improve WiFi reception?

Maybe not fair, but I sat with my xoom beside my laptop great hp pavilion dv7.

I am able to capture distant signals from wifi on my laptop and connect - but on the xoom does not even see the ssid.

Now, my evo also don't like weak signals or report all of them as existing.

I imagine that my gigantic dv7 just has a great antenna and I'd be happy about - but curious if maybe the case or a setting might improve my reception on the xoom.

Yes, as you mentioned, I guess it's not fair to compare this laptop with the Xoom. I'm not an expert on the material at all, but I guess it would be easier to put a better antenna on a big laptop compare smaller tablet. It can even have multiple antennas.

I'm not aware of any way to improve reception on the Xoom (of course, do not put it inside a box or do not hold it against your chest ).

Just to make sure that, when you are closer to your WiFi router, the Xoom can see and connect properly, right?

  • Less Wifi reception after replacing the screen

Hi, can someone tell me what might be wrong. After that I fell on my phone, I had replaced (RESTful) screen. Everything works fine, but the Wifi reception is worse then before. Contact RF cable problem? Or a smart Wifi (if aboard all) is able to do this?

    Anything else?

    Thank you!

  • Low wifi reception on CQ10-400 ca Windows 7

I find that I have low WIFI reception on a ca CQ10-400 running Windows 7.  Using InSSIDer 2.1 I receive signals amplitude of 65-70 to a runnng away from WIFI AP 10 ft @ 175mw.  I have a HP Elitebook 2530p just next to get signals from 20-30 dB, the power settings are set to maximum.  I removed the checkmark on the power on the parameters according to the recommendation of compaq.  I tried the old drivers and the new.  RALink 3.0.13.0 and 3.2.1.0.  Does anyone know if this is normal for this model?

I solved it.  Having considered very carefully the maintenance manual, I noticed that black and white antenna drivers have been reversed.  A reversal of the cables solved the problem and he now gets a signal as strongly as any of my laptops.  http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02481106.PDF  Thanks to Compaq manuals.

Hello - I just my BB for Christmas and so far I like it... but I have a little problem with WiFi call is received.

Unfortunately, my house is a black hole and I can't receive the regular reception on my career in the House. I have to connect VIA WiFi, which was fine with other phones - crystal clear and good reception to my router.

Now, with my Curve 8900, I can connect to great WiFi - no problem there... I can use the data and receive emails etc is no problem. My problem is - during a phone conversation on the WiFi, my reception is horrible. I can be standing right next to the router, and the phone cut in and out, is irritated and everything just horrible. Regular calls in my carrier without WiFi are great.

Is that a setting some part I have not found? I don't understand why the WiFi I can properly connect, send and receive data very well... but my calls are horrible.

  • Satellite P755-11 q - bad WiFi reception

    Hello.

    I have a new satellite p755, with W7 64-bit.
I admit for almost a month now, after 4 years of use of a satellite A500 18 Q. my old laptop still works and here begins the problem.

We have a connaction wireless at home. my old computer so the computer of my brother have a full reception at most of the places in the House.

my new computer has half a rece [option at best, a room away from the router, and if I go further, I can't get a connection to all pilots are the latest in existence and I'm at the end of my intelligence.]

Is the network card of lower quality than that of the old A50? What could be the problem and how can I solve it?

the map, as far as I know, is an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless network adapter.

In addition, when the computer returns from hybernation, (using system continue) it works really slow, and it takes nearly 10 minutes to all open the wondows work too much in fact.

I bought no new computer to get a better user experience, as my old computer is "tired" and ready to retire. but so far, it's mainly a source of frustration.

    Help, please.
    Thank you.

    > Is the network of lower quality than that of the old A50 map? What could be the problem and how can I solve it?

Don t think that the quality is poor there are different cards on the market and each chip wireless network support different features

In your case, I would try to change the standard 802.1 B or G

Try to also change the channel
As far as I know that this may be in the Device Manager-> Wlan card-> properties-> tab advantage

Also disable power save for the wireless network adapter

  • Much worse compared with Z3C WiFi reception

I had to spend to Z5C and usually it's good. Only difference I see is that wifi networks, I used until now have much worse signal! Is it because the Z5 reduce the sensitivity of the antenna or because the recent Marshmallow updated?

