No virtual USB port printer and device option think its an IEEE 1284.4 print media device

I read a number of threads and can still not my problem fixed.  I have a Dell box running Windows XP SP3 and tries to connect to a printer of labels Zebra GX420t via a USB connection.  He was not to recognize the printer and I think I inadvertently he associated with the generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support driver.  I really need a usbprint driver.  Now, whenever I connect the printer, I get the yellow symbol in the Device Manager and I do not know how to change the driver to a USB driver.  I plug the printer even in my Windows 7 box and it uses a virtual USB port and the same thing happens when I plug it into my laptop running XP SP3.  No virtual USB port is an option on my desk.  Any thoughts?

Just to close this thread...

I ended up using the original XP Pro disc to 'fix' the corrupted files.  It was a disc of SP2, so I had to make all the updates to get back to where I was.  NA not losing all the data (which was nice).  Once all updates have been made, I plugged the printer without loading all the drivers and loaded.  Looked in Device Manager and it was listed as a USB Printer Support under USB device.  When I looked in the server properties/Ports, there was my virtual USB device I was hoping.

I finished loading the drivers updated from a 3rd party (Seagull Scientific... well known for printer drivers label for most of the large manufacturers) and then deleted the old set to the top.  Once again, everything is good.

Other corrupted files, I can't explain it all.  I had already reloaded the USBPRINT.sys and the USBMON. DLL and that didn't fix it.  Glad everything is good.  All else fails, start over.

Thanks for the help.

  • Problem with the USB ports, coast and Bluetooth in Satellite A100-237

Hello, I own a laptop Satellite A100-237 and I have an annoying problem for quite a while now. The two USB ports in the side as well as the Bluetooth device will not work. What is the bluetooth device is it is simply not recognized by the system, as if it wasn't there (it is said the installation of the driver too) while any device I connect to USB ports side does not work either.
The other two USB ports in the back work very well.

    Hello

Maybe this two ports are really defective, and there is not much to say. You will get your laptop for repair, or you live with it and use the other two USB ports. Sorry, but I see your ad as a report short and not as some to ask for help.

    Bye and good luck!

  • HP ENVY 17 t-k000 CTO Notebook: 1missing driver and USB ports Plug and unplug every 5 minutes on the left side

This laptop has 3 USB ports and the 2 on the left side to keep disconnection and reconnection, but recently it has begun to cut the full power of the 2 on the left even if I use a different mouse it will even turn and I have to use the touchpad. I tested with other mice, and the issue remains the same for the USB ports.

I was told 2 solutions where I have to reapply thermal paste and take it apart to remove the dust in the motherboard and fans.

The second solution is to get the driver missing 1 of Device Manager and make install in the hope that the USB ports are linked to it. I reinstalled the USB 3.0 driver and he got one of them then down to 1.

Power management suspend state link and selective are both disabled so this isn't the issue. And my computer did not freeze or close from overheating what happens in computers with severe cases of overheating.

    Hello

Check the status of the device in Device Manager. Follow the steps for the same thing:

    a. click on start

    b. click Run, in the Run dialog box type devmgmt.msc

    c. in the Device Manager window, locate the USB key and expand the drive, double-click the sub element to check if an error message or error code is listed.

If there is no error message highlight Bus USB controllers and then click Action select check for material changes.

    Hi Raven,

Do you have third-party security programs installed on the computer?

Basically, if the internet works in safe mode and not works in normal mode, not applications or third-party security programs can be in conflict with the drivers from the internet.

As a solution, I suggest to uninstall the anti-virus program and check if it works in normal mode.

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Virtual USB port

I am trying to install an HP Laserjet 1012. My computer has Vista Home Premium. I downloaded the 64-bit driver for HP and the installation of the printer is connected to a generic IEEE printer port not USB virtual printer. The printer is very slow (20 to 25 seconds delay) between the command print and real output to the printer. It is a one-page letter. I can only imagine what a large document would be. Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you

Thank you for using the Microsoft Vista Community Forum.
