Windows xp mode

I'm curious to know if windows xp mode can play old video games.  That would be really helpful because I have a couple that is fun, but I don't know if they will work.

Hello

If the game you are trying to read is compatible with XP, then you can install it on XP Mode without any problem. They work without hassle.

Hello eaglesfan723 and welcome to the forums of Palm.

The Tungsten T3 HotSync driver is not 64-bit capable, this is why you can't get the T3 to HotSync.  Please read this thread to learn more about your options with Windows 7.

    Hello

I guess that this is caused by the graphics chip, it is possible that caused graphics card driver problems related to bad entries in the registry or in the worst case the graphics chip could badly run.

  • Windows XP mode / Windows virtual PC

I have to support some programs LV7.1 (and newer versions).  I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit edition.  LV7.1 loads and runs, but the drivers disk pours on the 64-bit operating system.  (This was not unexpected...)

The new PC he has an Intel processor supporting Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode.

I need to upgrade to W7 Pro, but before I do, I want to get some feelings that it will work.  If older NIDaq, MAX, etc. Install OK in XP mode?  If someone has done this?  Is there another solution which is better?

    Hi John,.

NOR-traditional DAQ won't work on Windows 7 64-bit at all, even if you install the (very limited) driver beta OR - traditional DAQ 7.5.   I do not work with LabVIEW license much (data acquisition is my spring) but I understand that you can have different versions on different computers.  If this is the case, you must use OR-DAQmx 9.0.2 with LabVIEWs 8.2.1 and 8.5.1 8.6.1.  NOR-DAQmx 9.0.2 is the first version 'officially' supported on Windows 7, both 32 - and 64-bit.  As long as you use a 32-bit version of LabVIEW (which, if you're not using LabVIEW 2009, it will be inherently 32-bit) you binaries will work fine.

Note: When I say "as long as you use a 32-bit version of LabVIEW' I do not mean a version that does not work on a 64 bit OS.  This section of the knowledge base, LabVIEW 64-bit vs 32-Bit Applications FAQ, explained part of the difference.  The main thing to keep in mind is that because Windows Vista and Windows 7 can emulate 32-bit programs to 64-bit well enough, you can still use a version of LabVIEW which is only 32-bit on a 64-bit computer.

I don't know the number of tests we did install older versions of LabVIEW as 8.2.1 on Windows 7, but I guess it should work fine.  I would recommend this install it:

    1. LabVIEW 8.2.1
    2. LabVIEW 8.5.1
    3. LabVIEW 8.6.1
    4. Boxes to tools or modules of the foregoing
    5. NOR-DAQmx 9.0.2

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows XP mode alert message...

I'm using an Acer laptop, windows 7 barely one year old; just upgaraded for windows 7 Professional; downloaded and installed windows xp mode and virtual pc mode... I have a lot of games for windows xp; followed all instructions step by step on installing xp games, only install one so far, installation says 'successful' but came into xp mode to play the game and an alert box came up saying "could not create the display device. DirectX is not available {1002}' I clicked on Yes during the installation of the game and even went and downloaded from the web site itself, but I get the same megs.

Here are my system specs.   Acer Aspire 7736Z, 64-bit, Pentium (r) dual-core, 2.20 GHz, 3.00 GB...

Can someone help me and tell me what is happening here and how to fix it?   Of course, I'd be happy of it... miss my games... :-) Thanks in advance.

Windows XP mode (Virtual PC) is not designed for players. "Windows XP Mode is best suited for older applications business such as accounting, inventory and similar applications. Windows XP Mode is not intended for consumers because much of consumer applications requires a use extensive physical interfaces, such as 3D graphics, audio and TV tuners, which don't work well under virtualization today. "(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/faq.aspx)

You should play games XP in your environment from Windows 7, if necessary, install and play with these two compatibility settings (right click on Configuration and resp. game.exe > properties): 'For Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode' and 'run as administrator '. Some games need special corrections or methods to make them run, though, as too much has changed since their original release. Other games work without all these questions.

    Yes.

It is just Windows XP running as a virtual machine.  He has access to everything you want to give access to and must be treated as another computer.

