IDE DVD drive is not showing in BIOS, but projection in computer

Hello

I recently installed a new motherboard (Asus P5LD2 REV 2.01). ALMOST everything works fine - Windows 7 is installed and giving great performances. However, the IDE DVD drive does not work very well. It is connected to the primary EIDE channel on the motherboard and will NOT show in the main screen of the BIOS. However, it will show in the BIOS priority boot device, analysis of FDI and the F8 boot Menu. It also shows in COMPUTER and disk management. The IDE DVD Player loads and plays the discs very well! The main problem with it shows is not in the BIOS is this: after the computer, the computer has been turned off for a certain period of time, when I try to turn it on it restarts several times until the "Starting Windows" stage lights. The only way to solve this problem is by entering and leaving the BIOS, or entering the F8 boot menu and selecting HARD - which always does not restart. In addition, when the computer is turned off for a long period of time, sometimes I have no display or beep MESSAGE until I have turn works a few times, or press the reset button. The hard drive shows in the BIOS and is connected to the PRI_IDE (blue) port. I tried two CD-ROM drives, to replace the DVD IDE drive, and they're just right in the computer do not give any display or beep POST. The hard drive light continues flashing in the same schema, when an IDE CD drive is connected. Without a connected optical drive, nothing works. Y at - there no fix for the problem with the DVD IDE drive not no projection in the main screen of BIOS with random restart problem? Event Viewer displays an error of power core for every time that happened.

Thank you very much!

Brandon.

    Hello

Check / settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 so watch the screen as it starts - place CD/DVD
1st in the boot order (remember to put it at the time where the fact).

Then put in a DVD to boot Windows and see if the driver works.

If it doesn't then it's a hardware problem.

    =======================================

If the drive has worked in the test above, that these can help:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

    Hello

    (1) does the BIOS see the main hard disk drive or a secondary hard drive?

    (2) remember to make changes to the computer before the show?

You know may not be not that most systems are set to show only the splash screen. If you go into the BIOS Setup, it should show the disks that have been detected on two primary and secondary IDE channels.

Note: the basic procedure to change the setting of the disk controller is to restart your computer and enter the system BIOS. The most common method is to press F2 to enter Setup, (another PC may use a different key). On the BIOS screen, find the setting that offers the AHCI, ATA or IDE and RAID. If the parameter is set to AHCI, change the setting to ATA. Restart the PC on the Windows installation disc

Warning: Incorrect settings in the system BIOS can cause your PC function incorrectly. If you are not familiar with the configuration of the BIOS of the system, you must contact the PC manufacturer for assistance.

Try the steps in the following article and check if it helps.

    Hello

If the CD/DVD drive is not listed in the Device Manager and BIOS, it seems to be defective and must be replaced.
What do you think about this?

You can exchange the car yourself. Check for a compatible CD/DVD Player user manual or go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can order a new drive to swap.

Sorry, but if the drive is not listed in the BIOS seems to be defective.

    Begging you a lot
    Michael Borger

In my view BIOS update will not change.
I assume that the reader has worked in the past with the same BIOS version
It is a drive hardware problem or some registry keys are corrupt.

I think that it s a hardware malfunction may be a matter of lenses.
    But try this;
Remove the drive from Device Manager and shut the laptop computer. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again. Then you can check the functionality.

Otherwise, you can remove the disk from the laptop, and then start the laptop without the drive. Then stop the laptop, put the drive in the notebook and start over.
    The firmware should again loads.

But if these procedures help t, I don t see it differently as for replace the drive

If I wanted to change to 32 bit how you take you without the CD/DVD drive?

    Hello

To be honest I m a bit confused.
You are not able to boot from THE disks; Windows disk, disk recovery, disk Linux?

If it of the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is faulty.
Why? Because the CD/DVD drive is recognized and controlled by the BIOS when booting from CD or DVD.

When the Windows operating system has started, the CD/DVD drive must use the Microsoft common driver which is part of the Windows operating system.
This means that you n t need to install ALL the drivers in order to get the job of CD/DVD.

If you can boot from any disk, but if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized by MY computer, then I recommend this:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

Before you remove the upper and lower registry filters, remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and then go into the registry and remove the filters. Restart the unit.

    Good luck

If the solution proposed by James will not help, you should try to remove the drive to CD/DVD in Device Manager.
After phone restart the operating system will recognize and initialize the disk again.
After this review of the procedure if you can read, write the middle.

    Hello

Sounds like the hard drive has failed, or other hardware issues affecting the reader by the mother-
    Board or wiring.

Check with Lenovo support, online documentation and diagnostics and ask questions about known issues in their
    forums.
