  I am a DBA Apps and try to figure out how to do an installation of OBIEE and the OBIApps for 11.1.1.7(Informatica et DAC spécifiquement) on environment domestic. Can someone please help me understand this process. Oracle documentation is so confused right now.  I need to know how to install OBIEE first and then go back and install Apps or is it everything out of it, the documentation seems to separate everything, instead of putting them together. I'm very confused someone can you please point me in the right direction. I do this so that I can learn OBI, informatica and DAC.

  We strive to deploy in env Xnix.
  
  OC4J is the default value, which comes in 10g and we want to use the existing weblogic application server that the management considers a scalable solution.

  I am plaining to install OBIEE on 4 servers for IBM blades.
  WebLogic (with clustering) is already installed.
  I am confused I will install OBIEE on all 4 servers and then perform the configuration in files, as written in the oracle documentation or will I use Weblogic Manager and install only on the node main and oracle installer will take care of the other nodes.

  More importantly do not install anything with the root user. First create a new user account. Use this account. Root user is NOT supported and will not properly work for all products weblogic, soa/bpm soa middleware, obiee etc.

  If you are installing for the first time and if you are not very familiar with Weblogic Server, domains etc, I prefer going to install Simple approach. For this you must first have the Oracle database and run utility RCU to create schemas. Run the installer, and then select the simple installation option. It takes care of everything.   3. Another option is to install software just OBIEE on Weblogic Server. Then, you had to manually create a bi help Wizard Config domain. These two options needs a good understanding of deployments, objectives, Weblogic Server domain, servers, etc..

  The link in the previous post has all the details. I want to give you an overview of all the stuff.

  If you want to stop/start server bi at any time, see this post which is for the Windows operating system. But you can get similar folder structure on Linux OS and the equivalent commands. I installed under Windows. I haven't done on Linux, but guess that the steps should be in same to stop/start Linux.

  We are on OBIEE 11.1.1.7 and as I said above the EM and Weblogic console URL doesn't work it all the time. When I get one of these two URLS in the browser and click on enter, I see the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

  The BI server and presentation servers operate because analytical URL works and once I connect to it, I can use all the features on the front.

  Please suggest some workaround solutions.

  Enterprise Manager and WLS Console run on the AdminServer, while that analytical is hosted by the managed server. Thus, it seems that your AdminServer may be down.

  We have planned the implementation of several node, where a server under Linux OS has foundation, OSH and weblogic domain.  Server B on window has HFM.  We know now that we can have single domain web-logic since HFM has no binary for Linux (and we must at least HFM web - app to install if we want common weblogic domain).  In this case, what is the common practice.  Should we local domain web-logic on the server HFM window?  Is there a better way?

  My understanding is that you need one,

  #Separate Weblogic domain for the components installed on the Linux box (Foundation)

  #Separate Weblogic domain for the HFM components installed on the Windows machine

  Such as Weblogic in Linux can't talk to the components installed on the Windows machine.

  As far as I know, you only use this file during installation only. Then the values of ports configured in the file will be used by the Setup program to configure port appropriate for each component values. These port values would be stored in the files of each component configuration, so ultimately, you won't need to staticport.ini after a successful installation.

  II want to install 11.1.1.7.0 on RedHat Linux 64 OBIEE and I get the following error:

  Fild not found /oracle_common/bin/EmctlCommon.pm.template < middlewaredir >

  Any ideas on what is wrong, or if I can't ignore this error?

  I suppose it does not unzip correctly.  Re-uploaded all zips of the installation.  unzipped and I tried again and it worked.

  Standard production deployment is OBIEE + WLS on servers of one (or several), with the database repository and the database of data from reports on separate computers. For a sandbox environment they can all sit on the same. SampleApp is an excellent place to start with OBIEE.

So now if I have to extend for 1 server more managed in the same cluster (horizontal scale), and since this is a software only install mode, do I need to reinstall WLS 10.3.6 on this nouveau/deuxieme server, copy the binaries to OBIEE and configure can evolve?   You should not install client tools because they will be automatically installed w install the server. The 11g installation guide says "do not install client tools on the same computers that host your server instances Oracle Business Intelligence, client tools are already installed on these computers (as part of the installation of Oracle Business Intelligence)."

  I would like to install OBIEE 11 G on AIX platform, after going through the installation guide, it seems that for AIX, simple installation is not recommended / supported, so I have no other choice than to use a single installation software, which requires Weblogic Server pre-installed. I want know what is the minimum version of Weblogic server, which is a sine qua non for this installation, as we have already some version licenses of Weblogic server 10.3.x.x, which we would like to use.

  Before resetting the password check the BI server is running or not. If BI server does not start the server and try again with uname / Pwd - administrator/administrator once.

  First of all I suggest to perform a disk cleanup and check whether the problem is resolved.
   
  The disk cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk to improve your computer's performance. The tool identifies files that you can safely remove, and then allows you to choose if you want to remove some or all of the files identified.
  
  To use disk cleanup in Windows 7 follow these steps below.
   
  a. Click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, click System Tools and then click on disk cleanup. If several readers are available, you may be asked to specify which drive you want to clean.
  b. when disk cleanup has calculated how much space you can free of charge, in the dialog cleaning disc, scroll through the content of the files to delete list.

  c. clear the check boxes for files that you do not want to delete, and then click OK.

  For more options, such as cleaning of system restore and files copy of Shadow, under Description, click on clean up the system files, and then click the other Options tab.

  I also suggest you to run chkdsk.
  Follow these steps:
   
  a. click on start
  b. Type "cmd" in the start search box
  c. right-click on cmd.exe list programs and then select the run as Administrator option. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue
  d. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk/r X:
   Note: in this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.
  a. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
  b. close all applications and restart the computer.
   
  Note: upon reboot, Windows checks the drive for errors, and then Windows starts
  
  After the computer restarts, repeat steps 1 through 4 for the other volume and then check if the disk cleanup works.
   
  If the steps provided above does not resolve the problem then I suggest to install the game using the cleanboot and check for the issue.
  Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items
  the origin of the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and re-
  install the program.
