Inspiron 1520 black screen at power on

Hello, I have a problem with my laptop Inspiron 1520. When I turn it on the screen just stays black. LEDs are flashing and the fan starts. But then nothing happens. No dell logo. No splash screen. I plugged it to an external monitor, but there is also no signal. I did the test screen by pressing D and turning the power on and I can see the colors on the LCD but it is very dark and when it restarts it is completely black. I don't think it's to start completely to windows because I can't activate num or scroll caps. Nothing happens when I press the buttons. I also started with by pressing fn and after a minute or two, I hear as a result of beeps: * chime chime chime * beep-beep-beep-beep - beep beep pause pause and repeat. I got the graphic card replaced not even 2 years warranty and I think it might be broken again? Please tell me if I could try more and what I should do next. Thanks in advance, Ingo

It seems that the system completes POST but do not start Windows since you are not able to allow caps num or scroll and also while the diagnostics (Fn + power button) you hear the beeps (which suggests the diagnosis was running on the bottom) running.

But on the LCD BIST test (pressing D and power) you see the color screens (but dark) LCD screen should be fine and it could be a problem with the video card. I'm afraid that without the screen, that we will not be able to check further and you may need to check the installation by a local technician.

  • Inspiron M5030 black screen at startup

As the topic says, when I boot my dell Inspiron M5030, I just get a black screen, no beep and yes I have connected externally on a monitor without success. It was working fine a few days ago, I stopped and went to bed, got up the next day and it started. The power led lights up, the HARD drive light turns on and blinks so I know that something is written or read from the HARD disk, but I don't get the POST screen that says DELL or anything... Just a white screen. I would say that is the back light but the screen has a white tint to it and to my knowledge it is the backlight on the screen.

I checked the RAM, HARD drive, etc. Check that it has been placed correctly yet.
I removed the MOBO battery hoping to reset the CMOS to maybe get a kind of screen, but this resulted in the 'time Off system' (5 beeps) beeps but they stopped after a reboot.

What I ended up doing was remove the heatsink from the CPU and video chip and they had as a rubber stamp on that foam.  I removed that and put thermal paste and it works fine.  Sometimes if I use it everyday the screen may start off dead zone but up to now no more beeps at startup.  If you do what I suggested before it won't hurt her, but I recommend to do what I explained in this post, after get you to the top and running.  I would like to know how it works.

    Stand by. Why safe mode?

  • Inspiron 3437 black screen on wake-up after update 8.1

    Hi guys,.

I recently bought this dell inspiron 3437 and windows update to 8.1.

After the update, the screen remains black if the laptop has been in mode 'sleep' for more of, say, a few minutes.

I read that it is a common problem after update to 8.1 windows, but I have not found a solution that works for my laptop.

    Any ideas on that?

Update: yesterday I returned to windows 8, assuming that the 8.1 caused this problem.
However, I get a black screen on wake up again and I have to do a hard reset.

Edit: went back to 8.1 so that I could install this driver from Intel. Why is it not a standard update or in the support section of the driver dell?
    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&DwnldID=23323&keyword=4400+graphics+driver&DownloadType=drivers&lang=eng

Edit 2: AAARGH, who has not yet set... After a few hours of sleep he still would not wake up properly.
So, I choose not to let my laptop to sleep, instead I leave it hibernation.

I have changed this in the poweroptions. Just put everything to hibernate instead of sleep (so when the lid is closed, when you press the powerbutton).
It takes a few seconds extra for the laptop to wake up (but still quite fast, less than 10 seconds), but at least the screen comes alive.

PS. Sorry for all the dubble posts suite thisone. Assume that something went wrong yesterday.

  • Black screen after power is plugged

I have a samsung series 3 laptop AMD A10 running. Model number is NP355V5C-A03CA. The power adapter can charge the battery. Now that the battery is fully charged charged to 100% with the power adapter is plugged in, the screen goes black. There will be no response no matter what buttons I pressed. Then, if I unplug the power adapter, the laptop will be new to the login page of the user (windows 8). Then I plug the power adapter once again, the same problems occur with the black screen.

Can someone help me on it? Appreciated.

