Install upgrade between CS3 and CS4

Hey everybody,

I want to upgrade my current installation of Indesign CS3 to CS4 (not the entire creative suite). All I got is a new serial number. Can someone tell me what is the best way to do the upgrade? It just that I need to change a license file or run the CS3 installation routine still more enter the new number series or should I still CS3 uninstall first? Apart from this, is it possible that I can keep my version of Indesign CS3 running outside my new version of Indesign CS4?

Thanks for your help!

You can upgrade independent InDesign CS3 to InDesign CS4 standalone without removing the old product.

It is the best way.

Run the installation of new, and there you go, your old installation remains intact. Now you can edit the two generations of InDesign files.

You can't pass a single product to a suite.

  • Difference between CS3 and CS4 when you place images, unguarded percentage

There is something of a difference between CS3 and CS4 when you place images. The images I'm dealing with right now were vector images, but it could apply to all sorts of images.

When you replace an existing image, the behavior of CS4 is to leave the image full frame. In CS3, the percentage was set at 100% as default (% see you when selecting the image, not the container).

Also when you replace an impage in CS4, the 'internal' picture frame is maintained, while in the C3, the percentage was limited.

Y at - it sort of investment preferences / settings leave CS4 same wat like CS3 did, when you place an image?

    -Andreas

If reliinking keeps the scale or dimensions is now a part of preference in CS4, if that helps.

You can play with this setting and do a few manual rebinding to see if something is appropriate. I'm not a script, but I think you can reset this preference as part of a script.

  • How to charge the PS CS3 and CS4, after the disk (C) computer crash?

Had a computer disk (C) in Win10 crash; desktop computer and need to reload programs! How can I recharge

My PS CS3 and CS4, reloaded actually programs them but need to activate without the need of upgrades. HOW TO MAKE!

If CS3 is an upgrade, it would need a serial number to a version prior to installation qualification and the serial number for CS3 would be eligible for the upgrade to CS4.

If you have your registered Adobe products, you can go online and get them.

  • Different fonts between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work very well. Fonts are all installed in the directory system on my Win7 box.  This used to be a WinXP Pro box.

I can load a file in Fireworks CS3 without a single question and text everything seems perfect. As it should.  Close the CS3 open CS5 and load the same file and CS5 tells me I must update my fonts.  Why?  Same system, the same fonts in the same font directory. Only thing that's changed, it's that I open the file (s) in CS5.

The fonts look the same in CS5.  I'll have to redo all the Fireworks CS3 files so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?

Loads a series of strings delimited by tab characters from a text file, and then executes a series

    //
The data file is delimited by tabs, returns to cart that separates records.

    Where:
    < tab > is a tab character
findType is 'text', 'grep' or 'glyph' (this sets the find/replace operation type to use).
findProperties is a recording of properties (text) search preferences.
changeProperties is a recording of properties (text) of the change preferences.
findChangeOptions is a recording of properties (text) of the options find/replace.

    //
    More complex example:

I'm not a writer, but I'll take a stab and try to make a difference here.

The main problem, in my opinion, is that you use a plain text instead of GREP search. Text gross has no provision to replace the text found by itself, for example, rather than using the codes you entered a literal string. Your search text of ' ^ p(^?) ' means find any character in brackets that occurs after a paragraph break. I would use in GREP ^ \s+ (\(.+?\)) which translates to find an opening parenthesis at the beginning of a paragraph (so he'll find if it happens to be the first character in th in a story) followed by a number any characters up to the first parenthesis (in the case where you have double the figures or double entries letter) followed by ANY white space (in the case where it is not an ordinary space or multiple spaces). Replace $1\t which means the text found in the first set of parentheses in query search followed by a tab.

Parentheses are special in GREP, they surround groups of terms you want to re-use the text found, so looking for the actual characters you need to 'escape' with the-prefix, so \(.+\) will find a paren open followed by all the characters up to the end last paren in the paragraph. Addition of the? After the + makes research stop at the first closing paren met, although there are several sets in the paragraph.

  • files between cs3 and cs5 compatibility

    Hello

What are the issues of the compatilibity between Photoshop CS3 and CS5?  Can they be used together without much (if any) questions?

    Thank you.

They can happily coexist on the same system, as long as you have the disk space.  Photoshop has always been like that.

You will be able to run one at a time, at a given moment, however.

About the compatibility of files, I did not how many it is necessary to open a file in Photoshop CS3, but the new version offers a preference setting "Maximize compatibility" to save the .psd files.  On occasion, I opened the .psd file in Photoshop CS3 saved by CS5 (using the parameter above) and I didn't know all the problems at all.

    Glenn,

Personally, I would invest nothing in this computer that cannot be used in a new computer as well. He is 4 years old and the time is fast approaching you want at least a processor i7-920 + system, in particular with CS5 and imminent MPE. You have 3 G of memory, you can switch to 4, but gains would not as big and the overall investment is to a value of zero when you go to DDR3. I'd like to save for a new i7 system.

  • New PC Vista Ultimate ID CS3 and CS4-"enter" does not work

I have a new laptop running Vista Ultimate.  I installed my CS3 Design Premium full version and in InDesign, have had problems with both past on the keyboard extended to give me a page break. I copy and paste a paragraph break or select from the insertion of special characters instead of type entry (not to mention the line break and a column which are also easily accessible break).  I actually never use page breaks, so it's extremely annoying.  Yesterday, I downloaded the 30 day demo of InDesign CS4 to see if it works better (willing to be upgraded if it fixes the problem). However, it also has the same issue - the two keys "enter" give a page break.  Obviously this is a bug that is overflowing with ID, but I don't have the problem in another application. Of course, I would like some advice as to how to track down where this issue develops and if there is a way I can fix it.

  • There is a mistake in my program to flash on upgrading from CS3 to CS4

First of all, I'm using AS3.

I can't divulge too, but I have a flash multiscene program, quite complex which works well in CS3. During the upgrade to Flash CS4 - I can open the file and edit everything that elsewhere, but when he test (ctrl + enter) I get an error in the windows exit (1009) and an essay on white, as if it won't start.

    Why?

I can only give few details if necessary. Thank you.

There are changes in CS4 that could in some cases allow you to get away with things that you couldn't in CS3, especially to do with going a frame and try to do something to an object that exists now on this image. Error 1009 is what happens if you try to use something that does not yet exist. I guess it's possible that because CS4 is preferable to the use of objects in the new framework, it may have triggered a problem that CS3 would not have triggered.

Anyway, first thing you could try is updating the recent 10.0.2. Which fixed a large number of questions and can improve things for you:

  • CS3 and CS4 FLA in Flash 8 Pro files?

Anyone know what it takes for me to open the .fla of CS3/CS4 files - in my Flash 8 Pro?

He says 'incorrect file type' or something like that...

The guys sending me CS3/CS4 is a PC user, and I am a Mac user... don't know if it matters...

    Thank you

    John

Cannot open file CS3/4 in Flash 8.  You or the person who sent you the files should save the files down to the versions of Flash 8 before you can open them in Flash 8.  CS3 can save files down to Flash directly as each version of Flash may save the previous version.  But CS4 files must be saved as files CS3 first, and then CS3 could be used to save in Flash 8.  If all the new features of CS3/4 are used in the files, these characteristics will be lost in the conversion.
