iCloud photo library: very low resolution (sometimes!)

When my iphone 6 more pics are automatically transferred to iCloud photo library, why some of the photos are uploaded as fuzzy (low resolution) and others are downloaded in high resolution?

How you view photos that have been uploaded from the iPhone?  In the www.icloud.com or the Photos.app on your Mac?

On your Mac, you can see the blurry pictures, until the photos have been uploaded completely icloud.

Did you put the pictures > iCloud preferences "Original download this Mac" or you use 'optimize Mac Storage. "  With the option "Optimize Mac Storage" active, version full resolution will download only from iCloud, when you double-click on the picture to open it. Until you do this, the tile can be blurred.

Is it possible to download a video file, MPG to a Mac to iCloud photo library?

  • iCloud photo library and FIRST photos in iOS

I would like to enable capture of RAW files in iOS 10. I have a 256 GB 7 iPhone +, but at 30 MB per DNG, storage will be used quickly if I don't get the photos on the phone regularly.

It is true that I am still unclear on iCloud photo library works. I activated on my iPhone, but I think it means it stores the photos on the phone and also downloads in the cloud?

If I had to come home every day and transfer the DNG on my Mac and remove them from my phone, I assume that they will have is no longer a storage space on my phone, but would take place in iCloud if they were downloaded before I moved out of my phone?

Looks like I should cut iCloud photo library if I am shooting RAW, since I would like to download very large photos that I don't necessarily want to keep?

iCloud is a synchronisation/mirroring service and not a traditional cloud solution based.  If you are looking for a more traditional based cloud solution, then consider using an application third, for example Dropbox, Flickr or Google Photos.

  • How to handle Monster pictures 30 K in iCloud photo library? Segment or archive, suggestions?

    Hi there-

I managed to hang a new iPhone 7 now and want to put up, but I'm struggling under the weight of a photo 32 000 iCloud photo library. Yes, I know it's my fault - we had iPhones for years, I'm an accountant family and the taker of the photo, I take too many pictures, I save too many photos, I have teenage girls who take a LOT of pictures.

SO I think they are in the library of iCloud.  When I'm on my phone with iOS 10, I see "All Photos" and the total is slightly less than 32K - BUT I don't really need TO see all 32,000?  In fact, I don't really want to?  I would like to know that they are saved in their original resolution, but never need access to all those who, on minutes notice: they took 10 years to build up!

Can I 'archive' in iCloud library?  They segment somehow?

I have 7 more than 256 GB iPhone memory - isn't a storage thing, it's just something exaggerated.  I'm considering a facility clean b/c I'm also about 1000 apps more than 10 years old.

But once I sign in iCloud, I think that 30K pictures will come streaming back, right?

    Other info:

-My use of Photos on my 6 current iPhone is about 40 GB

-J' have 800 GB available on a 1 TB iCloud account

-In my iCloud account, it says that my photo library ICloud is 97 GB

-I don't have an unlimited Smugmug Pro with photo storage account (although I'm not really all 32K of these-there are many who are not guards).

-J' I download Google Photos to try to save it, but there still 30 000 pictures to back up.

-J' have a MacBook Air but (gulp) do not have upgraded the operating system to have Photos for Mac yet.

I would really appreciate it here a road map to get out of this situation - or not "stack" putting them all on my 256 GB iPhone 7 more and just accumulating more!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Why not only the photos in the photo library of iCloud?

  • Removal of old photos of the iPhone with iCloud photo library on

I had a 6 128 GB iPhone for a couple of years and I bought a Macbook Pro about a year ago. I've been running iCloud photo library - but not Photostream - and without really look deep into the settings exactly, when I take pictures on my phone they usefully automatically found in the Photos app on my macbook. When I remove photos from my phone, they also seem to disappear too from my mac.

Recently, in an arrangement of happy until I started running low on space on my phone. My question is, is my library in 'mirror' between my devices? IE if I say, delete all my photos from 2012 to 2014 my phone, they are removed from my macbook too? Obviously, it would be disastrous.

I guess my question is, what are the best settings to have a situation where my photos will be driven by my phone to my laptop, but then stored on my laptop indefinitely?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello

When you use iCloud photo library, deletion of a photo or a video on any device that uses the service will remove this item in all of them and also to iCloud.

The following resources may help explain how the photos and videos are managed by iCloud photo library, including the possibility to optimize the storage on your iPhone:

To manually import pictures to your laptop, you can follow the steps detailed here:

  • Solution of fast backup, photos of google or iCloud photo library?

Hey there Apple community, im in a bit of a situation difficult and need a few thoughts. My iPhone more than 6 s is fully charged to 64 GB of photos and applications. My iMac is fully loaded with photos in iphoto, Yosemite. I have 10% left in my iMac HD. It won't let me save my iphone. I know I go through my iphoto library and organize and delete some photos and consolidate the events before migrating to the new application photos and then move it to icloud photo library, but I'm very limited on time in the next few months and won't be able to do. I wrestle on a quick temporary solution for backup, but don't want to spoil or lose my precious photos and other data.

