iMac 5 k only power off

I have an iMac 5 k (with 1 year warranty expires soon) which works perfectly until recently. It seems to out of himself. The screen goes suddenly completely dark and keyboard led light would come on and then off. It happened three times and all three times, I was looking through a bunch of photos. The first two times, I was looking through my photos stored on an external HARD drive. I was checking the heart (Fav) on a bunch of photos. At first maybe, I thought my ext HDD was the cause of the problem but the third time it happened, I did not plug it into any ext HDD but accesses a folder in my iMac.

Now, once the screen goes black, I can't do anything. If I press the power button, it does nothing. I can't get going to unplug the power cord or turn the switch on the socket. I would get no error code or any message at all once it restarts after I pressed the power button.

This is my first time using an iMac. My warranty expires and I'm wondering now if I should extend the warranty. I was going to because of the cost. Is there a mistake I can look to see what's happening log files?

Thanks in advance for your help and answers

Mac (retina 5K, 27 inches, end of 2014)

El Capitan 10.11.3

My original RAM is 8 gb and I have not upgraded it.

It is not common to Apple products by hard drive itself. No doubt your external disc brakes inside the content using USB dock.

  • HP Color LaserJet M277dw MFP: Disable auto power off after inactivity for HP Color LaserJet M277dw MFP

    What is the purpose of mobile printing solutions if you cannot activate your home printer?
    My printer stop automatically after 8 hours of inactivity and therefore makes it impossible for me to use mobile printing. The printer is connected via WLAN (without active ports to stop the closing).
    In the configuration, there are only options to stop after 2, 4 or 8 hours. No option on disabling of automatic shutdown.
    Pls do that for the people who work on the firmware updates, they must include an option to disable auto power off, many people are already complaining that and nothing has changed so far.
    Its just illogical. You make big announcements for HP eprint and other stuff, but your printers are not able to do so even if you could theoretically make eprint if your standing next to your printer all day.
    I just got this printer pluged and installed and already tired of this BS!
    I know that there is no solution, so just send it to the people who can change it.

    for all of you who read this post, I was in contact with the technical team of HP and they said that they don't give you the ability to disable auto power off on purpose, it is HPs energy-economy-policy to do and there are no plans to change this in the future
    in my case, I only WLAN's, yet is not automatically stop (although it should be), I guess I'm lucky that my router it ping every now and then and is therefore not stop
    If you can't fix it yourself with active ports and may not have at all, it will probably not option left than the back of the printer

  • Pavilion 15: Power off

    I have to use the shift with off switch key (on windows 8) to power the laptop off, if I use only only its turning off the display only, but is always cut power off button.

    Hello

    Try disabling the hybrid Windows 8 start - you can do the following.

    Right-click the battery icon, and select Power Options.  In the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

    In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close all open windows and check if the laptop will now be shut down properly.

    If this has fixed the problem, it may be useful by turning the quick start back on - sometimes simply remove and re-create the file will solve the problem.

    Kind regards

  • W510 LED next to the fingerprint sensor stays on after turning the power on power off

    Just got W510 (4318-CTO, i7, 16GB, Windows 7).  After the green light on the left side of the fingerprints off the power sensor stays on, even after the removal of the AC adapter, close the lid, lid of reopening.  Removing the battery is the only thing it turns off.

    I hit the sensor and the green light came out and a red on the right side then flashed the Green came out again.

    It's normal.  You can turn on your laptop and log in all with a single blow.  Try it.  Power off your system and then drag your finger.  If it's a good shot and it is recognized, you are to go turned off to the turning on and connected in your office all with one shot.  You won't even have to re-do slide to authenticate with the operating system.

    U2415 - artifacts monitor after power off for a period of time

    I'm running Win 8 Pro 64 bit, Asus GTX 760. Connected to the U2415 using the miniDP to DP cable.

    It is: after turning off my monitor for a period of time (PC fixed IT), 2 hours or more, after turning it back on, I see lines on the screen.

    I will need to restart the PC for it to be back to normal.

    It will not happen if I turned OFF the monitor for a short period. Only when I turned OFF for a few hours.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

    I downloaded a video on Dropbox. I had it turned on after turning off for about 3 hours.

