Iconia W3 USB

So apparently the W3 is not provided with a micro usb dongle (acer thanks, hundreds of dollars and cannot throw this away?)

Do I need any female usb micro adapter? Or I need to find an adapter OTG? (and if this is the case, seems I'm doomed to have to order from an online retailer)

As long as it's not 'charge only' here (have several) everything seems to work. What I need is a Micro B to Mini B M/M, right now I need two cards. It's worse than the plumbing.

Was surprised Acer didn't understand a because it came with the W510. And then my final cost for the W3 was $ 100 less than the W510. Android tabs were included but they charge on 5v.

Be interesting to see how the W4 rates since there will be competition. May come up which includes GPS.

  • Acer Iconia (W1-810) 8W - boot from USB...

    Hello world
I have an Acer Iconia 8W (W1-810), and I tried to install another OS through my USB key. I already changed the boot order in the bios and secure boot disabled, but I'm not able to start. Y at - it a boot to access menu, if yes, how to reach it, if not, how can I start the USB? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I activated the F12 boot menu and tried a USB pen create fom Universal USB install (which is what I always use to install Ubuntu on a PC) and Intel on the other with Win32 Disk Imager (with Android Ivy-bridge of the Intel Web site). Menu of startup only recognizes Windows...

Edit 2: updated the BIOS to 1.06, installed rEFInd on Windows, nothing... Does not seem reccogize what USB deviced outside Windows...

Discovered that there is a single machine 32-bit EFI. Managed to adapt the Ubuntu image to have a 32-bit efi loader and managed to start the USB key. Always difficult to install but at least I'm in.

  • Iconia W4-820 will not charge with the power adapter USB Std

Bought my W4 Iconia four weeks ago, a demonstration model, the last of them. It was packed in the box with a micro USB x adapter USB OTG cable and a power adapter. Back at home I discovered that the power adapter has been to Asus, possibly mixed in the shop. The prospective buyer of the Asus Tablet demo likely will get the Acer adapter. Adapter Asus with micro USB male connector works fine; specs are 5.2V - 1.35 amps; seems to be a STD USB adapter. The Asus adapter has a connector to USB female port to connect to a USB x microphone cable to USB adapter (with cable power adapter came in the box). Bought a 2nd power with USB 2 socket adapter to connect my W4 Iconia and my Garmin Zumo390 browser to an adapter. Specs are 5V - 3.5 amps.
The Zumo works very well with the new card, but does not work my W4. Charge light stays off. USB ports switched to he Zumo and the Iconia W4, but same result. Zumo fresh, but W4 not. Borrowed another power adapter USB, 5V - 2 mines anti-personnel and new Zumo accusations, but the W4 still does not work. Also tried different USB adapter cables, but the same thing; Zumo invoice, W4 does not work.
How is that possible? I can't tell the difference of 0.2 V between the Asus adapter and a USB adaptor STD would make the difference. But maybe I'm wrong. Wanted for adapters for the W4 Iconia and found several, but all the 5V as expected.
    Can anyone help.
Will go to the shop again next week, but if I need an adapter V 5.2 I should order with Acer. 5.2 V adapters do exist not (readibly).

Resolved issues. A dark and humid Sunday afternoon back to the store with the Tablet and all the bells and whistles. Changed the card Asus for the original Acer 5V - 2Amps (10W). Took the time to find the Acer adapter in the store. Demonstrated the adapter 2nd with 2 output USB ports and it wouldn't work with the Tablet W4. Tried another and found to be ok. 2 USB ports have a different power, a port for a smartphone and the other port is one tablet. Total power rating of the adapter is 17.5W (5V - 3.5Amps); some 2.5 and 1Amps. A happy man is back home again.

  • Iconia Tab 8 W unable to boot from USB

    Hello

I'd love to start my Iconia Tab 8 W of a USB, UEFI has the option to boot from USB or PXE so that I do not suspect that it supports that in one way or another.

Currently I have no luck with a simple OTG drive, I am able to access it from the same created the boot of Windows media, but no chance to see the drive in the menu of the UEFI (even the start menu only sees the Windows boot loader).

Anyone has any ideas, how to proceed? I don't see any dock available for the Tablet here, but if there are some I would be headed in the direction (even if it is part of another series of the device).

    Thank you

In fact I find the question why the installation CD is not recognized.

Apparentely UEFI AEP 64-bit systems, most, but here, on this tablet UEFI is 32 bits, which is quite rare. I start different bootloader (rEFInd) who works with IA32, and is now working on how to start the * bleep * core so I can install the system. If anyone has any ideas I'm open.

I'll keep this open and update once that I make it work with a solution how to install Linux on this...

  • Iconia W510 win 8.1 no HDMI and no USB Tablet

I have a 510 Iconia I put far to 8,1 win via the link on the App Store. The PC has all updates from Windows Update. I have instlled driver Acer 3.02 package (1176 graphics display driver). Goes the same for the BIOS, which is the most recent available.

    My problems are:

    1. no HDMI. It is quite dead. It is not the poster, I connect. Inuts HDMI on the tested screens and cables work with other devices, so the problem is with the W510.

    2. the USB port on the tablet itself is also dead. No matter what I connect it's nt power up / appear in the Device Manager/Explorer.

    Everything works as it should.

The two ports are used occasionally, it can so be that they have never worked with Win 8.1. Are there known problems, something that I'm mssing or should I fixed it (still under warranty)?

