IdeaPad y460p - swap bios CTRL and FN keys

Hi all

I saw messages for other lenovo systems that allow to swap the mapping of the FN keys and keys CTRL at the bottom left of the keyboard.

Anyone know if this update is available / under development? It would help a lot because my work laptop has the CTRL down left and its scaring me (and slow me down).

Thanks in advance!

Mark

as you can see here, it is available for y460 (may not be suitable for y460p) but it is not official and if you treat the operation, your motherboard may be dead and because it is not official patch, the warranty covers the damage.

and I don't think that lenovo will release an official patch to swap keys.

  • CHANGE of SIZE of the BRUSH WITH CTRL and alt KEYS

    Hi all

I'm on the road with my new macbook, and I have a problem with setting up my wacom pen.

At home I use an iMac with CS5 and to change the brush size, I press alt and CTRL key and move the pen left/tight up/down to size of chang and hardnes of the brush. I find it very convenient!

On my new Macbook, I have CC and I don't have the ability to use this easy key combination, I was loking autour and some google, but I have found the place to get the same settings on my macbook.

    Thank you very much.

When you hold down Option/Alt + Control and left mouse click and drag anything happens?

The Option/Alt key should always be the second key to the left of the SPACEBAR

  • Control (Ctrl) and function (Fn) keys are exchanged on the ProBook s 4530. How can I restore it?

I have the HP ProBook s 4530, who worked as expected i.e. keys Ctrl and Fn keys work properly. Now somehow these two keys are reversed and I want to restore as well as Ctrl Key functions as Ctrl key. Please note that I am running Windows 7 on this computer. How can I restore it?

Finally I could solve the problem by following the steps mentioned below:

    1. Switch off the machine
    2. Removed the a/c power and battery and waited a few seconds
    3. Attached battery and put on the machine...

    and the problem was solved!

  • Cut and paste keys on the keyboard

Why person don't never had the idea to put one copy and paste the key on a keyboard (for example, the Microsoft keyboard).

(similar to the back, forward, stop, refresh and house keys)

It would be mapped (obviously) at and respectively and save me for RSI in twenty years.

It seems to me that it would be a unique selling point.

I asked the origin of Bill Gates (* address email is removed from the privacy *) this issue, but he did not.  :-)

It is difficult for me to see that by pressing CTRL + C or CTRL + V is more difficult or more likely to cause some RSI with one touch, but if you install an application like AutoHotKey or even Microsoft's IntelliType, you can write a macro that will do what you want with a single key press.  If your keyboard left and right of the CTRL and ALT keys, you could do a game keys copy / paste.

I don't know what you mean by keys 'Stop' and 'Refresh', unless you are referring to the ESC and F5.

  • CTRL and alt does not when you select the picture to join

I'm not very techno and hope someone can help me find an answer... when trying to select multiple photos to attach to the e-mail, I used to use the CTRL and ALT keys to select several photos.  This does not work for me now.  Are there settings that I can change to get this working again?

ALT? Are you sure? CTRL + click (for the selection of random photos)
or shift-click (to select an entire group) works for me.

  • Shortcut Ctrl + Shift + arrow key doesn't seem to work

I only started using Windows 7 a few days ago (new computer came pre-installed), and I seem not to be able to select text by using the shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + key management (to select text). Because it is a little the keystone of what I do for a living (writing and editing text), I'm naturally upset.

I don't know if it's because for one reason or another the shortcut no longer exists in Windows 7 (but I expected more hits from google and General hoohah if this is the case), or maybe because I mucked with the locale of Windows when he started everything first. After all, Ctrl + Shift is here as a possible shortcut to change the settings (which suggests a potential conflict). I had trouble original, namely how to replace the default Windows come with locales and eventually remove and reconfigure the settings several times until I got what I wanted. Maybe I saw something up along the way without realizing it?

Right now I use the keyboard layout United States (native English), UK regional settings (date time, etc.), but have a German version of Windows, if it has been initially implemented differently. I made sure that Ctrl + Shift is NOT selected as a shortcut to change the language settings - basically he has that one language, set up and all the shortcuts are disabled in the window.

I had also several popups triggered inadvertently accessibility and have no idea how I responded to them. I disabled everything that I could find in this regard to little too (as again the Ctrl and shift keys can behave differently).

I have two keyboards, and both have the same problem; I tested this on a XP computer, and the shortcut works very well-only is not the keyboard.

I found someone else asking the same question elsewhere on the net, but it is impossible to find an answer...

    So:
The shortcut still exists (I guess for this)
No idea how to get it back?

Solved the problem - was not Windows, it's the stupid software that came with my screen using the same shortcuts. Disabled the software, everything works again.

    Hello

The priority of the Fn key is usually changes in the BIOS. I recommend you contact the manufacturer of the computer on this issue.

    Note:
Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. • Expansion or dé - one screen with CTRL - and CTRL + breeze a div in iframe in a containing more or less random ad. These keys have other meanings?

In Internet Explorer, Chrome and torch pages can be increased / decreased at will by using 'CTRL -' and ' CTRL + '. Not the case in Firefox.
It breaks a line a line with photos randomly. The right picture more moves to the left underneath, as if the div becomes smaller.
But a second or a third or a nth CTRL-/ + fix the situation. You can see for yourself on www.vakantiehuiszonneweelde.nl
The site is a "margin: auto container ' with navigation header and a content div. The problems occur within the content DIV. In one page, I use a lib (sort of lightbox) Magicthumb. This lib is the troublemaker?

  • How to lock and unclock key FN?

Hi, I have a laptop HP Pavilian DV7, and I wanted to know how to lock the function key. I saw in other websites that say just keep it pressed, press fn + NumLock, fn + F11 and fn + scroll, but none of those who work for me. Can someone help me please?

lock the key Fn in the sense you use the function keys (F1, F2, F3...) + FN key combinations without using the FN key then the simple way of locking of the fn's boot in the bios by using the F10 key at startup which is used on most computers laptops hp, then in the bios screen select the option configuration. under the system configuration, you will find something like mode of action keys and make it active and then save the changes and exit the bios screen. hope that the problem will be solved on restart for unlock get in the bios screen and disable the action mode keys.

Turn it on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a few seconds and unit is forced from the CD/DVD drive.

  • Satellite L300 - 'W' and 'F' keys not working do not - cannot open a session

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300.
My 'F' and 'w' keys do not work and because I have a built-in HARD drive password containing these letters, I can't start my computer.

I got a problem "starting" a few months back, and what I had to do was restore my laptop to an earlier date. I did it through management of Boot at startup. The only thing is that I don't remember how to do it now.

I can't find the restore disks that could come with my laptop - so the only way I can do, thanks to a Startup Manager.

So, how do you do a system restore? or y at - it another way to solve this problem?

    Help, please! :)

    Hello

If I understand your case, the HARD disk password has been set and now you are not able to boot the laptop because the password can not be typed due to the defective keyboard.
    Right?

Hmm, replace the keyboard buddy I think it's just the ideal solution.
Of course, you can try to plug an external USB keyboard but I don't know if it will generally work at the BIOS level, it should work, but in the worst case you will need a new internal keyboard m.
