Import Windows XP Mode

First, I choose "Import Windows XP Mode" Reader 3.1 that it worked fine. Then I moved things on my computer and reloaded a bunch of stuff.

Now, when I choose "Import Windows XP Mode" I get a message telling me that VMware Player can't find the vhd file to «D:\Windows XP Mode\»... ».

Well no, it isn't there anymore; That's where Windows 7 he wants now.

I can't find any file or setting registry where VMWare Player takes over the old address and you really don't understand why, if VMWare does not find a file, it doesn't give you a chance so that it points to the appropriate place in all cases.

It must be in a configuration file so that I can change, isn't there? Anyone know?

I'm always curious to know why the creators have not seen fit to allow to choose a place to import the virtual machine XP Mode, however

Well, that would be an option, but 99,999999% of the population would be ONLY install 1 copy of the XP mode AND they would not uninstall it, only to reinstall to a different location, so in fact, there is only one source for mode XP anyway, so I see this as a non-issue.

Elsewhere, it would seem that you have changed manually, the location that is probably not taken in charge by both XP mode, then you did something out of the ordinary, so taking this all into account, I would say it was a unique case.

    Hello

in this forum I read that there should be an "import Windows XP Mode VM" - option in the file menu if the Windows XP Mode is installed.

But I installed XP Mode W AFTER VMw Player. Later, I tried a repair of VMw Player and later a de - and reinstall to see if the option appeared then - but no.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the option to appear - or should I just create a virtual machine from a XP pro CD?

  • Windows XP mode virtual machine does not start after the upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello

After the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro for Windows 10 Pro, my virtual Windows XP machine (which was created from the "XP" mode in Windows 7) no longer starts.

    It shows:

This system is not allowed to run "Windows XP Mode". Now, the virtual machine will be turned off.

How can I activate the Windows XP Mode in Windows 10 Pro? I mean, I have not lost my right to run Windows XP Mode, just because I've upgraded to Windows 10, right?

    Hello

How can I activate the Windows XP Mode in Windows 10 Pro? I mean, I have not lost my right to run Windows XP Mode, just because I've upgraded to Windows 10, right?

I fear that the statement is pretty much on the mark.

Microsoft caught only supported XP Mode in Windows 7, it has been since Windows 8.

You might be able to extract the folder integer vhd it and import it in VMware Workstation as a separate virtual machine. In the end, 'XP Mode' just was running a virtual machine in your Windows 7 after all.

  • VMWare Workstation 8 and/or Windows XP Mode

Level of experience:: I am an expert on ESXi but know almost nothing on my computer.  I bought 6 Workstation and got a free upgrade to 6.5.  I created a virtual in Windows 2000 Server machine that our accounting is on and the accountant can join.  I just was clicking the shortcut VM since 2008 button to start the virtual machine.  I have heard of the unit, but do not completely understand.  I also know nothing about another XP mode that what I saw in a video online.  I know it is possible to install Workstation and Windows XP Mode, but the two cannot be active at the same time.

The situation:  I have a new computer Dell laptop, M6600 w/i7 and Windows 7 64 Pro.  My old laptop has XP Pro 32.  I hae a development environment that I use which is 32 bits, but also uses some 16-bit utilities.  They have newer versions of the software, but it is less productive, and the old software generates 32 and 64 bit apps more efficiently, with fewer bugs and run much faster than my Microsoft .NET languages.  So, I maintain about 3 million lines of code in this language.  I have to say to anyone that is trying to maintain current information in two places and never have what it takes with you, so I want to move everything to the new laptop.  I need to be able to P2V and bring in the servers from client to the prototype network changes prior to deployment.  My ESXi boxes are through the VPN, so I need to do on the spot, and my laptop is what I bring to clients.  The new laptop has a quad i7 with 32 GB of RAM, 1 1/4 TB of disk space, consisting of a Crucial M4 512 GB SSD and Seagate Momentus 750, and eSata 3 and 3 USB ports.  Virtual machines will fall under Windows servers, Unix servers, and sometimes ESXi with UNIX VMs, which I know will be slow under the virtualized ESXi.

Thoughts:  What first reading it sounded like XP Mode would be transparent and that the C drive of the XP Mode is drive C of the host.  I have since read this is not the case, and that it is just a virtual machine with its own virtual hard disk.  I learned that when you install an application in XP Mode, it appears on the menu Windows 7 64 start, and when you launch it, the application is running in a window on the Windows 7 Desktop, almost as if it were a native application in Windows 7.  It would be nice instead of dealing with another office.  Workstation, said it allows to import the virtual machine XP Mode, but can only run one copy at a time.  I thought that disappointment, that I would need to run more than one old app at a time, but then I thought about it, and I guess in XP mode, they are simply short several app out of the virtual machine even with XP Mode also.  If I could get the same behavior integrated 8 workstations that I can with the XP Mode, then I would reflect the OS disk to the new computer on a hot spare, install XP mode copy on the virtual machine, install the original disks, set up 8 Workstation, re-import the virtual hard drive in my computer and delete the virtual hard disk.  Then I wouldn't need to have two virtual environments that cannot play together.

    Issues related to the:
1 Workstation 8, can I have applications in the menu start of Windows 7 64 embarking inside a virtual machine, without showing the desktop of the guest operating system, like I can with Windows XP Mode?  If the answer is Yes, it runs automatically launch the virtual machine where the app?
    2. If the answer to the point 1 is Yes, it is Windows XP Mode have all the advantages for me who don't Workstation 8?

    Thanks TONS!

