Installation of your primary hard drive question Precision M6500

I bought a Precision M6500 that didn't have a hard drive or a caddy in it. It doesn't have a secondary hard drive. I bought a shopping cart, but do not see how the hard drive connects to the motherboard. Another part is necessary? Here are some photos of the space in my laptop where the main hard drive is supposed to go.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on that.

Too bad - it was user error. The sata connection is hidden beneath the motherboard. I see now and simply drag the hard disk and in the connection.

  • How to add a 2nd HD as the primary hard drive with an OS, STILL make my current HD, as a 2nd hard drive.

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 (Core 2 Quad with 4 GB of Ram - Win Vista Home) with an internal 500 GB SATA HD and want to replace it with a WD 1 TB SATA internal hard drive and add an operating system (Win-7 - 32-bit).  I hope that this isn't really a problem, and yet, I would like to use my current 500 SATA GB internal HD, I replaced, as a (the) 2 internal SATA Hard Drive.  Years, 2 two different internal hard drives have been set as master and slave.  Any ideas on how to make the transition to the larger 1 to SATA HD, install an OS on it and then install my previous 500 GB SATA HD as a 2nd HD internal?  Thank you very much for any help!

You can leave the 500 GB drive, as it is if you want.  The system configuration has a menu item, the boot order, which determines which device gets tried first when you start the system.  Most Dells made before 2012 make this easy for you, because if you do not have a RAID actually running on the machine, the disk hard boot option is limited to SATA 0.  That is why your boot hard drive must be attached to this port.  The operating system on your 500 GB drive not even considering, although it is possible to set up the boot on SATA disk 0 files so that you can start the operating system on the second disc.  Systems of multiple starts work like that, and if you want this option, the installer of Windows 7 would even set up for you.

I have Windows XP on the SATA 0 drive in my XPS 410.  I bought a second drive, started the Windows 7 dvd and run the Setup program to install Windows 7 on the second disc.  When my computer starts up, a message appears giving me the option to boot or the other OS.  Make no mistake, however, if the SATA drive 0 fails, you cannot start the second player by itself.  Initial startup files are always on SATA 0.

  • HP laptop - 15-g227wm: Hard Drive question, in need of a solution

First of all, I don't know if the version of Windows running was of 32-bit or 64-bit.

The laptop in question is my mother and randomly, he started to become unresponsive in the middle of the night.  She had not dropped it and only uses the laptop to surf the internet and play some Facebook games.

I went to the start menu and asked the laptop to run diagnostic systems.  In two minutes, he told me that the disk check hard short DST was not, by giving the code 9SNJ3G-7MP84W-XD7WL1 - T 60, 703.

As it is a hard drive problem, I hope that, at the very least, it will take replace the hard drive, if not buy another laptop.

The problem is the following; the laptop was purchased at a Wal-Mart.  It was the display model they had, as it was the last one in stock, and Wal-Mart could not locate the box for the laptop at the time of purchase.  We have no user manual and no CD to reinstall Windows (the laptop had 8.1 the purchase, and we took advantage of the free for 10 update when it was available).

Please let us know our best options.  Thank you for your time.

    Hello:

While I can't tell you precisely what that code means, yes the the bottom line is the hard drive has suffered an accident and needs to be replaced.

Initially, the PC came with 64-bit W8.1.  HP does not support this model for 32-bit operating systems.

Here is the service manual for this model.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04886216

Removing and replacing the drive hard in this model is a daunting task, but if you are up to it, see Chapter 6 for R & R procedures.

If the laptop is still under warranty, you can get HP to replace the drive under warranty.

If this isn't the case, you're on your own.

You can order W8.1 recovery media for the laptop computer from the link below, or clean reinstall 10 64-bit windows on the new drive from the link below it (media creation tool).  You can clean install W10 for free, without a product key, given that the laptop was already legally upgraded to W10.

  • where are my drivers? new installation on the new hard drive

I have a dimension e510, I put in a new hard drive. I got the windows xp disk, I added when I bought the computer. In general, the hard drive is partitioned or something with the operating system on the hard disk of windows xp.

In any case after I installed widows xp, everything works except that I have the yellow question mark by 'other devices', I noticed that when I tried this computer with my main computer of the network. All of the devices under the heading other have no driver video Ethernet, PCi, for example - video works as I have a video card.

So I tried to install the drivers and windows is unable to find them. I still have the installation disc into the computer. Being one of the drivers for the Ethernet - i cannot access the internet to get drivers. Help

OK, I found the drivers on the dell site. I was able to install or update several drivers that I didn't need. the pilot opne I need comes in a cab file inpenuxp.cab.  Where do I put this? I've tried several things that work. When I low laoded the other driver of dell updtates, they all seemed different and they are all installed without problem

    Hello

You will need to download "Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection " of Dell on a USB key and install the driver for your Netbook have access to the internet.

