  With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key.   Please try to download the patch manually from the link below and install the same safe mode:

  If it still appears in the Windows updates, try the following steps and install updates:

  1 restart the computer in safe mode (to restart in mode safe keep pressing the F8 key during restart)

  3. in the list right click on CMD , and then click Run as administrator

  4. at the command prompt, type net stop cryptsvc of the

  5. rename the folder C:\ \System32\Catroot2 Windowsin Catroot2.old

  6 open the C:\ folder and then rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution as SoftwareDistribution.oldWindows

  7. at the command prompt, type net start cryptsvc of the

  8 restart the computer in normal mode

  9. run updates and check if you are able to get the updates without any error

  Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

  I read your post on your question of activation of Win10 and wanted to help.

  In Win10, the product key is stored in the motherboard UEFI firmware.  Because you're not change that, you risk to disable.

  In addition, the activation key is stored on servers for Activation of MS, and that information are NOT linked to the HARD or SDD drive you are using.  I can say this because once I got Win10 works as I wanted, I migrated there a disk HARD of a DDI and nothing has changed - except the performance is much improved!

  New CD no longer exists.

  Since you still have the valid key, you need to somehow know is how to get one of these CDs. If you're lucky, you know someone who has one. It will work with your key. But it must be authentic, of course!

  It is OEM, sale retail or Volume Licensing? If it is OEM, the tile should be on your CPU. If it's retail, should be on the back of the box. If it's VL, then you should see in https://eopen.microsoft.com.
