Installation of an EVGA in a Compaq Presario SR5710F 5600GT

Hello, users of the forum!

A few moments ago, I bought a Compaq Presario SR5710. I noticed the horrible integrated graphics card (nforce 430 motherboard w / GeForce 6150SE) supplied with the machine, so I'm interested to the EVGA 5600GT graphics card as a replacement. However, I don't know if this replacement will be compatible with the motherboard and its power. A lot, I would like to know if I'll be able to use this graphics card with my current SR5710F. Thanks in advance!

GB, here is a link to a power supply which is highly recommended on this forum:

Another good brand is OCZ.  I used the PSU for more than two years.  They fully support their products.

  • Upgrade a Compaq Presario SR5710F desktop computer

Hello, I'm recovering because as far as I can get out my Compaq Presario SR5710F desktop... right now there windows vista service pack 2 32-bit. The processor is an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4450e to 2.3 GHz with 3 GB of ram at 800 MHz. First of all, since the processor is 64-bit, I was wondering if a windows 7 64 upgrade is recommended... Secondly, I know that even though I have a 64-bit processor, the maximum capacity of ram I have is 4 GB due to the motherboard, but with this card mother, is possible to increase the speed of greater than 800 MHz ram (for the motherboard specifications are hard to find). I was also thinking to replace the graphics card, but what I am seeing that will probably require a different diet and I am on a limited budget. Any suggestion? Please take into consideration the fact that this upgrade is not for games etc, its a home computer that I'm trying to be as updated as possible for a minimal cost. I am realistic, however, and I know it's an old PC. More I am not worried about existing programs (32-bit), I certainly intend on a new installation

    RickCraw,

Here are the specifications of your Compaq Presario SR5710F desktop computer and its card mother MCP61PM-HM (Iris8). According to the specification, this model has PCIe x 16 graphics card slot and a 250 watt power supply.

    (1) most retail graphics cards require a 300 watts or more big power supply system to work properly. Install a new graphics card to detail will require the replacement of power supply as well.

    (2) Yes, you can install Windows 7 64 bit on this computer. I recommend the upgrade of RAM at a minimum of 4 GB for use with a Windows 64-bit operating system.

    (3) NO, you cannot change the speed of the RAM. Your system is limited to the following specifications/configurations of memory;

    Dual channel memory architecture

    Two connectors DIMM DDR2 240-pin

    Supported DIMM types:

    PC2-4200 (533 MHz)

    PC2-5300 (667 MHz)

    PC2-6400 (800 MHz)

    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered

Supports DIMM DDR2 2 GB modules

    Supports up to 4 GB (2 x 2 GB = 4 GB)

  • Compaq Presario SR5710F upgrade the video upon hearing the motherboard cannot handle high power supp

What is the best graphics card upgrade which can my Compaq Presario SR5710F can support? I'm ready to upgrade the power also, but hear that the motherboard do not put anything above 350 watts regardless of power.

You can install any PCIe x 16 video card you want. The limiting factor is going to be the power supply. More power the longer video card POWER supply. About what you hear about the motherboard, I found nothing to that effect. To qoute request-leo,' I heard a matter of concern that a power high power can somehow 'forcing' the power on the computer, resulting in overheating and burnout. Nothing could be further from the truth. A power supply provides power in response to the need; It does not matter where power grow. If your computer only needs 100 watts, then a 500 Watt power supply will only provide 100 watts. Why have a 500 Watt power supply? For the use of 'pic' (sometimes material will require 'sudden' power, as at the beginning upward or under heavy load) and for future expansion. »

It is better to have too much power too littleand to get the right size. By that I mean the physical size - come in many standard sizes out there, and they are not interchangeable.

    Hello

First of all, make sure you back up all your personal files, etc. to some form of external media such as DVD or an external hard drive.