A CAB file is a ZIP , CAB file is just the Microsoft format for a compressed folder save bandwidth on their server they save as aCAB , you can open and then select all and extract here where the files need. For the most part, these files will file dell cascading, images and Html pages.

Try to download the network card in your computer to get the correct driver installed for your problem.

  • HP Envy x 360-m6-w102dx: primary HARD drive Bay * failed the Diag Test

    Hello

When I turned on my laptop this morning, he showed a black screen with text showing "an imminent failure" and run diagnostics. I ran diagnosis on everything, and when he came on the hard drive, it showed a failed test of "Primary hard disk 1 HDD Bay." I tried to contact HP support and all led here. I am very inexperienced with computer problems and would like to find a solution to this. If it helps, the failure ID is 0GC3HW - 7P881T - GXGJMF - 60DT03. That failure came from a SMART hard disk check and I don't know if this seems to indicate a failure of the hard drive and I don't know what else to do. My laptop cannot start and there is no lead back me to the screen black with the same texts when I turn turn it back on.

    Mfortuno, welcome to the forum.

The SMART test does not, therefore, you have a failing HARD drive.  The only solution is to get it replaced.  If you're not compfortable with opening the case of your laptop, you should take it to a computer repair shop called.  While I'm not a big fan of the Geek Squad, they sell HP computers and know them well enough.  You should buy a HARD drive that is the same size or larger and the recovery media can work.  In my view, that it is a video that allows you to install the SSD or HARD disk.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive Question

Hello, I hope someone here can answer a question for me. I have a 4 year old HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC and the hard drive died on me. I have been trading for the replacement of the hard disk and found a 1 TB disk toshiba sata hard I like, the original drive was a 500 GB. I'm a graphic designer in order to available disk space is important in a replacement player. The page of product for my laptop specification does not say if the original hard drive was a sata drive. Did anyone here know if a 1 TB sata drive will work in my laptop? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Your hard drive is SATA. Service and maintenance Guide lists the largest available in 500 GB hard drive. This isn't a definitive answer that your laptop can not use a 1 TB retail hard drive. However, if you use recovery disks Vista to install Windows on it, the more great concern will use a hard drive Advanced Format (AF). Most recent hard drives are AF and Vista will probably not be able to install.

  • Help to new primary hard drive sounds: HP Pavilion 6620f PC

I'm a non-technical guy who just replaced the main OEM 1 TB drive with a VelociRaptor 300 GB 10000 RPM hard drive. The installation went well, thanks to the fantastic instructions of the manual of HP and it works fine. Hard Disk Sentinel (free version) tells me that his condition is "perfect."

    Here's my question:

    • the new drive is intermittent but constant and subtle sounds and I don't remember hear them before.
    • Is there a problem or is it only a function of another type of hard drive?

For any help or suggestion accepted with gratitude! I hope that I worry about anything, but do not have the technical expertise or experience to know!

    Thank you

    Linda

    Hi Linda,.

Hard disks have different acoustic characteristics according to the manufacturers (and in overall models from the same manufacturer).  In addition, you went with a 1 TB of HARD drive that probably have a rotational speed of 5400 RPM on a faster drive.  If you are hearing just weak 'rattling', I think it's perfectly normal and given the utility disk HARD sees no problem with the drive, I would say that everything is fine.

  • Satellite A110 installs recovery disk but HARD DRIVE not displayed

    Hi guys,.

After searching the net, I finally found a forum in which I hope you can help me.
I tried to search this forum for an answer but couldn't find him.

I have a toshiba satellite a110-159, who, after a setback, did not start.
CHKDSK discovered many problems when I plugged the hard drive to another pc, but the laptop could not even boot from the disc.

Anyway, I copied the most important data and back up the disk in the laptop. with product recovery center of disks that I was able to reinstall windows xp installation support, but after the first reboot, the laptopt did not find the hard drive, it is not displayed in the bios.

strange, although the recovery disks installed... anyone know how REList the hard drive in the bios? It has been listed here before reinstalling windows xp mc...:(donc c'est comme il a fait quelque chose avec le bios ou presque.)

hope you guys know what is the problem with this one.
    thnx in advance!

    Edit:
the drive is accessible when it is placed in another system of system or desktop with converter and copy and works very well.

What makes you look very risky!
You are lucky that your laptop still works...

I would not recommend doing so. If you want to set the BIOS to factory settings then set the defaults in the BIOS settings.

