Inspiron 3647 not activate Win 8.0

Bought 5 of them about 14 months ago. We wouldn't turn on. Dell sent a MB and still wouldn't turn on. Could not reimage PC at the time and now I'm out of warranty. Showkeyplus watch this Windows 7 OEM marker in the firmware. This has happened to Dell with Win8 reinstalled. Should I use at this point to get this to activate without purchasing a new license?

You can probably use your downgrade rights from Windows Pro 8.1 to Windows 7 Pro using the Dell Windows 7 Professional with reinstallation "SP2" DVD/USB for more details in SP2 integrated installation in existing media, see here:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/converting-your-Dell-Windows-reinstallation-DVD-into-a-reinstallation-USB/

Then you can move to Windows 10 Pro, which will record your hardware profile of systems with a Microsoft Product Activation server making your system a "device Windows Pro 10":

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/upgrading-to-Windows-10/

You can then clean install Windows Pro 10 without a product key... a '10 Windows Pro device"automatically when reactivate online.

Alternatively, you can take the 10 10130 unofficial Windows upgrade path that will also make your system a "device Windows Pro 10":

OT: Cannot activate win 8 on my laptop due to the change of hard disk.

    Hi all

I have a Samsung np550p5c-s05in and it came installed with 64-bit Windows 8, later, the hard drive developed a few problems and as I had guaranteed him, they were replaced by a new, but this one came with a victory 8 32-bit that is not enabled. Now, I got the product key of victory last 8 I had so I tried using them to activate, but an error came that said something like

"The key provided is not for this edition of windows,

Use the installer of windows 8 or enter an activation key 8 windows. »

So it was logical that the key I had was for a 64-bit win 8, so I installed win 8 64 bits of an image file and then I repeated the same procedure to enter the key and the same error came once again.

I would ask so you people to please help me with this, because I have no idea whatsoever what to do next.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Can not activate Win 8 - reports of problems with the product key

    Hi all

I have just downloaded 8 Win and tried to upgrade my existing Win 7 Home Premium VM, which I run on VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 on my Intel MacBook Pro 2009. I wasn't able to do the upgrade in place - the installer told me that it was not possible to run Win 8 on this machine. Instead, I created a. ISO file and used to install Win 8 in a new virtual machine. Everything works fine, but I can't activate Win 8. The error message tells me that "something is wrong with the product key" even if I could install Win 8 with the same fine product key.

I called various hotlines MS today but don't have anything got no solid advice. Am I the only one who experience this issue? Is there something I need to pay attention during installation of the virtual machine to win 8? Is it possible to install a fresh VM with a key product upgrade in the first place? I would appreciate any information you might have on this subject.

Thank you in advance and Bravo,

    Georg

    Hello

The key of product at the bottom of the device would not work!
The pre-installed Windows 8 would be activated automatically during the startup and configuration of the system for the first time!

You format the whole HARD drive? Did you remove the 8 Windows from the HARD drive?
Have you created a disk recovery or flash memory stick recovery in the past?

    ISN'T IT?
In this case, there is only one option to get to factory settings.
You will need to order the Toshiba Recovery disk:

  • WANT H8-1569: cannot activate WIN 10

I had my HP ENVY again in the box for 2013 and decided to start to replace another PC who was dying.  He started by WINNING 8 (not 8.1) and was soon to do all the necessary updates to the current. I have not upgraded to 8.1 to WIN.

Before the break free WIN 10 update, I installed the upgrade and everything was fine until I saw the message that WINNING 10 needed to be activated. I had no WIN 8 product key, but used Majical Jellybean Keyfinder to get the key, but WIN 10 still would not turn on.  According to Win Support that I need to get a key for WIN 8 activate WIN 10, but the key in the bios was crushed by a 10 key WIN by default overwritten during the upgrade.

So is it possible around this so I can activate WIN 10 or is there a way I can get a WIN 8 key to solve this problem?

My other alternative is to buy 10 WIN and do a reinstall, but I would avoid it.

    Thank you.

