  Recently I had to reinstall windows vista home premium 32 bit on my old acer aspire laptop. I did a "clean install", all was well with this operation. Once I click on the little square and accept the conditions, it goes to another window with two choices... install & cancel, when I click the button install... instead of windows update download and install the update, I am presented with the view of windows update, the update has been installed successfully When in fact it was not. I prefer to install sp1 via windows update, because she was supposed to be a size smaller than the stand-alone version available on microsofts website. Has anyone else had the same question, and if so how do you fix? Of course this laptop is not my main computer, but as it still works very well I continue to use it.

  Support for Vista without SPs is complete.

  Use the standalone version for both SPS.

  Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

  It will also tell you which SP you have installed.

  I can't get windows updates keep giving me. I think I'm up to about 55 so far. I can't get the drivers installed by windows - they install form Epson, but then a pop-up at the bottom of the screen says unable to install the drivers and it cannot recognize my printer. I also tried to download Heimdal and is not yet open. I tried to find WindowsUpdate.log to see what is happening and what I can see is not permitted. I even tried to download - System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x 64 based systems (KB947821) [October 2014]

  and who says windows cannot open this file. So I don't have an idea of what has gone wrong with the system and I don't really want to do a clean install as I have so many programs it takes me forever to re - download all programs and find all the codes, etc.

  So is there someone who can solve this problem?