But this is what im thinking, tell me if this would mess things up.

I would like to either temporarily back up all my photos on Google photos for now from my iphone, and then when I'm ready, I'm going to migrate my iphoto library all on my imac to the photo library to icloud and then transfer my photo library from google to the photo library icloud (but not sure. If it works Someone at - it experience with google pictures and Mac?).

Or I simply activate the iCloud library of photos on my phone while it backs up my current pictures on my phone last year and then optimize my storage on my phone. Then a few months starting now to migrate my iphoto library 268 GB of Photos app on my iMac running Yosemite and then migrate the library of Photos in this same icloud photos library that I opened a few months back from my phone (I understand I will pay $10 per month for the size of the library). I feel like the latest one is the best option, but I'm not sure if I do it my icloud library won't sync and consolidate properly because I started with my current pictures on my phone and then brought in my library of photos together for the last 5 years at a later date. How do you think any community?

Why not get an external drive and move the photo library of the computer to the outside. If successful, you can then remove the library on the computer, or just keep it as a backup.

The article is for iPhoto, but the basics are the same.

  • Access iCloud photo library on iPhone

    iPhone 6 + 128 GB
Latest version of the software running
A lot of memory on the phone on the left

I recently went to Apple to try to fix a problem of very small software (safari repeatedly crashing) I got with my phone.  The solution? A clean wipe of the phone.  If that's what I did.  However, I went home with what should be a solved problem, and he was always to be funny.  Being me, I'd rather have a glitch safari with all my previous settings and tact on my entire phone apps to have a glitchy safari while trying to drop my phone back to a semblance of normality.  In these circumstances, I restored my latest backup (which was the day before) and had my phone 'back' to me.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get pictures of my iCloud is displayed on my iPhone.  I can see them on my PC via iCloud.com, they are always there, but I have NO idea how to make back to my phone.  I tried to turn the iCloud photo library button in the settings of the iPhone, but it does not, either.  I don't mind even if they don't come back to my iPhone (although, in the end, I would have PREFERRED that, as I tend to look back in time with photos of my kids and doing collages with current photos), but I just want to be able to ACCESS.  Like... whatever it is at this point, really, to be able to see the pictures on my iPhone.

I tried searching everywhere on how to accomplish only access photos of icloud for iphone, but everywhere only gives advice on photos of the icloud iphone, which I'm perfectly capable of doing.  It's just the opposite, that seems to be annoying.

    Can anyone help?

Just a guess - in addition to the activating/deactivating the key to iCloud in the settings of the iPhone photo library, I would also try signing out & in icloud - perhaps with a reboot or restart forced between the two.

  • iCloud Photo Library Download stuck after changing icloud account

This is FYI if someone of another encounter the same problem, I've had.

My daughter Mac and iphone used a common icloud account that has been set up for the family some time ago.   She had a lot of photos stored in icloud, through Photos.  We decided to create account it with his own icloud and itunes recently.

The first question icloud was in its disconnection from the old account.  The message that you will lose pictures and videos that are not fully downloaded to the Mac we fear for a few days because there is no easy way that we could find to determine in advance what photos and videos were not fully downloaded.  So, we tried for these days download all photos and videos but did not seem to make any progress.  After a few days, we have bet that we could continue with disconnection and risk losing the photos and videos they would be still in icloud under the old account.  Then we saw on the screen depending on who told us that we will lose only 3 photos and 1 video - too bad that the screen has not come earlier.  So we disconnected.

The second question icloud came after connected to the new icloud account and tried to get his Mac photos to sync up to pictures of icloud.  We spent 2 or 3 days waiting for them to update and 2 separate calls with Apple support but no resolution.  There were two additional things, I noticed: 1) the iCloud library update bar (under preferences/Photos/account) remained empty (i.e., no green progress bar) for 2 or 3 days indicating no progress has been made and 2) next to the heading 'ICloud photo library' was the message in red that I had 29 (then 28 then 27) days to download my photos to icloud prior to their removal.  It made me suspicious that it was a reference to the photos under the old account and I was connected to the new account.  So, today, I bet and disconnected the new icloud account and once again had the same 3 photos and 1 video message would be deleted, that I accepted.  Then I signed in to the new account icloud, got informed that I had too little space on the new account to all the pictures and videos to download, I opted for more space (paying), end connection, then pictures/properties/account and viola, iCloud library update bar now give me 1) a number of pictures to download and green 2) in the progress bar.

    So, to summarize:

    1. If you're worried about losing your photos (or other files) If you disconnect your icloud account, note 1) you should be able to recover if you reconnect to the account and 2) that there is a window that will tell you how much you will lose (even if have never heard you those who), and
    2. If the synchronization ends up with no apparent progress made (especially no count of how many must be synchronized or no visible 'green' progress) then a possible solution is to disconnect, and then reconnect to your icloud account.

Don't forget to let Apple know it so that they can improve their service to the future- http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • can I switch from icloud photo library app photos without losing the photos

I have my settings so that all my photos have been removed from iTunes and are now accessible via the iCloud library, but I don't like the way they are stored in all THE PICTURES rather than in their respective albums that I spent hours and hours of sorting.