Workstation is not automatically add apps to the start menu of the host, but you can make them yourself.  When the virtual machine is in the mode of the unit, use the launch of the unit menu to navigate the start menu of the guest. Right click on the application shortcut and select 'Create shortcut on the desktop.'  You can also run the application, click its button on the taskbar, and then PIN to the taskbar.  You can then run the application later using these shortcuts, and workstation will start the virtual machine and Unity mode if necessary.

  • Cannot add the find now is in the Tools menu when you try to install add to import Windows Live messages, contacts, etc.

I want to import Windows Live 2011 messages, contacts, etc and tried to install the recommended add on. I downloaded and registered the add on by following the instructions, but when I went on the Tools menu, to add on the of are not there to complete the installation.

Add what ons reports tools when you use the menu bar. Shortcuts universal to display hidden menu bars is alt or F10

It looks like you use the button AppMenu (3 horizontal lines).
I guess that you haven't noticed the Add-ons selection in the main menu when you have clicked on that.

  • Tungsten T3 Hot Sync in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and WIndows XP mode

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and now my Palm T3 will not be synchronized.  I downloaded desktop 4.1.4e 6.3 and 4.1.4. I tried all three in both windows 7 and windows XP mode that tells me is a 32-bit o/s but I'm really not sure.  I tried to hot sync in bluetooth in windows 7, as the T3 and laptop connect but he always tells me that the port is used by another program? Does anyone know what I have to do to get it to sync or am I've sentenced to throw my faithful T3 out? Any ideas?

Hello eaglesfan723 and welcome to the forums of Palm.

The Tungsten T3 HotSync driver is not 64-bit capable, this is why you can't get the T3 to HotSync.  Please read this thread to learn more about your options with Windows 7.

    Hello

I guess that this is caused by the graphics chip, it is possible that caused graphics card driver problems related to bad entries in the registry or in the worst case the graphics chip could badly run.

  • Windows XP mode / Windows virtual PC

I have to support some programs LV7.1 (and newer versions).  I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit edition.  LV7.1 loads and runs, but the drivers disk pours on the 64-bit operating system.  (This was not unexpected...)

The new PC he has an Intel processor supporting Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode.

I need to upgrade to W7 Pro, but before I do, I want to get some feelings that it will work.  If older NIDaq, MAX, etc. Install OK in XP mode?  If someone has done this?  Is there another solution which is better?

    Hi John,.

NOR-traditional DAQ won't work on Windows 7 64-bit at all, even if you install the (very limited) driver beta OR - traditional DAQ 7.5.   I do not work with LabVIEW license much (data acquisition is my spring) but I understand that you can have different versions on different computers.  If this is the case, you must use OR-DAQmx 9.0.2 with LabVIEWs 8.2.1 and 8.5.1 8.6.1.  NOR-DAQmx 9.0.2 is the first version 'officially' supported on Windows 7, both 32 - and 64-bit.  As long as you use a 32-bit version of LabVIEW (which, if you're not using LabVIEW 2009, it will be inherently 32-bit) you binaries will work fine.

Note: When I say "as long as you use a 32-bit version of LabVIEW' I do not mean a version that does not work on a 64 bit OS.  This section of the knowledge base, LabVIEW 64-bit vs 32-Bit Applications FAQ, explained part of the difference.  The main thing to keep in mind is that because Windows Vista and Windows 7 can emulate 32-bit programs to 64-bit well enough, you can still use a version of LabVIEW which is only 32-bit on a 64-bit computer.

I don't know the number of tests we did install older versions of LabVIEW as 8.2.1 on Windows 7, but I guess it should work fine.  I would recommend this install it:

    1. LabVIEW 8.2.1
    2. LabVIEW 8.5.1
    3. LabVIEW 8.6.1
    4. Boxes to tools or modules of the foregoing
    5. NOR-DAQmx 9.0.2

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows XP mode alert message...

I'm using an Acer laptop, windows 7 barely one year old; just upgaraded for windows 7 Professional; downloaded and installed windows xp mode and virtual pc mode... I have a lot of games for windows xp; followed all instructions step by step on installing xp games, only install one so far, installation says 'successful' but came into xp mode to play the game and an alert box came up saying "could not create the display device. DirectX is not available {1002}' I clicked on Yes during the installation of the game and even went and downloaded from the web site itself, but I get the same megs.

Here are my system specs.   Acer Aspire 7736Z, 64-bit, Pentium (r) dual-core, 2.20 GHz, 3.00 GB...

Can someone help me and tell me what is happening here and how to fix it?   Of course, I'd be happy of it... miss my games... :-) Thanks in advance.

Windows XP mode (Virtual PC) is not designed for players. "Windows XP Mode is best suited for older applications business such as accounting, inventory and similar applications. Windows XP Mode is not intended for consumers because much of consumer applications requires a use extensive physical interfaces, such as 3D graphics, audio and TV tuners, which don't work well under virtualization today. "(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/faq.aspx)

You should play games XP in your environment from Windows 7, if necessary, install and play with these two compatibility settings (right click on Configuration and resp. game.exe > properties): 'For Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode' and 'run as administrator '. Some games need special corrections or methods to make them run, though, as too much has changed since their original release. Other games work without all these questions.

So my antivirus running Windows 7 I protect in XP mode, or what I need to install another program AV in XP Mode?  and do I have to update all the XP updates (these are updates that are different from those I had to do when installing XP Mode and Virtual PC initially)?

[1] will be my antivirus Windows 7 protect me in XP mode, or what I need to install another program AV in XP Mode?

should [2] I update all the XP updates...?