So my antivirus running Windows 7 I protect in XP mode, or what I need to install another program AV in XP Mode?  and do I have to update all the XP updates (these are updates that are different from those I had to do when installing XP Mode and Virtual PC initially)?

[1] will be my antivirus Windows 7 protect me in XP mode, or what I need to install another program AV in XP Mode?

should [2] I update all the XP updates...?

  • Problem of Windows 7 mode and Virtual PC XP

A few months ago, I bought a laptop. It was the vista operating system. I was told I could easily upgrade to Windows 7 Professional and activate the XP mode, so that I can run some of my business software that can only run in XP mode. They gave me a free upgrade to Windows 7 Home premium with the purchase of my new laptop computer.

Yesterday, my upgrade from Windows 7 Home premium arrived. I installed and then bought the online upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. After professional installation, I tried to activate Windows XP mode and I discovered that my Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor does not support virtualization technology to run windows XP mode 7.

The place I bought the laptop has agreed to take my laptop and give me a refund. My question is how can I make sure that I don't have to pay for him any time upgrade to the professional version when I get my new computer with the right type of microprocessor?

Being understood that the question and your post has nothing to with Windows Update features (compared to the upgrade of Windows), see Windows XP Mode requirements article here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7

If return you the computer to Vista & then go to Win7 Home Premium, you should be able to use the Win7 Pro Upgrade Anytime to another eligible computer.

  • Problems with USB devices in Windows XP Mode on Windows 7 Pro

I have a Palm Zire 21 that I use with ACT! Contact Manager to keep track of my appointments.  I was able to sync the Palm with my ACT database until this week. The device appears on the list of USB devices, but does not connect to Windows XP mode.

I used this device in XP Mode since August without any problem.  Last week, I started having problems with the integration of XP features and had to uninstall and reinstall the integration features a few times.  I think I have a corrupted somewhere driver.

    Any help would be appreciated.

No need to comment unless you have more insight.

I solved the problem myself.  In XP mode, I went to the Device Manager and scroll down to USB controllers.  A virtualization USB bus drivers showed a problem.   I uninstalled this device and then managed to reinstall my Palm correctly after connecting it to the USB port, and then going back to the menu at the top of the XP USB mode screen and hit connect when I saw my camera.  The device connected in XP automatically and I was off to the races.

  • Screen of Microsoft Update crashes Windows XP mode

I have Windows Virtual PC in Windows 7 Pro, and I test it with Windows XP Mode before I use it for Ubuntu Linux.

In the test, I went through the normal routine with Windows XP Mode, installation of updates; but after the first activation of Windows Update, after which, I installed Microsoft Update, the update screen freezes for 9 to 10 minutes, the message «Check if your computer has the latest version of Windows Update software for use with the site...» " until he goes to the next screen, 'Welcome to Microsoft Update'.  I also noticed that, even though the download process seems normal, the installation process is exceptionally more time that I expect anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes for each of the bigger files.

Is it a file in XP Mode which could trample the day opening screen, or is it one of my programs in Win7 that could be the cause (though I doubt it)?  I miss an ActiveX program or any program, by the way?  Or do I have too many?  Or should I simply rub the file in XP Mode, I installed and install a new one in its place, since I'm in the early stages of Windows Update?

Someone directed me to KB2879017 Cumulative Update for Windows XP.  Once installed, it updates automatic galvanized WinXP.  Once I added KB898461, Internet Explorer 8, KB905474 and KB892130, I was able to get more updates via Windows/Microsoft Update.  The update process wouldn't properly unless I installed these files in the order that I posted here.  I had to load KB2879017 from a USB flash drive.  The rest came through automatic updates.

  • Lsass.exe in Windows safe mode system error.

Lsass.exe in Windows safe mode system error.  I tried to repair and recovery of Windows and he persists?  Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Most of lsass.exe errors, if this is the result of malware, is the result of a corrupted registry, specifically in the security hive.

    Follow the steps described here.

You can also try running chkdsk & an System File Checker analysis if the registry repair does not resolve the issue.