    To replace your hard drive:

The hard drive on the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your PC.

    http://www.Amazon.com/Western-Digital-3-5-inch-internal-desktop/DP/B0047QSUB4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&QID=1321049043&SR=8-8

Procedure (including a video) to replace the hard disk can be seen on the following link.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01643143

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below - use IE as other browsers do not always work.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    Kind regards

    Stop 0 x 124 is a hardware error
If you are overclocking try to reset your settings to standard processor and see if that helps.
If you keep getting the BSOD here are things more than you may want.

This is usually hardware related, defective heat, memory or processor even if it is "possible" he is associated (rare) driver.

Stop 0 x 124 - what it means and what to try

    Synopsis:

A "stop 0 x 124" is fundamentally different from many other types of bluescreens because it arises from a complaint of material.
Stop 0 x 124 minidumps contain very little concrete information, and it is therefore necessary to address the problem as a case of material in an unknown state of distress.

    Generic troubleshooting ' Stop 0 x 124 ":

    1) to ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Material which is pushed beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - may malfunction in unpredictable ways.

    (2) ensure that the machine is sufficiently cooled.
If there is doubt, open the side of the case (be aware of all the relevant conditions guaranteed!) PC and direct an electric fan squarely to the motherboard. Who will rule on most cooling problems (lack of).

    3) update all drivers related to materials: video, sound, RAID (if applicable), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is best to run the latest drivers anyway.

    (4) update the BIOS of your motherboard according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Their website should provide detailed instructions on the brand and model-specific procedure.

    (5) rarely, bugs in the operating system may cause "false positives" 0 x 124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining, but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 does not have to suffer from a defect, but it is nevertheless important to keep Windows up-to-date.

    6) trying (stress) test these hardware components that can be put to the test artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD (s).
For the RAM, use diagnostics from built-in memory (run MDSCHED) or the utility memtest86 3rd - party to run plenty of evidence of hours of testing.
For hard drives, verify if CHKDSK /R finds any problems on (s), including "bad sectors".
Unreliable RAM, in particular, is mortal, as well as software, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result the diagnostic utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is free of any defect - only that none have been encountered during the test passes.

    7) as the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "Vanilla" Windows reinstallation: just the OS itself without additional applications, games, utilities, updates, new drivers - or ANYTHING that does not come from the Windows 7 disc.
Who stops working mitigate the problem of the 0 x 124, jump to the next step.

If you run the "Vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0 x 124 accident occurred, start installing applications and updates slowly, always stopping between successive additions long enough to get an idea of the question if the machine is still free of 0 x 124 breaks down.
Smash back, obviously the latest addition of software may be somehow connected to the root cause.
If the stop error 0 x 124 persist despite the above steps, and the equipment is under warranty, consider to go back and ask for a replacement that does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that want to perform the subsequent hardware troubleshooting steps can, in some cases, void your warranty:

    (8) clean and carefully remove the dust inside the machine.
Reinstall all memory modules and connectors.
Use a can of compressed air to clean the RAM DIMM supports as much as possible.

    (9) If all else fails, start removing items of hardware one by one in the hope that the culprit is something non-essential that can be eliminated.
Obviously, this type of testing is much easier if you have access to equivalent components in order to perform swaps.

If you are in the situation to have completed all the steps above without a resolution of the symptom, unfortunately the most likely reason is that the error message is literally correct - something is fundamentally wrong with the hardware of the machine.

I found the answer myself. This applies to the Windows XP operating system to not initiate systems with blinking cursor error.

as with any startup in the bios section.

1 Startup Repair windows running with installation or repair disk and guest disk open command
    2 run the fixboot command
    3. run the fixmbr command
    4. run chkdsk /r /p command
    5. disconnect all IDE connections, then restart. This will update your bios.
    6. make sure that the HARD drive is plugged into the motherboard of the PRIMARY IDE connection.  to find out what he just plug in each IDE plug and restart it until it starts.
7 replugin other ide connections you disconnected earlier.
    8. check the HARD drive and set jumpers as "cable select".

and BAM enjoy the operating system start now.

Thanks the guy who gave me the generic answer without doing a
background on the system of the computer in question.
