Installation on Fedora 18 Canon MF4150

I can't install the drivers from Canon for my Image class MF4150 on Fedora 18. I get a message saying that the signing of security is missing.  How can I rectify this? Can I create a signature of security, or if I can get around the need for these somehow?

I use Fedora x86_64 18. I was able to install it using 'yum install--nogpgcheck foo' as root. There are two drivers that must be installed. The two are going to extract from the downloadable file.

  • Impossible to install the driver Windows 7 for my Canon MF4150 USB printer and scanner-worked in XP

Original title: Windows 7 x 64 Windows printer problems is not able to resolve

The scanner and my Canon MF4150 USB printer was working fine with my Windows XP computer.

I got a new computer with Windows 7 x 64 OS and I can't get the printer to work.

I downloaded the printer driver specified for Windows 7 x 64.

The installation program is not accepted as I get a message that the resource file are not available.

I then added the printer manually without success.

The strange thing is that it shows in devices and printers but nothing prints.

Initially, it has the usual green check that the default printer then becomes a warning sign yellow when I try to print.

Right-click on the printer and select "Printer properties" and select "Canon MF4100 series UFRII LT" in the SUP menu if it exists, this name may be different in your machine. After the Properties window shows tab select the 'Port '. change the port to another USB port (the one that the printer is connected to), and then apply the changes. Your problem should be solved.

    I hope this helps

First contact Canon for a possible upgrade.

Then try to use the printers and Scanners pane in the system preferences application to see if it will recognize your scanner. Many current scanners is recognized and you can scan with the application overview.

If none of these help to look into Hamrick VueScan software. I use Vuewscan with my is further supported the scanner Nikon 4000ED.

Another way to get everything working in an installation of Fedora 14 is to start here: http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/14/Fedora/i386/iso/Fedora-14-i386-DVD.iso which is to halfway down the page here: http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-fedora-options#formats. You need to do a manual installation for easy install does not work. But the thing is that when you are offered the possibility of a customized installation that chosen, then install everything listed in the developer section. I suspect only a couple offered packages are needed, but not being is not an expert, I don't know which ones to Linux. However, install all packages provide what the installer seek the end of the installation tools and everything I tried works, including the shared folder.

  • Installation of fedora Linux next to my window 7 (dual boot)

    Hello

I am facing a problem while installing fedora on my computer windows laptop Z580 7.

I had narrowed the C drive to get 100 GB of free unallocated space where I could install the linux os.but when installing, I am confronted to error: ERROR of PARTITIONING "could not allocate requested partitions: not enough free space on disk.»

After going to some forums, I discovered the issue could be with limitation of the disk partition hard drive that is 4.

computer laptop lenovo already have 4 partitions additional partitions.and for / and / home etc for linux, this problem occurs.

Please advice me how I can solve this problem.

    Thank you

What happens if I also remove the disk tool from lenovo (of course after a backup of DVD) and merge it with the C drive. This primary transmission of woud do it3 and I can then install linux?

    Hi all

    Thanks for the responces.

I was able to install fedora 17 next to my win7 os.

I had to remove the drive Lenovo (with installation for the drivers files) after a backup of DVD.

However, these two days has been very difficult... and had a bad experience.

I changed the configuration of grub and installed nvidia package(was_just_experimenting_ _ ).after, I did the restart.it just won't enter the linux system. Although Win 7 was very good.

I am frustrated, lil being a novice and decided to reinstall linux by replacing the old linux.

Yet once the curse of maximum 4 primary partition now comes in picture, whenver I tried using USB or Live CD

He would show me errors. Then I felt that I had to delete the Win disk linux partition manager... thought tool.but. Overrride grub on the MBR could be a problem when I would have started to get into Win7, because he would have got deleted as well with the linux partition. I went to EasyBCD and used an option (I have no idea if it works or not. took the risk) and run the possibility of placing the win vista/7 start files on the MBR, (thinking that he could remove the replacement of GRUB).

Then I rebooted and BAM. I was lost as soon as I saw the message failed to initialize. (I have no bootable Win7)

But sometimes the rescue... A key recovery saved me in 15 minutes, he did recovery .and I could retrieve the settings to factory default, althogh I lost a part of the very important files.

Then, I deleted the disk Win Manager linux partition and reinstalled again.

now, the two systems operate correctly.

Conclusion: 1 Linux can not be installed in a system with 4 primary partition already existing (I could be wrong here)

    2. its safe to remove drive lenovo (containing the driver set up files), once you have the back upward.

    3. you must avoid changing any configuration for grub bootloader (unless you are an expert)

    4. for my case, normal Live CD has failed. I had to create a live USB (way fedora live usb creator) and I had to

delete files with the extension .efi (a person of some fedora forum suggested do), until I booted from it.

    Hello

I recently installed the update 3.0 to the fusion.  I downloaded 64-bit fedora 11 kernel and I am trying to configure a virtual machine.  I did merge the image on my desktop and selected "other linux 2.6 of the 64-bit kernel" (or whatever the exact wording is).  Then the installation program just hangs.  I see a single line that says "ISOLINUX 3.75 2009-04-16....  Any suggestions?  I actually burn a DVD for the installer to work?  Thank you

    D

JSYK Fedora 11 (no basis and has not been since 6 kernel) is not supported under VMware Fusion 3 (VMware Fusion 3: operating systems supported).  That said, not taken in charge and it will work can be two different things, and while you can get it installed you can still have problems get VMware Tools installed and working properly.

The fact that you're stuck at this stage of the boot process, I would check to see that the checksums for the ISO that you downloaded matches what is published. Take a look to: check your ISO download

No you don't need not first burn it to optical media and I would not without first checking the amounts of control over ISO you downloaded if you choose to burn it.  BTW install directly from the ISO Image is much, much faster then optical media even read/write from the same drive.

