• "Stop error" suspected to cause driver corrupted for user installed DVD burner.

  I get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death) everytime I go out with my Philips DVD burner. Under XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400. Installed this writer a couple of years ago and have used it without any problems, however started getting this error about 6 months ago. MS produced a report when I rebooted after the last incident - "you received this message because a device installed on your Windows computer driver stop unexpectedly." This type of error is referred to as a "stop error" that requires you to restart your computer. "I followed all the steps described in this report to address the cause of the erroor. However, one of the steps refers to "Uninstalling the driver", but it is a step of manned by menu windows which seems to me that it's not really uninstall the driver - it's just a procedure they wrote such fact, it (start - control panel - display categories - Perf. & Maint - system - hardware - device Mgr - disabling/uninstalling). After you follow these steps, you get a message from re - install the device by clicking on a box. In my view, the same driver is used. It is corrupt nothing has changed and I will continue to get this error. I would like to know where the real driver is located so I can delete it and then go online to download a new driver. However, because my o/s came pre-installed by Dell, MS isn't going to help (unless I pay for the help) and Dell won't help because they didn't install the unit and the Philips site is useless in trying to get technical information as to where their driver is on my hard drive. I checked Event Viewer - System Log and found 'Source = system error category' and the real codes of 4 parameters (addresses memory I think) [that MS would only be able to interpret] for this date and time. I might have to go the route of 'pay' people with MS, but before doing that I would try to fix it myself. Dell site will not download the driver that already exists on my HD and is the latest version. Tools Dell system does not include this unit in its analysis of material either. So - I hope that someone will be quite kind to give me any suggestions where to find this particular driver - I can't find anything that looks like a pilot in the Philips records.   Test your drive using the Dell diagnostics. I describe the procedure in my guide for troubleshooting linked below. Make sure you put a DVD disc into the drive during the reading test.

  I have a HP Pavilion Media Center a1310n desktop PC.  It has a DVD burner compatible LightScribe.  LightScribe identifies a disc very carefully. I took it for granted that LightScribe, a HP inovation, would normally be on the HP desktop computer.  It seems that it was a mistake.  I want to confirm the presence or absence of LightScribe in 220 Omni.  For now, I burned my recovery on the 220 LightScribe disks and created the label on the a1310n.  It is a strange situation.  Thank you.

  ImgBurn should indicate if the drive is capable of Lightscribe. Maybe you weren't looking in the right screen.

  It is a first post of time following the purchase of a NB200 using OS WinXP installed standard. With the NB200, I also bought a LG GP08LU10 "External Super Multi DVD Rewriter".   According to the Microsoft page, 22 error means that the device is either disabled or not started. Eventually he hasn t started in your case.

  1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
  2. which version of the Windows operating system is installed on your computer?
  3. what version of Windows media center do you currently use?
  4. are you able to use the DVD writer normally with other applications?

  Try the following and see if it helps.

  Method 1:

  Make sure that the CD/DVD burner is properly connected to the computer.
  a. If you are using an external CD/DVD recorder, connect the CD/DVD burner to the computer.
  b. plug in the cabin of the power supply and check if the power light is on.
  c. install the burning software. Insert the CD, a program will pop up and you guide through the installation process. Usually it let you name your drive, tell you when connect you your external CD/DVD burner to your computer via USB, and update the software for your external CD/DVD burner.
  d. check if you are able to burn CD/DVDs.

  Method 2:

  Delete the temporary folder burn Cache and check if it helps.

  Follow the steps below:
  (a) click Start, select computer.
  (b) now go to sub lease:

  File Burn \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary C:\Users\ (Username)

  My old dvd burner installed in these slick ide cables.  This new dvd burner has e-sata cables and said to connect on a direct x 9 sound card.  There is a card plugged into the motherboard but I don't think it's a sound card and there is no cable on this topic e-sata port.  I think my computer has an internal sound card?  I can see if a cluster of four e-sata ports of different color on the lower right corner of the motherboard.  One of the ports, the black has an e-sata cable that comes from a rectangular box at the front of the computer (hard drive?).  The other three ports are empty and different colors. Connect the cable e-sata burner dvd into one of these ports?  And if so, is it important what color?

  Given that the troubleshooter could not see the CD DVD drive, you can try to navigate to the following location in the registry editor and deleted the upper filter and lower filter keys and check if it helps you get the job of CD DVD player.

  1. click on Startand then click all programs.

  2. in the start menu search box type regeditand press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

  3. in the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  4. in the right pane, look for UpperFilters and UpperFilter key and select it.
  Note You can also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters . If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry.

  5. on the Edit menu, click delete.

  6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

  7. exit the registry editor.

  8 restart the computer.

  Note: Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to delete the corrupted registry entries.