    Peter6083

First of all, by itselfr, Windows is UNABLE to write to the UEFI firmware where the product key is installed; Therefore, there is no way that a Windows Setup would replace this key.  You must use the programming code of the special firmware (like the one provided with the updates to the BIOS) to change the firmware.

Second, MagicalJellyBean is not reliable to find OEM product keys, as it tends to report what he sees in the registry, and that is not always correct.

To find the integrated in the UEFI firmware OEM product key we this utility: Showkey - Windows 10 Forums

  • Best graphics card for Inspiron 3647?

I don't know how to find it on the Dell website, but I want to put the best video card as I can in the desktop computer Inspiron 3647. I would rather have 1 to 2 GB RAM, video card, but I don't know that is even supported or if I can pass the power supply.

fans are going to be part of life with a compact system like that... There is not a lot of space open so fans must come out warm air to keep things from overheating...

64 bit certainly account for games... If you find a card that works and which has a memory of 128-bit interface you will be a happy player.  interfaces memory 64-bit will choke the 3D games

Here's a 730 NVIDIA which is a simple map width of low profile that comes with low profile brackets:

You can also wait to see if the Speedstep or Osprey users reply to your message... they are wise in this area.

It has been my experience that it is better to have a card of 128 bits with 1 GB of RAM than a 64-bit card with 2 GB of RAM.

  • Dell Inspiron 3647 with monitor Samsung

The Samsung S27D390H monitor does not seem to get along with my new Dell Inspiron 3647 system, bought at the same time for the system.

Sometimes, the screen is black and will not respond when I turn it on.  Dell said that not all monitors are compatible with their systems, if they would not comment specifically on this monitor.  Together, they said is why not to buy a Dell monitor.

It could be a 10 Windows sleep problem or a problem of monitor or computer hardware.  Dell tells me about the monitor because it is not a Dell monitor. Microsoft won't talk about the problems of sleep with Windows 10 because I bought the system from Dell with Windows 10 on it so Microsoft says that I must deal with Dell. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Dell, struggling to understand the accent of the person I was talking about. It was exhausting and frustrating but no help. I'd stick rather pins in my eyes!

So we plugged the monitor into a power strip and turn off the power strip. So far that has worked, but the problem is intermittent, then it will be some time before we are confident.

Reference verified Dell Bios version.  All standby/hibernation settings have been checked and turned off by Dell.  Not sure about sleep of the BIOS.  Don't know what your last question.

Been another incident.  Off the monitor with monitor power switch.  Half an hour later turn on monitor power switch.  Black screen.  Waving the mouse.  Typical exhaust.  Hit Ctrl Alt Delete.  Nothing.  Turn off the power strip and he turned his back.  Picture came back on the monitor.  And it showed on the screen Ctrl Alt Del orange asking what I wanted to do.

But really, I'm fine with the solution of power strip.  It's simple and it works.

    Thank you all

  • You can use a win 7 Home premium... to activate win 7 starter?

I bought two copies of Win 7 Home Premium.  I have replaced the hd in my acer netbook and want to install win 7 starter instead of xp.  You can use a win 7 Home premium... to activate win 7 starter?

No, you can't. Windows 7 Starter Edition requires a product key of Windows 7 Starter.

Since you have two licenses for Windows 7 Home Premium, why not use one of them?

  • Windows 7 will not activate with the OEM key, after the failure of HARD drive.

    Hello

I was recently asked to repair my brother DELL laptop.  The HARD drive failed and the system unusable.  I replaced the HARD drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 (earlier version of windows) from my own installation media.  The recovery partition had survived the failure of HARD drive, I would have just cloned that and used, but this was not an option in this case.

The problem that I am experiencing, is that windows don't will not activate, saying that the key is not valid.  I was told that installing Windows 7 media would work with a retail or an OEM key, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The key OEM I use, is from the computer it came from originally, and the only material change is the new HARD disk.

I try to avoid ordering an OEM Dell installation CD, as which costs money (I already have my own installation CD) and takes time (why do they have them available for download?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

you use an OEM SLP key that only works with the manufacturers recovery media.

change the product key to that on computers of COA
Click Start, type slui3, press ENTER.

    Additional information:

Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:

OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)

COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)
