  • Installation of VMware ESXI 6 in my server

    Hi all

I have a server that I have configured with raid 1 using the disk on the Server utility.

When I try to install VMWare ESXI on the server, in the part of the selection of the disk to install the ESXY appears only the physical disks and not the virtual drives configured in table mode. What should I do?

    Concerning

    Milton Aguiar

You are probably using some (aka 'false') 'software' edge RAID controller. These controllers require additional driver software to work. However, VMware supports only the real hardware RAID controllers, which are transparently logical volumes to the OS. Unless your hardware provider offering dedicated to ESXi drivers (HP as much I know as fact for some of theit controllers of Type B) you may not use the RAID on board.

  • problems with the installation of vmware esxi 4.0 on pc

    Hello

    I have a pc I am building.

the motherboard is ASUS P8P67 Deluxe.

It includes 2 onboard network adapters:

    1 realtek network card.

    1 network adapter intel.

When I try to install vmware os it shows me an error that:

"no network compatible adapter found.please don't see hardware compatibility of the product (HCG) guide for a list of the taken addapters supported...".

    Help, please.

    Ben.

The easiest way is to get a compatible network card. The "Intel Pro/1000 GT' for example is known as work and is affordable (about $ 30).

  • Driver RAID for Vmware ESXi 5.1 on Dell R420.

My project is to install Vmware ESXi 5.1 on a Dell R420 with Raid1 configuration. The question I have after configuring raid1 in raid utility is created using the, I launch the installation of Vmware ESXi 5.1. What is ESXi 5.1 sees not the raid1 partition but rather see two disks as are they worn can't in raid1 configurations.

I need to have this in raid1 config, can any who share an idea about my problem please or point me in the right direction.

I did some research but nothing seems to help resolve this issue.

    Thank you

    Sheriff.

    Sorry for my previous response:

DELL-Daniel My - when I boot in the BIOS of the controller, I see the raid in a raid1 configuration.

Mgr dev you are right, I did research more when you all answered. I see the PERC S110 pilot was a software raid controller and thus the vmware esxi wouldn't work in a raid configuration 1 (software raid).

  • Problem with the start of VMware ESXi 5.0

I just installed VMware ESXi 5.0 on a new Cisco UCS B200 series blade with two 300 GB hard drives configured in a RAID 1 mirror.  I went through and completed the installation of VMware ESXi 5.0 on this server.  When the installation is complete and the server restarted, he did not initiate the ESXi where I can change the IP address and VLAN.  Instead, I get this text string after the initial boot sequence that is shown in the attachment.  I have a guest who said Shell > do not know why I can not start correctly in ESXi 5.0.  Thank you!  Paul

    Hi Paul,.

Looks like you boot to the EFI shell. What is the startup policy that you have configured on this server service profile? It should look like the one below.  If there is a problem with the boot order, you should be able to type "EXIT", then enter on the EFI shell to exit the prompt. If your startup is similar to the one below and you still experience this issue, try to downgrade and re - ack the blade.

Let me know if it helps.

  • ISO customized for HP of VMware ESXi 4.0

    Hello

I am building an infrastructure and I have a HP Proliant dl320g5p. What are the differences between an image of the iso standard and the iso costumized for HP? I can't find the differences.

For more, when I'm building RAID1 installation of VMware ESXi see 2 discs... How can it be resolved?

Another problem I have, is that sometimes the service Management Console stops

    Thank you.

    Hello

See this post where you can learn some information about it.

And as the OP commented you must correctly configure the raid1 disk controller's BIOS. Then the esxi should see a volume of disk raid1 logic.

BTW, what disk controller you are using?

Sometimes, if the drive controller is not really supported, just the physical disks are available for esxi, but not the volume raid1.

I recommend you check the ESX(I) Compatibility Guide to ensure that your disk controller is supported.

    Hope this helps

    Best wishes / Saludos.

  • Installation of VMware ESX/ESXI 4.1 on HP Proliant DL360 G4

    Hello

I think to buy an old HP Proliant DL360 G4 machine with 2 Xeon 3.6 GHz processors and 4 GB of RAM.  I intend to install VMware ESX or ESXI 4.1 on it.

I read some reviews of VMware and other products of the hypervisor and all say that these 64-bit Xeons have no VT support option and therefore cannot run 64-bit Windows guest OS.

Since I just use it as test environment learn more about Windows Server 2008.  I would like to know if I can install ESX 4.1 on the HP DL360 G4 and if so, can I install client Server 2008 32-bit Windows OS on top?

Another machine, that I'm looking is the Dell Poweredge 2850, which has the same processor and roughly the same features as the DL360 G4.  So I want to know what a Xeon with no VT - x 64-bit is limitation of technology with regard to the installation of the virtual machines based on Windows on it.

    Thanks for any help.

The Xeon 3.6 have VT - X, so you will not be able to run 64-bit OS comments, as you found it- http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=28019.  You would be OK for customers 32 bits, but you would be prevented from running Windows 2008 R2, because it is 64-bit only.   At this point, I wouldn't bother with a test server that cannot run 64-bit guests.  If you want to stick with a server-class machine I keep watch or watch a white box - vm - Help.com - see the list of the white box.

  • Can I install the vmware tools on a HP Proliant 380 G5 with VMware ESXi 3.5 Installable U3 with HP management components?

    Hello, I have install ESXi 3.5 U3 on a Hp Proliant 380.