    Tony

    Hi Tony,.

Since black screen occurs when you plug in the adapter, the usual culprit might be the power supply. I recommend you contact the Samsung Support for assistance.

  • VM shows black screen after power on

My server is a 2003 SP 2, 1 hard drive with 2 partitions C (40 GB actual) and E (500GBactual). I have recently re proposed that a box in a vSphere 5.5 with a 1 TB of space. I used the converter 5.0.1 on the physical area.

My initial P2V took more than 4 days! I tried the hotfix increases performance of cloning , but there is no change, to make a long story short I started it this weekend. Came Monday and he was done. I turned on the virtual machine and it works correctly, but I got a black screen, no cursor, nothing.

The only thing that came out then Setup the initial P2V was I tried to activate the 'sync' function, but could not, sysprep files were missing. I don't know if it's related or not? I thought down ranking to 5.1 and start again but I figure I have ask first.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Just to update... I converted one of the partitions (program files) and tried to restart the virtual machine. I got the same result. I read somewhere that change the logical SCSI's Bus type at LSI logic could be the problem. I changed the setting and tried again - same result. Then I went back to the logic of Bus and he fed up, and it worked! Don't ask how or why to buy the virtual machine correctly.

Don't know if anyone has had this happen? Thanks again for all the help!

  • Turn the Inspiron 1721-black screen and nothing

My Inspiron 1721 laptop stopped working. I turn it on - the fans start for a few seconds and it goes silent, then screen remains black.

I left it on all night and turned it off and on again this morning and it came until I logged on windows, then went black again. It's like hibernation as the fans aren't on and his well silent when I stripped down the hard drive was still underway when I listened.

Can someone tell me whats wrong?

I tried the take the battery / power of maintaining 60 seconds put the wire back with battery etc thing tried external monitor, tried different ram etc, but nothing.

    Any suggestions?

I had to replace the motherboard on my own. Looks like your's mine has done the same thing, I suggest to replace yourself if possible, or if you are unable to find someone who can, it is very easy to replace. Also you need a new dvd player, it looks like yours is not good. But that has never fixes your pc should be able to confirm if it is good or bad.

    I hope this helps

You can find the motherboard online for about $150 and 20 for a DVD Rom drive

    Good luck

  • Dell Inspiron M5030 black screen when installing Windows 8.1 on 'Get Ready devices.

    Dell Inspiron M5030

I had Windows 7 installed and works perfectly, but I wanted to install Windows 8.1, I tried a new install first (also tried to upgrade to windows 7). Everything installs fine but when it restarts for the first time the windows logo appears and 'Getting devices % ready' then the screen goes black.

    Ive tried:
-For let sits for awhile to see if it comes back, and I get nothing after hours
-J' plugged a monitor without response (also tried to close the cover put to sleep and go to bed)
-J' quit and tried to start in Safe Mode, but it says that Windows cannot boot mode safe because windows setup has not finished

I can start on my windows repair and go to the recovery prompt but don't know what to do. It looks like a video driver issue, the laptop has an AMD Radeon HD 4200. If thers any why to install the driver before implementation ready devices? Help, please!

I had the same problem and did this and it worked without problems... The idea is to integrate the drivers updated in the ISO/DVD. The drivers supplied with the W8.1 DVD do not work as well as I was getting the BSOD with the installation.

    1. download Winreducer and install all the 3rd party software that it requires.  Look in the howto.pdf

    2. download the latest AMD Catalyst drivers from AMD website (not beta).  Drivers Windows 8, I think that the list.

    3. extract the files to temp dir.

4 copy files and drivers since the temp (packages\drivers\display\w86a_inf) directory and the sub (B149756) to the dir dir drivers winreducer (work\integrate\drivers\x64).  In the x 64 dir, you should have cats, msi, INF and the b149756 files.

    5. run winreducer.  Make sure you have practice an iso to DVD Windows 8.1.

    6. Once you mount your iso, you will spend for options and features screen.  You can see the presets, appearance, features... on top.   Let alone all the options EXCEPT the location of the drivers under System.  Change this to x\WORK\INTEGRATE\DRIVERS\x64.  Don't forget to change the x to your location.

