iMac restarts no menu

End of 2013 iMac, El Capitan 10.11.5, does not restart in the main menu and not the login screen restart. When selected restart, the screen becomes black for a little, then the cursor happens and things stop there. I let this sit for 5 minutes without change. I run disk first aid utility, reset the SMC, PRAM. I haver started in SafeMode with success but restarting then gives the same result. I don't think I can update to 10.11.6 since a reboot is required, and I doubt that the update can do the restart.

In all other aspects, the iMac seems to work fine.

Ideas/suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

John

really, there is no reason to start even regularly your cc desktop app.  you only need to run once every 30 (if you have a monthly subscription) to 91 (if you have an annual report) days.

in preferences, you can disable the desktop application start automatically when you start your computer.

  • Would never be able to stop or restart the computer in the menu after the 10.11.5 update and cannot get the 10.11.6 because iMac restart

After the 10.11.5 update, that I could never restart or shut down my iMac (late 2013, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) using the new menu. I can only stop it by pressing the button for a few seconds. I saw a few discussions addressing the question here and have tried to implement some of the solutions proposed, such as restarting in safe mode, deleting the application from Wacom-, but nothing has worked. Now I can't get the 10.11.6 updating or update my Adobe Creative cloud, incidentally, which became available to me, because I can't restart the computer. Do you know if this update would be better and solve the problem? Is there a way I can get this update even if I cannot restart the computer, or even to restore the system to an earlier version?

  • iMac restarts after sleep

Problems lately with my iMac 27 "5 K. After putting to sleep, it is restarts after about 2 hours.  If I wake up it before that date, it is usually very good. But after 2 hours, it restarts. Sometimes, I find it just be stopped. Most of the time when it restarts itself, it crashes with this gray bar filled about 80% progress.  I have reset the PRAM and EMS, checked all the settings in power management (not set to restart after power failure for example).

Another problem I 'bypassed' which may or may not be related (I'm including in case it is related) is that on El Capitan, my magic trackpad would randomly wake the iMac.  I had to disable the option to allow devices BT wake up the Mac. When I upgraded to Sierra, the iMac still wake up randomly due to an event of BT. After a lot of trial and error, activate the option "allow bluetooth to computer devices" back prevented the wake-ups at random and let me wake up the computer again deliberately with the trackpad.  Very strange.

In any case, I'm usually pretty ingenious to resolve this sort of thing myself, but the Console to Sierra news is terrible. Or maybe it's the system logs that are terrible, because I can't find anything about the causes of previous judgment that might provide a clue as to what is happening here.

So, any advice on how to solve the problem or at least to determine the causes of the previous stop would be greatly appreciated!

  • iMac restarts after 5 minutes of the heavy load of CPU/GPU and noisy fan

    Hello

My iMac (late 2012 if I remember) restarts when under heavy load for a while.

I work a lot with Final Cut Pro X.

Whenever I have add clips in an event, Final Cut allows you to copy and then transcode and analyze the clips, and this task's CPU/GPU intensive (Final Cut Pro X uses OpenCL, where CPU/GPU). After a few seconds, the iMac fan begins to be really strong and seems to reach its maximum speed.

Then, after a few minutes of this heavy burden, the iMac simply restarts, and the fan slows down and stop. After the reboot, everything is back to normal, with the exception of the warning illustrated by Mac OS X, who said that the closure was not planned.

I'm sure that this behavior is not normal. I don't see why a computer should reboot/crash when under heavy load.

Note: you can also, to transcode some clips or movies I used the excellent software called Handbrake, using CPU only encoder ffmpeg, and I don't remember having accidents even if the CPU has been loaded and FAN running loud too. So maybe it has something to do with GPU?

How can I understand what is happening?

    Thank you very much.

  • 5 k iMac restarts on its own after you install 10.11.4

    Hello

I installed 10.11.4 March 24 (I think), and since that day my iMac has been unstable. It restarts on its own, like a kernel panic, but never logging in a kernel panic. This restart does not seem to be triggered by software I run because I removed some things to try to isolate the problem.

Yesterday Apple Support told me reinstall the operating system via the startup cmd - r option, and that did not solve the problem... he ate just one hour of my time.

Any suggestions? My iMac is spent super stable and super unstable; now, it's worse than my pc game Windows for stability.

It closed completely and restart with a chime, or is it just disconnect you?

  • iMac restarts again and again. Help! 10.11.3 OSX

Just last week, I've updated my iMac 21 "OSX 10.11.3 via the App Store. For the first days it was working fine, but now it suddenly stops and restarts by itself, sometimes showing the kernel panic screen, others restarts and after a few minutes, even an hour, start again.

I even reinstalled the Combo Update 10.11.3 even Delta update and download it from the Apple Support page, thinking that it will be take care of the problem, but no, the computer keeps restarting.

After the update, I have installed new software, but I don't know if it is a conflict of the update with my machine or is in conflict with any software installed.

Already ran utility disk to see if she could fix any problem, but it does not have any question and shows everything is fine, but this isn't true.

    Can someone help me?

  • Intel iMac restart

I unplugged my iMac as it ran, it does not restart.

Unplugged the power cord, waited fifteen seconds, reconnect the power cord, wait five seconds, and then you press the power button / stop. Nothing!

Why you would be to unplug the computer when it is running and when you unplug it, the back of the computer or the walls? Or, you can try a reset SMC and LANDAU, but if these does not work you probably damaged something and need to take service to your local Apple authorized Service provider.

  • Mid-2015 iMac restart in Windows Installer 10

    Hi people,

I have an iMac 27 "retina brand new, mid-2015.

I am trying to install Windows 10 (or, really, any version of Windows) to this topic via Bootcamp in a dual-boot scenario, so that I can do some games through Steam.

I downloaded the iso last 10 Microsoft Windows.

Bootcamp Assistant partitioning the disk, but when it restarts, it does not in the installer of Windows 10. Instead, there is a delayed start-up period, and then it shock me back in Mac OS X. Holding keys option does not have a bootable Windows 10 option. However, the disk has been partitioned - the Windows partition appears on the Mac OS X desktop and in disk utility.

I know that Microsoft has recently updated the Windows 10 isos, and I suspect what is happening here is that Deputy Bootcamp has not yet taken.

I also suspect that this problem is pretty widespread.

Can someone let me know what I need to do? I also have a Windows 7 disc, but the Bootcamp Assistant says I need Windows 8 minimum... and Microsoft sells more copies of Windows 8.

    Kind regards

    Renai

  • iMac restarts randomly

I don't know why or how, but according to these logs it looks like little to your new iMac it's a MacBook Pro...?

That won't work at all, because the version of the MacBook Pro software does not support the hardware of the iMac.

See > use the version of Mac OS X included with your Mac, or a newer version compatible - Apple Support

At this point, yes it might be useful to display your report EtreCheck.

But to be honest, it really looks like you need start again and reinstall the version OS X OK for the iMac.

According to > on OS X Recovery - Apple Support

Then just put on your media files to user for the new iMac and nothing else of the old system. If you need to replace any OS X App or third-party software? You must download and replace them with new versions, not the old ones of the old system.