I have created a virtual machine to Windows 2003, and when I want to install VMWARE TOOLS from Vmware Infrastructure Client, it does not install on the virtual machine vmware tools. Nor has received all messages from a Client Infrastructure and neither of the virtual machine.

    Why could this happen?

    Thanks in advance

    NO.

The installation of vmware tools lies in an iso file, which is located on your host ESX itself and is mounted on the virtual machine when you click "install vmware tools".

Weather or not your host has a cdrom drive is not serious, you can always add a virtual cdrom drive to your guests and use iso files, or the cdrom drive on the PC that you are using the VI client from.

If you vm doesn't have a virtual cdrom drive, it can't mount the vmware tools iso, and you cannot install the vmware tools.

  • The Vcops error (VMware-vcops - 5.8.0.0 - 1448123 - vapp.ova) on VMware ESXi (VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 5.5.0 - 1331820.x86_64.iso)

    Hi all

I am a novice in this area and to learn.

I installed VMware ESXi 5.5 in one of my machine and it works through VMware player. Am also able to connect to VMware ESXi 5.5 via Vsphere Client 5.5 on my machine. Through my research on the internet I found that vCenter Server is required only when we have the large number of ESXi to manage (correct me if I'm wrong). In my case, I have only one. Therefore, I have not installed vCenter Server.

Now, I want to deploy vCops with VMware ESXi 5.5 5.8. But while deploying OVF template(VMware-vcops-5.8.0.0-1448123-vapp.ova), I get the following error.

    Err1.JPG

My understanding above is correct or am I missing something obvious?

    Hi RizQad,

According to the guidelines of the screenshot, you connect directly to the host ESXi 192.168.0.49 and the error is reported through the OVF vCOPs. It's expected, because the ESXi host do not understand the purpose of vAPP, as explained in my initial comment.

You need to connect to your IP vCVA i.e. 192.168.0.51 using the vSphere client and then import the OVF vCOPs.

Let me know if you still experience this issue.

  • VMware ESXi freezes during installation

I have problems to install VMware ESXi on a HP dl380 g3. Accessing the server using its iLO interface. I boot from the cd and choose Setup ESXi. Then, it load the following modules (vmkboot.gz, vmkernel.gz, sys.vgz, cim.vgz, ienviron.tgz, image.tgz, install.tgz). After that, he said "Booting MBI = 0x000100d8, entry = 0 x 00100212" and freezes. By freezes, I mean that my keyboard is blocked so I can't even disable caps lock on or off. I let it sit for 10 min and she still fails. I tested the cd trying to install it on a virtual machine, and it seemed to work fine. So, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the disc.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

    Thank you

    DL380 G3: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11473_div/11473_div.HTML

The processors listed don't look like 64-bit processors. I couldn't find a solution for this kind of material. My workaround, however, is to simply continue using ESXi 3.5 on these and ESXi 4 on more recent/64-bit servers.

  • Best practices in VMWare ESXi 3.5 installation and deployment of VMDK u3?

    Hi all

I'm about to implement virtualization on my business technology

I've got these resources to be used by VMWare ESXi 3.5

    Dell PowerEDGE 2950 III

    • 32 GB DDR - II 667 MHz

    • internal 4 x 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM HDD (RAID 5) - I know that it's slow to host the VMDK

    • Internal USB slot on the motherboard (but not USB flashdisk?)

    Dell PowerVault MD3000

    • 10 x 300 GB SAS 15 k RPM

    • 2 x Dual port Gigabit Ethernet NIC (x 4 in total)

    • iSCSI - 2 x Gigabit Ethernet for the switch (mute not to VLAN)

I wonder where I should install the VMWare ESXi? for the VMDK, I believe that the deployment in the SAN is the right place.

and any suggestion for the use of the SATA HARD drive internal?

any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    You mean Deployment.jpg diagram?

In this case, there is an error.

    You need a network 2, not 4.

Each controller and each NIC (on ESX) must have an IP in a net and another IP in the second NET.

ESX guests 4 targets, 2 in a net, 2 in the other.

  • R710/R720 - Dell customized Image of VMware ESXi 5.5 Update 2 - megaraid_sas version specific?

That I improve a R710 and two v5.5 (Dell image) to v5.5 U2 ESXi ESXi R720 using the image of Dell here:

    www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

The documentation "Upgrade Guide to ESXi 5.5 using Dell customized Image" here:

    www.Dell.com/.../manuals

indicates that a specific version of the megaraid_sas driver must be installed.

Is the version megaraid_sas that installs with the image of Dell U2 v5.5 not the right version?

I just ran the upgrade on a R710 and it's the megaraid_sas version installed:

    ~ # vmkload_mod s megaraid_sas | grep Version
    Version: Version 06.803.73.00, build: 1331820, Interface: 9.2 inspired: August 22, 2014

    Thank you.

    Hello

It lists the R720 and R710 systems supported and both link to the same page, so the customized version is the same for both servers. Is the version listed in the reference guide for A02

    megaraid_sas - 06.803.73.00

    Page 5 ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_virt_solutions/vmware-esxi-5_Reference%20Guide6_en-us.pdf

This is the same version that he shows for your installation on the R710 so that seems correct.

I installed VMware ESXi on my Cisco's UCS server but after that I don't get from CIMC. also, I am unable to ping the address IP of CIMC. Any help?

I think that MMIC does nothing with your ESXi installation... it is OoB management for servers of the UCS.

Check your config MMIC inside the BIOS again.
