an optimized thumbnail for almost 15 years of images would take too much memory on my mobile. I'd rather keep manually import the photos that I take on my iPhone for pictures with sync and let the pics to save them from there.

    Who is?

And the video also back - up iCloud photo library, right?

Yes, you can turn on or off on a per-device basis, and Yes, it synchronizes videos.

  • the reactivation of iCloud photo library

Had the following issue: my photos for mac app was stuck on downloading the last 22 pictures in my photo library to iCloud.

I did some research and it was suggested "just deactivate and then reactivate" the library of iCloud.

Well surprise after trying to turn it back on I got a dialog box telling me he does not have enough storage space, apparently he wants to download all the photos again?

Question: Is there a way to force the photo app to use my iCloud already synced photo library.

Because reuploading a library of 600 new GB would be powerful frustrating.

Someone at - it an idea?

    Best regards, Jelger

Update: I managed to start the synchronization again by activating via the parameters of iCloud iCloud photo library.
It gives me a warning that I will probably will run out of storage iCloud.

Hope now only it syncs to the same library and will disregard the duplicates.
I'll post an update as soon as I can confirm anything.

  • All the photos are low resolution JPEG in icloud photo library.

My photos are raw in iPhoto, but when I got to watch or download from the cloud they are Habitat. I want to store the wines in the cloud and does not take a lot of space on my computer, but so far I don't see them there.

If you use iCloud photo library, you have Photos app, not iPhoto.

iCPL is a synchronization service, not an off-site storage or backup service. You must develop a different strategy.

  • How to remove photos from my iPhone without deleting icloud photo library?

My iPhone is full and I wanted to remove some photo to release some spaceso I supported the up to iCloud and I started to remove photos. ***? They are endangered to iCloud! Now, they're just gone. It's crazy! Image capture you can import to everywhere, but the function "delete after importing" seems to have disappeared. I'm sure this question has been beat to death, but how you remove photos from their phone without removing them from their photo library iCloud?

    So frustrating.

Does anyone know of a solution to this?

iCloud is a synchronization system, not just external storage.  Once you turn on photo library all you do with a photo is on ALL of your devices (including remove them).  See the last section in this article on how to recover pictures that you inadvertently deleted:

iCloud: use iCloud photo library on your iOS device

How to remove pictures and videos from a camera using iCloud photo library?

If you want to delete the pictures and videos of all your iOS, Mac and iCloud.comdevices, you can delete them in the Photos app.

When you delete a photo or video of your Photos app, also will not delete your photo library and iCloud iCloud storage. You can retrieve your photos and videos from the album recently deleted for 30 days.

  • Disabling iCloud photo library on my iPhone

    Hello

I tried to disable iCloud photo library (~ 15000 photos) on my iPhone.

    1. Everything went well (or almost) until the end: ~ 250 pictures remained on my iPhone, not be deleted after hours.
    2. I tried to manually delete the remaining photos but it deleted on iCloud as well.

Why do I always have photos on my iPhone? Is that because I "IPhone storage to optimize" turned on?

I would like to disable iCloud library turns off and not of picture about it. How can I keep everything on my iCloud library?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    L.

Try going to settings/iCloud and stop synchronization of Photos. Just to be safe, go to settings/Photo and camera and make sure that the synchronization stops there. Now you should be able to remove the pictures from the phone.

  • Help to use ICloud photo library

I created iCloud photo library on my computer desktop Mac, 2 iPhones (mine and my husband) and iPad.   I have several questions:

    1. I have 56 779 pictures in my library on my Mac.  It is has been download since last Friday and today says download 35 939 points (89,14 GB 200,61 GB).  Why is - it take so long and what I can do to speed that up?  I want access to my photos on all devices, but want the originals on my Mac as well.

    2. the photos taken on my iPhone not charge other devices.  Photos of my husband takes is... two phones are put in the same place.

    3. on my phone at the title 'Moments' my phone says 6 322 photos, 133 videos and under that it says download 3 929 points.  His phone said 23 974 photos, 207 videos updated 07:19 - once AGAIN the two phones are put in the same place (I changed the settings even last week when I updated our two phones for the latest operating system).

    4. on my Mac why their different images in 'All the Photos' under 'Albums' in the Photos listed by Date?

    5. on my iPhone - why different Albums show on my Mac?  Example: We just returned from a trip and this week I put in place several new albums.  They do not appear on other devices in the title of the Album?

    6. do I need to move the picture on our iPhones to somewhere else on the Mac, so keep them forever?  I don't want pictures endangered?  I have more confidence?

I would appreciate help, can someone give me?  I'm completely lost?

My system is an Early 2008 iMac

    OS X El Capitan 10.11.4

    IPhone 6 - 9.3.1

    Photos 1.5

I have original ICloud library checked and updated download for Mac. I also have my Photo Stream and ICloud Photo sharing checked.

    Thank you very much!!!

    1. the download process is very slow. Some of those who have large libraries of photos posted it took a month. There is nothing you can do to speed up the process except try to minimize access to the network on the computer.

    2. try to settings/iCloud and remove the synchronization. Wait a few minutes and then resynchronize. Have you tried the signature to iCloud and then reconnect?

    3 see above.

To avoid losing images make sure you have 2 backups of the computer on 2 separate drives.

  • Is iCloud photo library space use doubled if I use Photos and iPhoto apps?

IPhotos and Photos apps right now: If an image appears at the same time it

be transferred twice (with the help of double the amount of space) in iCloud storage space?

IPhotos and Photos apps right now: If an image appears at the same time it

be transferred twice (with the help of double the amount of space) in iCloud storage space?

No, you can not use iCloud with iPhoto and Photos at the same time on the same computer.  Photo library only at a time can synchronize with iCloud (My Photo Stream, shared Albums, iCloud, library).  If you enable iCloud for a Photo library, it will be disabled for the previous library.

Sine you use Yosemite - in the first versions of Yosemite was a problem, and it was possible to activate my photo stream in iPhoto and iCloud library in Photos at the same time. But my photo stream does not count against your iCloud free storage, that is used for library iCloud, there is no overlap in iCloud photo library.

  • Trying to get pictures of the iPad to the iPhone. Clicked on iCloud photo library. Ended up deleting most of my photos in a second. Anyone know anything on this subject?

I tried to make my photos to iPad iPhone. The ordinary photo stream was not working. I clicked on iCloud photo library in the iPad settings. Says delete a hundred photos. I clicked on that and all of a sudden, the vast majority, perhaps 600 deleted and no sign of them anywhere. Probably shouldn't have but reset iPad hoping to my last backup I had all, unfortunately not there

During a turn on iCloud photo library on a camera that have been placed on the device via the sync from iTunes are deleted from the device. Original must be always on your computer (if they are not, they would have been removed from the device next time you synchronize with iTunes). The following link has received instructions on how you can add these photos to your iPad (see the section titled "if some of my photos are missing after I turn on iCloud photo library?': get help with your iCloud photo library - Apple Support )

  • To a new Mac to iCloud photo library

I bought a new Mac and you want to migrate my iCloud photo library to the new machine. Currently, I have all my photos stored on my old mac and plan to move the library of photos of the new machine.

I have 650 GB of photos, so I don't want you must synchronize all the photos again to iCloud. Is there a safe way to migrate my photos for the new iMac?

The best way is to connect the systems or use a DHM in mac OS extended (journaled) format and drag the photo library intact as a single entity of the original system in the new system images folder and then launch the Photos on the new system

The new Mac will say it's download to ICPL but it I actually just make sure everything is in sync - it takes time, but less than a download