In any case thanks for your comments

  • HP Pavilion Notebook Hard drive question and OS reinstall

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-2155dx Entertainment Notebook PC, series: CND0053PFN.

I recently received an error message of the INTELLIGENT notification that a failure of the hard drive was imminent (I also had a flat battery as well, thank YOU HP!). I backed up my files to an external hard drive to COMPUSA, bought a new hard drive and installed. I inserted one of my computer come with recovery disks (HP or Best Buy made so I can't make new ones if I wanted to). After a minute or two of hearing the reader has read that I received an error "No Bootable disc - insert boot disk and press any key." Tried several times more. Reorganize the BIOS settings to make the drive to read first, no help.

I then came here, looked at a few other discussions. They were no help. (this is a as http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-e-g/no-bootable-Device-Insert-Boot-Disk-and-... I watched)

I tried most of the things on this page, including download of the boot disk utility, but even after the creation of this disc, I still get the "No Bootable disc - insert the startup disk, and then press any key" error. I then put the old hard drive new, and played music CDs to ensure that my drive was reading. It did not work properly. He also burned a disc as well so I think it's OK.

I tried to make an iso image to the new disk plugged hard upward with a USB connection and this is where I met another problem. My laptop said that there are only 98 GB available on the new drive connected by USB. It is a 250 GB drive.

What can I do to get just my copy of Windows on the new drive, so I can use my laptop without fear of a hard drive failure in the middle of a test for the College or something like that?

    Thank you.

    Hello:

I can't help with the problem of recovery disk, but if you can read the product key 25 character Microsoft Windows on the bottom of your PC, you can do your own installation of W7 (DVD or a flashdrive bootable) media.

    Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Replacing HARD drive questions

    My laptop is as follows:

    HP DV6-1355DX

    Windows 7

    OEM HARD drive is a WD 5000BEVT p/n: 499040-002

Other posts in this forum, I'm certain that my laptop HARD drive has failed.  I found multiple suppliers for the exact same HDD, but I know that the technology has changed since this particular laptop was bought there are 3 1/2 years.  That being said, I really have no idea on HARD drive except for their purpose.  So my question is can I replace/upgrade HARD drive with a different manufacturer/model?  If Yes, what manufacturer and model do you recommend, and other that physically remove/replace, what would I do for install (software) to make this new feature of HARD drive properly in the laptop?  I have a system recovery disk.

No, you don't have to worry about this. Version BPVT supports the Advanced Format Technology that should be more reliable than technology in the BEVT discs...

  • Sending for repair HARD drive question

7690 AMD GPU in my HP Envy 17-3000 fried, and I'll send for repair in a few days.

My question, will wipe they my secondary hard drive? I know they're going to wipe my primary SSD 128 GB drive, but what my secondary drive?

All program files and what are not the main boot disk and all my music/photos etc are on the secondary drive.

If so, I wiped more than 500 GB of files that I would like to keep, mainly the music, do I remove the hard drive and keep it so it does not keep? Or just leave it empty my warranty?

Also, what is the usual repair made on a fried GPU?

Hard drives are also on the list of devices customer replaceable in the guides maintenance & Service for all but the Ultrabook and tablet laptops.

If a HARD disk fails under warranty, HP can you send one for you to replace yourself. It does not void the warranty.

  • Keywords lost after (re) installation from an external hard drive

Last weekend, I formatted my HD PC and installed Windows 7 64-bit (previously installed was Vista). Human error was - perhaps - make sure my AppData backup is successful. However, my photo folder was a DHM, and I guess I would be saved anyway.
I ran the import function of my DHM in LR3 (latest version), and everything has gone just find, except that my keywords were missing. Strange thing however, that my lists of keywords and keyword suggestions were complete, but no connected to the photos (except 1!)
So my question is, is there something I have missed (outside my AppData folder) which could be fixed, or I'll have to start re-branding (keywording, metadata as dates etc. were imported as well)?

    Thanks in advance,

    OLE K

When individual images (some but not all in a folder) is missing, click the question mark on the frame of the images in the grid, and navigate to the correct location of the image on your hard drive.

If an exclamation mark appears in addition to a folder in the Control Panel folder right click on this folder and , that is, navigate to the correct location of the folder on your hard drive.

Do this for the file above in the hierarchy which show question marks and all subfolders will be found by LR too, provided that the structure of folders and folder names have not changed.

Question marks appear only when you moved in images / files off LR through your operating system, but also when you rename the files / images outside of LR.

All of these things, moving images / folders, renamaming images / files are better made in LR. This way LR keeps track of its new location / the new name.