    Hi Chris, just an update.

    A local forumer had discovered how to solve.

    It was the scene of DP1.2. By default, it is set to "Disable". After that I put to 'Activate' and test it for 2 days, everything seems fine now.

    Hopefully someone will find this useful.

    Thanks Chris.

  • Power off / power on the script

    I have upcoming maintenance windows and I want to see if it is possbile to this script...

    I would like to stop all powered from the virtual computer in a cluster. If the VM tools are not installed, turn off the virtual machine.

    In a second script, turn on all the VMS that have closed or off the previous script. I don't want power on all virtual machines, that those who worked before. I join the only power over 10 virtual machines at once every 5 minutes (in order to avoid a quarrel of storm and start resources).

    -James

    For the 2nd script, we use the .csv 1 script file.

    This give a try.

    $start = Get-Date
    $names = Import-Csv "C:\Temp\cluster-vm-stopped.csv"
    $total = 0
    while($total -le $names.Count){
      1..10 | %{
        if($names[$total]){
          Start-VM -VM (Get-VM -Name $names[$total]) -Confirm:$false -RunAsync
          $total++
        }
      }
      while((Get-Date - $start).TotalMinutes -lt 5){

      $start = Get-Date

  • Random VM power off

    At the time, all the virtual machines on one of my hosts (Host1) just turned off. The only entrance to task was 'HA Configuration on Host1' and it was initiated by the system, because it seems that there is no username listed in draft. I've been able to be able to only save the right virtual machines and expereienced almost no downtime. Just a little weird just VMs would come down like that on a single host.

    Any ideas?

    You have a power outage or your heart rate host is disconnected by accident?  If you check the settings of cluster HA, and under "Host Isolation responds" they all set?  If it has 'Power Off' that could be the problem if the pulse network is isolated.  But you haven't noticed anything on your network or problem of the power of the host server for the moment so I don't know what are the causes.  Did you check all the logs that point to specific events.

    If you found this information useful, please consider awarding points to 'Correct' or 'useful '. Thank you!!!

  • Bug: iOS 10, Siri invades even lock screen with power off

    iOS 10, Siri invades even lock screen with power off

    Since the upgrade to iOS 10 (iPhone 5 s) siri appears when I forgetting to unlock my phone because I'm not used to this way to unlock yet. But siri on lock screen is disabled in the settings. I can close siri all together, but I don't consider it as an option.

    Is this a bug in the iOS 10 or did I miss something?

    Hello nick_ve,

    Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    I see that since you have upgraded to iOS 10, Siri starts each time you try to unlock your iPhone and Siri on the lock screen is disabled in the settings. I completely understand, because when I upgraded, it took me a few tries to get adjusted to unlock with the Home key. I'm more than happy to help you with this.

    Press the Home button on your iPhone 5s once unlocks the screen, and freezes for more than one second will activate Siri. It is good to keep this in mind when you unlock your iPhone.

    There is also an alternative solution I would like to share with you. You can disable this option in settings > general > accessibility > Home button. Turn the finger remains open. You can unlock the iPhone with Touch ID without having to press the Home button.

    Have a wonderful day!

    How I bounce back without having to change the setting of 'Protection against overload only' amateur off EACH time?

    This setting should be preserved, once you set it... so I'm not sure why you have to define every time...

    Then... Make sure that you put on ALL the tools of the art of logic in the preferences of LPX...

    Otherwise... you may need to reset the prefs of LPX... Put all the Tools Advanced again and the other preferences you have set... and see if that fixes things for you...

    You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not affect your media files. To reset your settings preferences of the user to Logic Pro X to their original state, do the following:

    1. Logic Pro X to quit smoking
    2. In the Finder, select go to folder menu reach.
    3. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the field 'go to folder '.
    4. Press the Go button.
    5. Delete the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you set custom shortcuts, it will reset to the default values. You can export your custom key as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X user manual for details on how to do this.
    6. If you are having problems with a control surface in Logic Pro X, you can also delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file in the Preferences folder.
    7. Restart the computer.

    Note: If you cannot find the files listed above, you don't follow the instructions properly!