If I drag iCloud photo Library, everything returns to how it was (basically, my photos will appear on my iPad in their albums?)

The images are not stored in iTunes, so I don't know what you removed and hence. Your photos and your videos are stored and organized in the Photos app, on your computer and on your iDevices. iCloud library is how they are synchronized between all of your devices. This includes your albums. If you don't see any albums on your iPad, maybe not looking in the right place? One caveat is that you have nested folders.

You can disable iCPL on your iPad and then return to using iTunes to sync photos, but like I said, you should see your albums with iCPL.

It seems you want to use iCloud photo library as an archive of photos. It was not intended for this use.

iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple Support

It is designed to allow you to have full access to your library without having to choose which photos and videos you store on which devices because it connects to your library using iCloud to all your devices, you registered this service. You can choose the option to Optimize Storage iPhone, which will automatically replace your photos in full resolution with optimized for your phone free storage.  Such use allows to my 64 GB iPhone store more 18 000 photos and 877 videos with fast access on my iPhone and elsewhere, while occupying only 4.8 GB on my physical device. The library full resolution resumes of more than 112 GB of storage which I can access in iCloud.com, on my computer, or by requesting the download of contents of high resolution on my iPhone with that I will make.

Otherwise, if this does not work for you, you can use other services, such as Dropbox, archive your library, so you can completely remove the photos from your iPhone. If you deleted pictures from your iPhone now, they would delete the iCloud photo library so that he be kept in sync as your Contacts or Notes.

  • Help to use ICloud photo library

I created iCloud photo library on my computer desktop Mac, 2 iPhones (mine and my husband) and iPad.   I have several questions:

    1. I have 56 779 pictures in my library on my Mac.  It is has been download since last Friday and today says download 35 939 points (89,14 GB 200,61 GB).  Why is - it take so long and what I can do to speed that up?  I want access to my photos on all devices, but want the originals on my Mac as well.

    2. the photos taken on my iPhone not charge other devices.  Photos of my husband takes is... two phones are put in the same place.

    3. on my phone at the title 'Moments' my phone says 6 322 photos, 133 videos and under that it says download 3 929 points.  His phone said 23 974 photos, 207 videos updated 07:19 - once AGAIN the two phones are put in the same place (I changed the settings even last week when I updated our two phones for the latest operating system).

    4. on my Mac why their different images in 'All the Photos' under 'Albums' in the Photos listed by Date?

    5. on my iPhone - why different Albums show on my Mac?  Example: We just returned from a trip and this week I put in place several new albums.  They do not appear on other devices in the title of the Album?

    6. do I need to move the picture on our iPhones to somewhere else on the Mac, so keep them forever?  I don't want pictures endangered?  I have more confidence?

I would appreciate help, can someone give me?  I'm completely lost?

My system is an Early 2008 iMac

    OS X El Capitan 10.11.4

    IPhone 6 - 9.3.1

    Photos 1.5

I have original ICloud library checked and updated download for Mac. I also have my Photo Stream and ICloud Photo sharing checked.

    Thank you very much!!!

    1. the download process is very slow. Some of those who have large libraries of photos posted it took a month. There is nothing you can do to speed up the process except try to minimize access to the network on the computer.

    2. try to settings/iCloud and remove the synchronization. Wait a few minutes and then resynchronize. Have you tried the signature to iCloud and then reconnect?

    3 see above.

To avoid losing images make sure you have 2 backups of the computer on 2 separate drives.

  • ICloud photo library - double images and memory iPhone 5 c problem

    Hello

After months of deliberation, I decided to convert my Aperture on Mac in photo library and link the family three iPads and my iPhone to iCloud photos. I made sure all software updates have been installed on all devices, including the Mac. After 22 days of continuous download, I have now all the pictures in the clouds!

However I have 2 problems. My 30 k + original images expanded to 40 k + with thousands of duplicates and my iPhone 5 c memory (8 GB - what a mistake!) is now full and I cannot take photos more or update applications on it. I guess that duplicates are albums on iPads.

Before I converted, I checked and the documentation stated that the Photos would be recognition of duplicates and not replicate in the cloud. I also checked the box to optimize the images on my iPad and iPhone not realizing that even with the optimization of the paltry memory on the 5 c would be totally inadequate - the iPad is very good.

Now I have more documented and install PhotoSweeper on the Mac seems a possible solution to the problem in double - the alternative is to go through each image!

Re the problem of the iPhone, the only solution I see is to stop the iCloud photo library on the phone and then remove the images on the phone. Who will free the memory, and I will then be able to take pictures I have to take pictures by other means. It's not ideal for a functioning flawlessly, but when my contract is up this summer the next phone will be a greater amount of memory and hope it will be seamless!

Any advice please before going further?

Photo Sweeper is a good package and works well and is course - so are duplicate Annihilator for Photos and PowerPhotos

You could try turning off ICPL on the small phone, cleaning of duplicates and leaving all s = complete uploads and downloads and stabilize and they new the on with photos on the iPhone - optimized it can handle then - worth a try
