Installation of Service Pack 1 does not not on Visa? Guard's fault. So frustrated.

Well, then I begin to learn more and more programs want upgrade you all the way to service pack 2. WELL, I HAVE EVEN 1 YET. Because it won't work on my computer! I've tried everything. I get the error Code: 800736B 3. I have Windows Visa family premium, it came WITH my computer and I had a few years back so I do not remember if a CD came even with it. I have no idea what to do and I am so incredibly frustrated. Please HELP :(

Well, you're really between the proverbial rock and hard place here, my friend.

Norton 360 v5.x (AKA Norton 360 2012) will not install unless & until the Vista SP2 is installed - and you can't even get installed SP1 (because the free trial period of Norton had expired because you have never run the removal tools when appropriate or because of your misguided use of registry cleaners).

All that being said, your best bet now is to format the hard drive and then do a clean install of Vista. [Note: a repair installation will not fix this!]

See the poster in this thread and follow the instructions of (my) WHOLE (to-the-letter and in order! ) to restore your computer to a State safe & functional: http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/c44429fb-3f7c-4646-8529-5a97bb3cd0eb

If you need assistance with the clean install, please start your own, new topic in this forum & advice: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-system

If the procedure is outside your technique "comfort zone" - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take a local, the good reputation of the computer and independent computer (that is, not "BigBoxStoreUSA" or Geek Squad) repair shop & let them do the work.

Note: The computer must NOT be connected to the internet or local area network (i.e. other computers) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

Wish I had better news for you.  Good luck!

  • Windows XP 2002 service pack 2 does not have internet explorer 7 or 8.

Recently, I took out my old laptop. Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 2. I was using internet just fine, then when I went to a Web page (don't remember now).

He said that my computer needed update to IE 7 to the support page. I tried to load this (update) over and over again with
no luck. Then I lost internet all together. He said it was impossible to load it and said to go to www.//go.microsoft/fwlink/?LinkID=106440. This address has not yet been loaded.
I did extensive research on the question/answer of windows page.
What can I do to make it work again? I still have a lot of memory etc left on the computer.
The biggest problem is that I have NO internet now on this old PC, to do something about it. I use my laptop more recent to ask
    This question.

  • Service Pack 3 does not completely load on Windows XP despite trying Mr. Fixit and clean boot.

Windows Update says that our computer requires Service Pack 3.  However, after about 70-80 MB or more very slow laborious effort he stops and tells me that download has failed.  The same thing happens when you try to load the update Garmin map that need Net Framework 4 - it's just too hard for her.  I tried mutual aid run Mr Fixit solutions [who proudly says he fixed three different things and installed Powershell for me] and also do a clean boot manually.  They have produced no benefit at all.  Any advice would be welcome.

    Hello

The error message "not a Win32 application invalid" is displayed on the Windows computers and can indicate a variety of problems. Win32 is part of the core of the Windows operating systems and programs installed on your computer must communicate with the kernel in order to work properly.

  • Vista Service Pack 1 is NOT installed

So, I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. Unfortunately my installer for 7 told me that I had to first install Service Pack 1. Large. I know I don't have because it does not appear on my list of Windows Edition. I try to get it from Windows Update, but when I search for updates, it shoots only other stuff (e.g. Office Genuine Advantage Notification KB949810), but the service pack does. I checked my update history and apparently this Service Pack 1 could not install and I received the error code 80080008.

So I download the thing directly from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=139503, and when it finished downloading it disappears. Then I saved it on my desktop and when I click on it nothing happens. Can someone help me?

Slurgly wrote: This would have to do with a question I had on several occasions with the installation of .NET framework 1.1 Service pack and the .NET framework through update 3.5 service pack?

Yes, it's a possibility. These updates of .NET Framework are among a myriad of SP1 updates, like, for example, KB955430 & KB947821.

But I'm more concerned about one or two other things:

    1. the error 80080008 is very rarely seen and suggests that an infection in progress hijackware is at the origin of the problem.

2 Vista SP1 is available through Windows Update (for most users) since March 18, 2008 (SP2 since March 2009). It is very unusual that SP1 has not yet install on your computer again.

How long Avast4 has been installed? What antivirus application was installed before you installed Avast and your subscription always news when you have uninstalled it in preparation for the installation of Avast?

A Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

The foregoing, your best bet at this point may be to back up your personal data, format the HARD drive and do a clean install of Vista to get it then patched up to SP1 before you perform the upgrade to Win7.

I doubted much that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) would solve the problem. Speaking of which, have you ever done a repair for some reason installation any?

PS: Free support for installation of SP1 problems has been available since March 18, 2008 through June 30, 2009. This support would cost you $59 USD per incident (or more) now.

This is a known bug 'Dumb MS' and very simple to fix. It is simply that the installer wants to put a bit of a music (the standard windows sound) file in a particular place, and the directory does not exist on some copies of OEM Windows XP home.

You just need to create the folder he wants before rerunning the SP3 update. Not at the moment, I can't find a link to the exact thing, but if these directories do not exist, create them. You must be logged on as administrator user to do this.

The file beethoven.wma wants to be in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Music".
    OR maybe "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\Sample sounds\" on XP-Home Edition

However, the "All Users" directory down may be missing or not have NO defined permissions.
To fix it, right-click on "All Users" and click the option 'security '.

    Click on the security"" tab.

    Click on "Add..." »

    Click on 'Advanced... '. »

    Click on "search".
