Installation of iTunes, Synology NAS,

I can get a good guide on how to use my 716 + NAS synology, to store all my music files, and when I open itunes on my iMac, MacBook air, or windows laptop or even when I use AppleTV, I can access this music (if it is not stored locally on my computer)?

Also, I tried this in the past, but with itunes on my iMac to restart, it would never ride my share, so he always missed the location default library itunes (locally) and mess substance upward.

I see also synology has an Itunes Server package, that would be a solution?

Thank you

First, be aware that there are no rare posts here on NAS problems with iTunes.  NAS is great conceptually, but in execution of problems that can occur with iTunes and have done so for more than a decade.  Everyone makes fingers to everyone, but the main thing is that you always run a risk of a library mutilated.  Better is to use a simple external drive and use the NAS for backup.

I think the server package is pretending to be a shared library iTunes without having an active version of iTunes open at the time.  Have you read the manual or online for the NAS documentation? I don't have one and what I know is people post questions here.

The reason why you had problems before is your SIN is going to sleep and not wake up before launching iTunes.  The same thing would happen even if you use a simple external hard drive.  If it doesn't happen at startup, you can try to put an alias to the iTunes on the server application, then an alias to this alias in your computer and start iTunes this way, not directly from the computer.

  • Sync my iPhone on Itunes with NAS library

    Hello

I used to sync to my iphone via itunes with iTunes library that I have stored on my NAS.

I have a new computer and want to do it again.

I had iTunes able to access my library iTunes stored on the NAS, I can play the music on my computer but when I want to sync my iphone, the obly on which I am authorized to do so by Itunes is the local library, not the one on the NAS.

How can I make the NAS library one to use for syncing my Iphone?

The phone searches for the exact same library file used the last time that synchronize you the phone with iTunes.

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes. When you are prompted to select a library to select the file iTunes Library.itl the SIN. If it is not there then you have not kept the entire library on the NAS and the left critical parts of your library back on the old computer.  The only recourse is to get these files to this computer or a backup.  It is usually best to use a portable library but with a SIN, you can run into all kinds of trouble with any iTunes library. In this case, I suspect I know what the problem is, but there are several NAS posts here where we have no idea why a library all of a sudden I have messed up. iTunes and NAS do not play well together.

  • IPhoto, Synology, NAS

    Hello

I have a mac book pro, which runs from storage, mainly due to volume of the iPhoto library. I also have a synology NAS.

What are my alternatives to move my iPhoto library to the NAS without losing the access from my other devices (i.e. with the help of my iPhone or iPad that are also related to the same iPhoto library).

In other words, I would create my own iCloud, using my SIN.

    Kind regards

I actually use the Photo, if it makes a change!

Just out of curiosity, what level of overhead that you consider the size of the individual files would cause during a backup? In addition, we don't know what is his rate of connection or flow of how the card can support. He never specified this information, judging by its speed, and assuming that he is close to his router, it doesn't look like it is connected to a flow of link 300mbps.

  • Error7 message about the signature unidentified, the upgrade and installation of iTunes 10.5 for Windows Vista.

Original title: error upgrading and installation of iTunes 10.5 for Windows 6.

I tried all kinds of ways to solve this problem, but I can't seem to find a solution. This all started when I tried to update my iTunes to version 10.5. Then came the error message 7 on unidentified signature etc. I could not even run my iTunes more then. I started download iTunes again to repair and it just doesn't work. I don't have problems with the installation of my iTunes for the first time a year ago and upgraded whenever I allow it.

All other methods I tried to correct the error includes:
    • Uninstall iTunes completely and everything that it supports the programs and files (Quicktime, supporter of Mobile, Hello, Safari etc.)
    • Download Quicktime separately after you have uninstalled it as suggested by other users in some forum.
    • Update the frame Microsot.NET as suggested by the Apple Support site.
    • Manually started the installation of such Windows program suggested by one of the answers on this site:

      a. click the Start button, and then type services.msc in the start search box and press ENTER.
      b. Locate the Windows Installer service.
      c. check that the status is started. If the condition column is empty,
      d. right-click on Windows Installer, and then select start.
      e. If you get error trying to force start the Windows Installer service, then try to change the Startup Type to automatic.
      f. restart the computer.

I have tried for at least 10 times and I have not yet set and am frustrated. Would be really grateful a solution to this soon.

NOTE: I had iTunes on my menu START but it deleted by accident.  It's not in my recycle bin while I was trying to install the latest version

    Hi LisaSims,

According to your statement "I had iTunes on my menu START but it deleted by accident." "It's not in my recycle bin while I was trying to install the latest version. If you just delete the shortcut on the start screen that does not remove the actual program from your computer. Check "Programs and features" If iTunes is still installed. To do this, see the following steps:

    (a) press "win key + W" simultaneously to bring up the search interface.

    (b) type 'Programs and features' and press enter on the keyboard.

    (c) under "Programs and features" list check whether "iTunes" in the list. If so, then iTunes is still installed on your computer.

Navigate to the following location and check to see if the iTunes folder is listed:

If Windows is the 32-bit version check: "C:\Program Files\iTunes\".

If Windows is 64 bit version check in: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \iTunes\.

If the problem is specific to iTunes and you have already tried uninstall and reinstall as suggested by 'Andre Da Costa' then contact support for assistance to install iTunes.

  • WSX on Synology NAS?

My goal is to access my virtual machines from a tablet or a smartphone. With WSX on my Windows host computer, I managed to control them pretty well (instead of using a client such as VNC or Teamviewer remote control).

However, it would be easier to run WSX directly on the Synology NAS server on which most of my virtual machines is stored on a Samba share in all cases, and that works 24/7 in any case. With what CPU would that work? A certification as a 'VMware ready' (as for DS412 + and DS712 +) is essential for WSX work?

WSX is not a part of the 'VMware Ready' certification program. Your SIN is probably recognized as storage and WSX will not work. (Although we do not have
tried internally.) Even if you managed to get working on Synology WSX, you would still need an instance of Workstation or ESX elsewhere. WSX alone cannot host or run the virtual machine. In your case, you always have your Windows host machine upwards where Workstation is installed.