    7. click on finish.  Save as an iso. Apply.  It will save the iso changed in the winreducer folder.

    8 burn and install.

    9. After you are done installing, install the driver package that you downloaded in step 2 by running setup.exe in the main dir.

    10 thank me LOL

It worked for me on an Inspiron M5030.  I hope that my answer is detailed enough.

  • HP G62 - 340US Black screen on power on, no corresponding led error code

    Hey all,.

Having a problem with my laptop HP G62-340US. The computer will continue to feed on, but the screen does not light, but the caps lock light has a constant slow continuous flashing. The indicator light next to the charging port is orange, as the light next to the wireless button. (There is no NumLock on the keyboard of a light)

I looked at the link to HP support for this issue, located here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01443366

But was unable to find my specific situation. Any help or idea would be greatly appricieated.

    Thank you!

Try to start the machine without the battery and connected to the power adapter. Try to boot the machine with a single chip memory installed (if you have two). Try changing the location of the chip memory if you don't have one. Do a hard reset by removing the battery, power adapter, pressing the power button for 1 minute, reconnect the battery and power adapter, and then try again. If this does not work, you will have a video chip problem that would require a reflow (I know this isn't your model, but it shows you what may be involved):

Good shops use pistols temperature controlled at worst and stations Infra red reflow for more accurate results.  The video was just to give you an idea what may be wrong.

  • Black screen and no action on Satellite A315-S2615 HDD

    Hello

First of all, let me thank all of you who give input. It's my last hope.

Background: I had an A315-S2615 (I think, it's at home and I'm typing this at work so I'm not 100% sure of the model #) for 11 months, when the problem started. I hit the power button, the light by the power button, the laptop could start, but freeze at the "Toshiba" screen I push and hold the power button to turn off, then try again. This time, the light turns on but the screen remains black. I noticed that the hard drive light is not ongoing enforcement or the other.

I went on the website of Toshiba and found a local service provider since I was in year 1. They put in a new motherboard and it worked great... which is 1 month. Now I am outside the 1 year wrnty and I'm screwed. Service provider said that they do not guarantee their work when it was made in a Toshiba warranty. Toshiba says I should have sent to them to fix the first time and perhaps that they could do something, but since I went to their authorized service provider, they will do nothing (BULL! Then why they have authorized service providers!).

Again, I hit the power button, by the power button lights up, but no hard drive light flashes and not screen. I've built computers, so I have a small idea of what it takes to solve problems, but laptops are again for me. Here's what I tried...

    1. with and without battery. When it is plugged in, the led for the plug lights. When the battery is in, the light to the plug and the battery charger, so it seems to be powered and normal quality.
2 disc? Bought an external hard drive enclosure and hooked it to another computer. He reads very well.
3 memory? I had two modules of memory in it. I tried with one, then the other, then both. Nothing. I don't think that the two would go bad at the same time.
4 tried to connect an external monitor. Nothing. (Still once, hard drive is not spinning, so I don't think that's it).
5 disassemble the laptop looking for bad connections. Didn't notice anything like that, but it's a general analysis since I'm not too familiar with laptops.

So I'm down to the motherboard and chip, right? I'm guessing that chip as the motherboard is only 1 month. Thoughts?

I have search the forums countless of a response to "black screen", "no power", "white screen", etc. A lot of questions, not all solutions. I hope that someone knows the solution to this problem.

Once again, any help is greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I have on a laptop that only lasted that 11 months (I wasn't expecting this from a Toshiba).

    Thank you very much!!!

    Andy

I just noticed that there is a Europe forum. Not sure how I ended up here. Either way, I hope someone can help.

    Thank you

    Hello

    If your computer laptop doesn t turn on... I knew a solution that works sometimes;
-Remove the battery from the laptop and unplug the AC adapter
-wait for several minutes (~ 30 min)
-Connect the AC adapter power to the top of the laptop

If this will not help and your laptop will not power you must certainly aid from ASP.

Your notebook series belongs to the models of Toshiba laptops us and I think that the ASP in the United States should be helpful.