    Thanks in advance!

Boy, I'm leaning towards material now. Although it is possible that there is a software switch to turn the unit off I can't think of any reason he would have hit the USB or HDMI connection at the same time. Material could be the entire 5V circuit, since the motherboard components use lower voltages these days...

  • Keyboard usb microphone Iconia B1

I have connected a keyboard via its micro usb cable for my Iconia B1 but when I tap that nothing appears on the screen.

Prefer a bluetooth keyboard. Not sure that the USB port on your B1 accept this kind of device.

  • Acer Iconia B - Can I use a USB Dongle?

    Hello

Please let me know if I can use a USB key/Dongle USB in "Micro USB 2.0 port" for the transfer of data.

The information I have on the Iconia B1 - A71 said that the microUSB port is not a hub and port for charging and data cable connection.  You should be able to do the data transfer with the port of another computer.

  • Iconia W700P - need to access bluetooth keyboard during the boot UEFI or need to boot from a USB

Solved a problem, now face two other:

The W700P will now boot from a DVD recovery Acronis TI, but to select the restore function (then the specific restore backup), it requires an entry for a keyboard. The Bluetooth keyboard supplied with the W700P does not work during the boot sequence. I prefer not to go out and buy a USB keyboard, but it is perhaps the only option.

    Or-

The W700P boot from a USB key can stick? I read that this is impossible, but in looking at the Acer store, that's all they offer as recovery media for the W700P. I made a bootable USB key, when I bought the computer first, but I can't seem to start. All I get is repeated boot Acer screens, maybe he's trying different options in the boot order. I tried to change the order, put a password for boot and secure boot off, but I still have the same question.

    Any ideas?

Solved once and for the moment! I now have a USB hub, USB, USB and DVD USB mouse keyboard (powered externally). Throw all these things on the machine, I was able to boot into the Acronis Recovery DVD, go to the menu and reinstall a previous backup of Windows 8.1.

  • Connecting USB on ACER Iconia A3 - A10...

In addition, my ACER Iconia A3 - A10 when connected to the PC does not load as when I connect my phone to the PC... why?

It isn't quite so bad. It is likely that you load, ata rate just reduced. The more you use the Tablet so that plugged, slow it will charge. So, if you'll use only a little, you're probably better off and let it charge at the higher rate. If you are going to use it actively, just make sure you be aware that you will not win much, but are not likely to run out of juice until you are finished with your task.

  • Service & Iconia W3 Micro USB

Bought new in September at office Depot with Windows 8.

Micro USB worked for a week, they have not able to connect to anything.

Have tried to connect with 3 cables different & 3 different laptops

    I couldn't make it work.

Sent to Acer - they said that it was working fine & sent to me.

The computer SCIENCE Department at my office could not get it to work.

He sent to Acer for a second time - they said it worked very well and sent it to me.

It took Office Depot and they could not operate & called Acer.  Response is sent in there and everything would be fixed.

So we sent it to Acer for a third time.

I received it on Friday and again once they say it has been tested and passed all their tests.

Unfortunately I still can't connect what either via Micro USB.

Is there something that I am missing as a magic button to push?

Any help or explanation why his does not work would be appreciated.

When you say "three different phones" it might like you wait to do a data transfer as with an iPad or Android tablet. Bottom line is that you can not without a special cable. The W3 is a Windows Tablet and designed to operate as a stand alone with accessories and use shares network or ad-hoc to connect to another PC.

Seethis explanation of what is required to create a 'link' USB and to highlight the danger of using a simple USB cable.

  • Iconia A1-810 taken in Boot Loop in any case to get it out?

OK I admit it in a previous post, I was looking at getting the root privledges on my A1-810, I asked how to go in the Devolopers Options.

Although I had put up to open the Options Devolopers and activation of Usb Debugging Options as well.

But before I had the chance to do another thing my wife needed me to do something for her, so I stop my Tablet thinking I would come in a little bit and pick up where I left off.

    Evil

When I started the shelf upward, he went through the usual boot process, but when he got to his home screen, stop immediately, started again and stop again.

I went through this during about half an hour until I found a post on the forums that said.

DO a Hard ReSet and will arrange the problem cause something got the Boot Mbr obstructed upward, and while I would lose everything on the shelf she set it to plug the factory and repair Boot Mbr.

    Well I preformed Hard ReSet.

But it does not solve the boot loop in what it is.

While he did reset it on specifications of the factory, I could tell that he began to return to the Welcome screen that guides you through the Setup program for the first time.

You guessed it, he got to the home screen about 3 seconds later it restarted, and restarted.

It went like that for well over an hour until I stopped him, with that alone be able to do using the reset button.

A few times as it has been rebooted it came Android OS is upgraded software.

    Short saying I'm "VERY MAD".

I can't quite understand what has happened.

I never did anything, but go in the Devolopers Options.

Short of sending new in Acer to be looked at.

ANY IDEAS?    Anyway thanks for all the ideas in advance: Ricky

If the unit is still under warranty, I suggest strongly back the seller as soon as possible, and it will become a problem Acer. You did nothing wrong, there is a software failure, and we all know that Android 4.1 and 4.2 are more than obsolete, so there is probably nothing you can do.

I'm also stuck with serious problems in my Iconia B1 with 4.1.2 Android and there not there an even a chance that Acer will provide updates anytime soon, at least not in this life.
