Impossible to get to the desktop after log in

My husband can log our computer, but once it gets to the screen of tiles, it leaves him choose whatever it is, including the office.  This has never happened before, so it's a new problem.  I don't have this problem and everything works fine under my login.  I tried closing and the search for high and low on the web a solution but found nothing about this problem.  I would like suggestions. Thank you.

  • Stuck on blue HP Invent screen and not loading Windows not items on the desktop after you done a system recovery

Hello, this is my first time posting here, because I'm in desperate mode!  I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s5304y using Windows 7, desktop pc that I bought in February 2010.

After getting a virus on my computer, I ordered system of HP recovery disks, and made to factory settings recovery process (twice!), however, during the Windows install process, it never cross the blue HP Invent screen that says:

-Do not turn off your PC during this unique installation process

-Your PC will restart several times during the installation process

-Messages may appear on your screen. Ignore these messages until you are prompted to restart or shut down your PC

To the bottom of the screen, it keeps saying "Please wait...". "with a green scroll bar. What I see is the buttom to start at the bottom left corner but I am not able to access anything whatsoever and I never get my desktop screen or the desktop icons. I restarted and closed several times, and as soon as I log on windows, I just get the same blue screen.

The 2nd time I did the recovery process, I let him continue overnight (just in case I was not waiting long enough) and my computer never stop as it was supposed to when the installation is complete.  In addition, the whole process, I looked the first time around and my computer never restarted as he said he was supposed to; It seems to just be stuck for the rest of the installation procedure for windows.  There finally comes to switch to "standby" mode.

I have nothing plugged on the other except the power cord, monitor, and keyboard/mouse.  I have not installed new hardware since I bought the computer.

I did a test of diagnosis and everything going on.

I tried to get help from HP Support, but because I am out of the warranty period, they cannot help me and want to charge me $99!

I don't know what else to do at this point. Can someone please?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Assuming that maybe that's a problem with the recovery discs, it is a simple work-around if you have (or can borrow) an installation disc Windows 7 at retail which is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your PC comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to the exact retail version that you would need.

If you do not access to the retail drives, you can create an installation disk yourself - just download good picture disc from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-link...

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the sticker COST on your PC on demand, and when the installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally delivered with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need can be found here.

  • My laptop running on VISTA can see my desktop running on XP Media but I can't get to the desktop.

I think the problem is with the firewall on the desktop computer.  I get Windows cannot start the ICS service.  I have reset the winsock.

Using a router or ICS? Is this a new problem or are you unable to put in place the file/printer between two computers share? If the latter:

Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    (C) in Vista, turn on password protected sharing. Create accounts of users and corresponding passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

Vista - Start ORB > Search > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Hi thanks for the reply. I think I found the problem now someone in a surgested chat channel using a program called Malwarebytes to scan the pc and he picked up a virus registory of embezzlement:

  • Windows 7 takes a long time to load the desktop after login

    Hello

I am using windows 7 on my HP 530 laptop. My friend who installed and activated, but I think that it has installed the cracked version. After installation, it was really perfect. but after a while when I connected to the internet, some updates have been installed, and then when I logged in the windows, he invites me that you are using a pirated version or something like that (I don't know more actually). then I restored to my previous state and then everything was fine. After that I stopped the automatic updates, but these days my startup window is having a few problems. After entering the password, its taking a long time to load the office and its keep on the list "loading, please wait...". »

I'm so sick of that, also, I have to restart my laptop by pressing the power button, and after the reboot, it works fine. But I need someone to answerwhy its taking a long time to load the desktop...?

Also, please give me some advice to solve this problem, keep this idea in mind that my computer is virus free and got a good processor and RAM. I installed my windows in the C drive, and in my C drive only almost 2 GB of space is left (or almost). and there is no program running auto in msconfig, other than gtalk, Skype, etc.

I'll be really grateful if someone please give me the solution.