Dude, I feel, honestly! I own a Z5C and my brother has the regular Z5 and see the difference in performance of WIFI coverage between these two, I feel a little disappointed. However, I think it's a hardware problem rather than a software problem. You see, Z5 uses antenna MIMO 2 x 2 design where Z5C uses 1 x 1 SISO arrangement. Where the Z5 MIMO comes into play in terms of bandwidth, to be able to establish connections to 867 Mbps Z5C can connect up to 433 Mbps. And some sources suggest that 2 x 2 often gives you a better coverage than 1 x 1 (Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert, I'm just saying what I had read earlier) layout of antenna. That said, I do not own a Z3C, nor have someone around that there I can't compare. However, after having updated from an old phone (Galaxy Note 2) with a design still 1 x 1, I expect WIFI coverage to be much better on this phone flagship of 2015 as it was on a 2012 flagship phone. Maybe tweaks software in future releases can help fix it...

  • BlackBerry smartphones no wifi reception

Hi, I just got a Torch 9800 used. When I turn on the wifi, there's no signal one of my local networks. Here at work I should be able to pick up at least 2 networks, but it isn't everything.

I'm not under a data plan on my BB. My old phones (pre & iphone) I just use wifi for my mails and surf plan with no data. Does make a difference with a BB?

    Thank you

Ah! Yes, it's important. What I had first suspected, is that your BB doesn't have the Service books required to enable the WiFi feature... but, with this result, it is not the case. Therefore, what can be assumed is a hardware problem, which no amount of effort can overcome. Only a technician with the BB in their hands can make a proper diagnosis. If you stay under warranty, you're looking for that take charge of your place of origin of the purchase, your mobile service provider or your authorized service center - it varies by region, but you should have received the documentation, purchase, explaining your warranty rights and methods.

    Good luck!

  • Reception improve blackBerry Smartphones

Hi all.  I'm new on this forum, so my apologies if this has already been discussed above.  Recently, I moved into a basement apartment and have problems with reception - too specific, I guess.  Someone knows a way to improve the reception on a Blackberry "BOLD" to get a better reception quality in such a situation?  Thank you

For the purpose of surfing, using a signal from your home router WiFi is an option.  Not all carriers allow component Wi - Fi, this might not work with your vocation.

As for strengthen the signal of your cell phone, it's just a reality that does not move the signals of cell tower well below ground.  There's really nothing you can do about it.

    I hope that helps you.

  • I get my internet through a Repeater.  There is a POE carrier then online, then a router adapter yet.   Can I use an Airport Extreme with POE to improve my WiFi range?

I live in Baja California Surinamese no cable.  You want to improve WiFi.  Not sure how to interact with a POE.  Tried to set up the airport without a bit of luck.  Appreciate some feedback.

If the connection between the POE (Power over Ethernet) device and the AirPort Extreme is a wireless, then you will not be able to extend the network Wi - Fi of the OCB in the extreme. This is possible with an another AirPort base station.

In addition, only a particular model of the base station AirPort Extreme POE supported wired connections. It was discontinued in 2007 and is model # A1034.

  • Pavilion p6610f Desktop: software blocking Wifi transmission

Pavilion p6610f Desktop 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium SP1.  I had problems with the buffering and freezing in my browsing on the internet. I contacted my Internet provider after doing all the clean to the top of my computer that I knew how to do. After an hour or two with the agent to remote access to my computer and them telling me that everything was going well at their end, I asked why the icon Wifi in my taskbar shows only two bars on a possible 5 when my computer is right next to my Wifi modem? I was told it was probably a software interfering with the Wifi transmission.  I ran Microsoft malware and adware programs removal & Ms. Mr. Fixit.  I have MS Security Essentials and have not all problem reports.  My provider Internet telling me the truth?  Is the lack of Wifi reception with software that I can't find? I looked in my programs & features and does not see all unauthorized programs may have snuck in and I deleted some. The only thing that is new is a HP Envy 5660 all-in-one that is set up wireless.  It has been suggested that I have reformat my hard drive and reinstall the essential programs to see if that helps. But, acckkKKK!  I don't want to go through all that again! I did twice before and have installed two others had readers since I've owned this computer and don't want to if not necessary!  I thank in advance for your time and your knowledge if you decide to advise me.

    Hi there @TY965

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are getting a signal strength wireless low, despite the close proximity. I'm happy to help you with this.

In some respects, being too close could be part of the problem. Because of the arrangement of the devices, it could be that the receiver on your desktop does not receive a clear signal, due to the metal in its framework. I suggest moving the router wireless in the location and see if you can get a better signal. This page has also some other useful information which may affect the strength of the signal.

If that does not help or make a difference, then you can try looking at your system itself. Start with the next page, and if there is no improvement, wok your way through the other sections, I have included, until it is resolved.