  • How can I stop firefox auto discovered printers on fedora?

On Linux Fedora (19 & 20 at least, probably others) Firefox automatically detects printers connected to the network, completely independently of CUPS. The printer it finds for me is legitimate, but it does not install the drivers to make it work properly. If this printer is used, it will display gibberish; control of PDF language, sometimes total sometimes undesirable. It restores the right page and tons of paper waste.

    Thank you!

    Thank you.

I found that avahi-daemon is the culprit. I just do a fresh install of Fedora 20. I have not configured all printers, and yet the printer 'bad' appeared in the list of printers in Firefox. After that I stopped avahi-daemon and avahi - daemon.socket, the printer went away.

I also noticed with my installation of Fedora 19, bad printer went if I put my computer on a different subnet.

So the next step is to understand how to configure avahi to not behave in this way when it runs.

    I appreciate your help.

      • Post script *.

I looked at what I could find on avahi, but seems not be one any affecting to ignore a particular host. However, after a survey, I found the right setting on my Lexmark E260DN to change. Under TCP/IP settings, there is a checkbox for "mDNS." The default value is on. Once I turned it off, that solved the problem, allowing me to reactivate the avahi on my computer safely. I had looked for something like this earlier, but missed, I was looking for things like 'Hello', "zeroconf", "DNS - SD" or something similar.

  • Try to have a dual-boot with Windows 10 & FEDORA

    Hello
I have 10 Windows installed. I want to have a dual-boot installation of Fedora 23.
I created a partition. I installed Fdora. Everything seemed fine, but my system keeps on startup on Windows 10. I never get a dual-boot menu.
No idea where this can be configured?

    I did or tried things:
-updated my bios to the latest version
-looked for installation of UEFI, I can't find where I can add the grub Fedora (something) any idea?
-changed the quick boot setting in the Windows registry to 0
-tried many things in the BIOS but no luck

    Thank you
    Damien

    Hello

Please tell me a little background here.
-C' was a unit of 10 Windows factory installed? Means to come with factory Win10? If not, this operating system has been installed on the factory unit? 7, 8, 8.1?
-I guess that the aircraft had Win10 and you then added 23 Fedora. How did you go about to achieve this? Did you use the installer to resize a partition first? Which partition?
-Don't you let Installer automatically configured partitions or did you do it manually?

I tried it myself and was only partially successful, but got a quite different result that you did.
Win10 has been installed at the factory.
I resized the partition system (c) allow about 100 GB for Fedora 23.
Let the installer automatically created the partition in that space.
Once installed, the unit can restart in GRUB2 (Please note: NO of Win10) and let me choose boot Fedora or Win10.
The boot of Win10 was however broken and I had to take a few steps of dignostic before Win10 has finally started ok (as did 23 Fedora of course).

Then when everything was done, the device starts in GRUB2 and let me choose between Fedora and Win10.

  • Installation of XP is no longer recognized by the Setup disk after Format of Partition

    Hey all,.

In short, my problem is that I have an installation of XP (home or professional) intact windows, but after deleting another partition, the computer does not start to it. My question is what are all the things needed for a computer can be started on the windows partition - even just to the loading screen (which files are needed on the partition, for example boot.ini file, which must be in the MBR, how to mark a partition as bootable; etc.). Here is a description of exactly what has happened and what is the current situation:

I was working on a friend's computer, and he asked me to delete the partition that it has not been used (D) and melt in his primary partition (C) where was the installation of Windows. I used a program called Easeus to format the partition for Windows let me to merge. The program asks for a restart, and then it is initialized to a screen where he deleted the partition, then restarted once again, probably to load Windows.

That's where the trouble starts. Instead of windows, I have nothing else than a cursor flashing ("_") in the upper left of the screen. After 60 seconds, nothing was. I rebooted a couple of times, still no windows.

The first thing I tried was to throw the disc to reinstall the window. I got to the screen configuration and supported on entry to choose a windows installation to repair, however he could not find one on the drive C (or D). I then tried to install Windows on drive D, hoping at least to be able to access the files on your computer with a parallel installation and then clean things later, but the installation struck a BSOD (sorry I don't have the message). The last thing I tried using the recovery console, but the only one installation of Windows that he found was on the D drive (I guess it was the remains of the failed installation that I had tried just because it contained only a few system files).

So I still need an operating system to access the files on the C drive, so I did an installation of Fedora Linux (on a small new partition in drive D). I could check on the files and they were all intact, including the Windows system files. I could not find anything wrong with the partition, except for the apparent absence of a file boot.ini on drive C. I tried to add a boot.ini file by default (even though I wasn't sure exactly what should be in it). I can only assume that when my friend had the computer built with partition by a local technology company, they did the D drive partition bootable, but put the Windows files on the C drive. It makes no sense, but I can't find any other reason format another partition that windows would make it unbootable.

The problem is, now, I have GRUB installed to Fedora. GRUB cannot boot directly on Windows, so he has to begin on an another bootloader that can. I think I have GRUB pointing to the right partition, but I get an error message. So, what I want to know from a point of view of Windows is everything necessary for a successful boot, assuming I can get GRUB to work on his end. What should a healthy Windows boot look - exactly, what should happen?

The other option, of course, must do a fresh install of Windows on drive C (and hope for no BSOD more). I could put all the files on the partition of Fedora and move them back after the relocation. So what you think - is it worth a try even to save the current installation of Windows?

Feel free to ask questions or for clarification. I have a limited capacity to test things, I have to wait until I can get to his computer. Your help is very appreciated!