HP would have provided your preinstalled laptop with win, they would also have provided a way to recover your laptop to the specifications of the factory, either through discs of recovery or a hidden restore partition that you need to access in order to make recovery disks. How do you access a recovery partition is an option of HP, is not dealing with a MS - visit the HP website, specific to your model for more details on how.

If an illegal win7 version has been installed, or you have to buy version of win7 you need, or you need to recover your laptop provided that the factory provided, by doing so, you lose everything on the phone, if you have lost or that you can not do the restore cd and then telephone HP support they would usually provide records for a small fee.

  • Re: Satellite C850D - impossible to get into the BIOS

I'm unable to access the BIOS on this machine. I tried (a number of times) by pressing the FN and F2 and FN and F12 keys while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Unlike the Satellite A500, I have, no prompt for keys F2 or F12 doesn't appear at the bottom of the screen showing the Toshiba logo.

I tried F2 and F12 keys without the FN key, but still no result.

I need to be able to boot from the CD drive, but cannot get the BIOS to add this record to the boot sequence.

    Help pls.

    Rod.

If you use Win8 you must make full stop at first. How to do that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
After the full stop restart your machine and press F12 to get into the boot menu. There, you can choose which device can be used as first boot device.

  • LasetJet Pro M475dn: Impossible to scan over the network after upgrade to El Capitan

After that I upgraded to El Capitan I no longer use HP Scan or HP Easy Scan to scan the network more. I can print to the printer, but analysis always results in the page being pulled by the document feeder, but applications just to lock-up without the document showing. Everything worked fine on Yosemite.

I found a workaround solution that once worked before after a update of Mac OS X (but had to change the name of file, much like the original file has disappeared). Just download the next file on HP (no matter that it is not for your printer; it's not mine either (OfficeJet Pro L7680) but it works).

Disable SIP for this installation and when you run the installation program (do not know if you need to do, but I did anyway). To do this, the instructions are here:

    https://forums.developer.Apple.com/thread/3981

When you run the Setup program, make sure you hold the CTRL key when you right-click on it, then click Open in the menu.

Run the Setup program. Be sure to select the HP scanning software and install it. When you get to the configuration of the printer, just skip this step (unless you are using the printer in question). The parser components are what you really want from the printer drivers are already in El Capitan, if you have a HP supported printer. The scanning software will have already installed to the moment you arrive at this screen.

Install the HP Easy Scan on the App Store app (if you get the latest version of the software your front-end). You should be able to run the scanner and scans without restart. I don't know if it will work for everyone, but certainly, it worked for me and keep me until they find what went wrong in El Capitan to disable scanning and scanning capabilities.

SIP turn on again so that your Mac is better protected. We should all work after that. After doing the above, I found that I was able to not only use the HP software, I was able to use Image Capture, preview, etc, to get images from the scanner. Your mileage may vary, but if all goes well it will work again for you all.

  • New computer, not Windows XP loading beyond the background of the desktop after installing Kaspersky. Help!

I have a brand new computer running on Windows XP home.  I started to fall last night, and it worked very well.  I installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 disc (and then I think that you download the latest version from the Web site).  After installation finished, he asked me to restart the computer I did, and since then Windows does not load correctly.  All I can get is the paper painted, no icons or taskbar.  He is not fixed, however, as the mouse moves, and if I right click I get a very limited number of options, including for office properties and properties of nVidia, however none of these options will load up.

I tried to start the computer in safe mode so that I can uninstall Kaspersky, but I tried many pressing F8 on boot the system and it will not give me anything.

I don't have a Windows disk as the software came on the computer, but I don't have the key.

What can I do?  Help, please.

    Thank you
    Natalie

Given that you can get into Windows, at the level of the Office try Ctrl-Alt-Del to get the Task Manager. Choose 'New task' and in the resulting box type: appwiz.cpl [OK]. This should appear in Add/Remove Programs, you can uninstall Kaspersky. Kaspersky is a good antivirus, but from my experience it does not sit well with some computers. After graduating to remove, use something else. I recommend (trade) of NOD32, Avast or Avira (free versions available).

If the above doesn't work for you, call the Kaspersky technical support.
