  Here is some additional information from a previous post, I wrote that explains the choice of color, photo, and gray photo cartridges.

  This can be simple or complex depending on your threshold of 'best' of the photo.  I will describe the different cartridges and their uses and then suggest some options.

  The cartridge 98 is a pigmented black ink.  It is used for printing text and some plain paper inkjet graphics paper.  It is not compatible with the glossy photo paper and it is not used for printing on these materials.  This will be the best choice for printing text.

  The 95 cartridge is a cartridge color tri containing inks cyan, magenta and yellow dye based.  It is suitable for printing on paper or ordinary photo media and can print photos respectable.  When you print graphics that the 95 cartridge can be used to print in black in some modes because the point for the 95 cartridge size is smaller that the 98, so the 95 can produce more nice graphics in greyscale to the 98.

  The 99 cartridge is a photo cartridge and is exchanged with the 98.  It contains clear, clear magenta cyan and black photo dye based inks.  Unlike the 95 99 cartridge can produce the entire range of colors by itself, it must be used with a 95 color cartridge.  When you print the photo 99/95 combination can give better results in the light areas sugh as faces and sky tones.  The results can be less grainy than when you use the cartridge 95 by itself.  Then the 99 can be used to print text, it will be a bad choice because the dye based ink is not as good on paper for printing text.

  The 100 is a photo cartridge and is exchanged with the 98.  It contains dye based ink black, grey and light grey.  The 100 cartridge can print print B & w. excellent in itself.  When used with 95 cartridge, it can provide more detail in the dark areas than the 95 by itself.

  Then... the appropriate combinations would be the following.  I suggest you print the same photo with different combinations to see if there is a difference and an advantage for a particular application.

  98/95 best text, best for all round impression.  Best on plain paper.  Respectable for photo on photo paper.  Unless you print a photo using one of the other combinations and compare side by side you can think they're perfectly fine.  More economical

  99/95 the best for printing photo on photo paper.  Less grain than the combination of 98/95, it will be especially noticeable in clear areas like the facial tones or sky.  Can be used for the printing of the ordinary, but not really optimal paper for this.

  100/95 best for B & W photo printing on photo paper or improving color impressions.  Perhaps the best detail then the combination 98/95 or 99/95, in particular in dark areas.

  I have a few cartridges 99 and 100, but rarely use while I find the combination of 98/95 to suit my casual photo printing needs.  I see a difference of photos put side by side among the different options, but given one of them autonomous with the fact that it would look fine without a 'better' option to compare.

• HELP PLEASE! I lost about 400 GB of MP4 (film and audio book) using Chkdsk files. He repaired broken sectors/files regardless, but it changed the extentions. How can I find new extensions? they are there, but I don't know how to find them.

  I have Vista Home Premium. I have a huge media collection for my ipod. I save all my video files and files on an external hard drive (my book 500 GB) audiobook while they clutter up my internal drive and so I can store them where my internal drive has failed somehow... Well I got the opposite happens. I started to get my video files would not open in their records. I ran Chkdsk utility to "fix" the files. When the program has finished running he had a Msg: something has changed the names of files and everything I was supposed to go to the files and the rear switch (as far as I can remember... I don't wear SPECIAL attention for the MSG that I thought it was normal and the program would take me to the files when it was done... ERROR. All desktop shortcuts no longer find files directly by going to my computer, then by looking at the HD I cannot find the files.  I used the program REcuva file hippo and it restores the few files that have been deleted out of the dirve and allowed to see some of the video files and audio books (but no tag info remained on the recovered files. I had to so I would like to know what they rename them). Other than these few files... less than 20 I t help either. Records that they are still there, but it asks me to open files with a program from a list of choices and not of the program draw files. (the choice to choose this high program open this type of file is also blacked out). Also when I run the cursor over the records of the size of the files do not match wat I know should be in the files. But if I just look at the my computer screen and run the cursor over the icon of the letter itself it show that there is 435 + GB hard disk info and 50 + GB of space left on it.
  A few questions:
  1. is it possible to see all the possible msg that the command chkdsk can generate so I can find that he gave me when he fixed my files?
  2 - How can I find these files if I don't know the extensions I'm looking for? they were for quicktime mp4 files, but I don't know now.

  Go to start / Control Panel / folder Options / View and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.  You should also check the box to see the system and hidden files while you're there.  This should show you the extensions of all files if that is the problem.  You can then rename the files for extensions are associated with a program that will open and read the files (you may need to experiment first with some programs to find one that works and an extension that works if they have been changed).  I don't know any way to do this for all files at once - they will have to be renamed individually (yes - I realize counts the number of files involved, but I know of no program in Vista or even a 3rd party program that will change the extensions for a group of files at a time - you can check for yourself on www.tucows.com and www.download.com).

  Desktop Shortcuts no longer work because either the file type of the source file has changed and the shortcut does not open the file, or because the file has been moved and the shortcut can not find the path.  You should be able to check the path by finding files (whatever they are now called) and see if they are in the same directories in path as they were before this happened.  I think it's because the source file works more correctly because of the extension (or corruption).

  Recuva to recover lost or deleted files - not the files that are on the system (and you won't not solve your problem by deleting them and then use Recuva to recover because it sounds like the problem is with the extensions and Recuva is not going to be able to correct it (it is not part of his program)).

  There's no list of ALL possible messages that might be generated by chkdsk I know.  Here is an article on the chkdsk command works in XP and some messages it generates - but far from everything and nothing look like the one you receive (and it works essentially the same under Vista): http://www.isd518.net/District/TechDir/Help/Chkdsk.htm.

  The backup on your internal hard disk drive will not solve the problem - just move it.  The 'damage' to the files are already done a backup now will not solve anything.  The fact that the drive is set up in format FAT32 is not the question (and probably not the question in the first place is) and change to NTFS now is not going to solve the problem (although you can do that after all this has been resolved).

  I won't tell you to cut your losses - this is a pretty drastic step and there may still be other options (although I don't know myself).  You can take the reader to a recovery expert data (NOT Geek Squad or one of these other major centres to store) which may be able to recover some, most, or all files.  It will be expensive and only you can decide if it's worth the cost.  These people usually the game fee and do not offer a guarantee of recovery - even if they don't recover anything you always pay.  The decision is yours.

  I'm new to Lightroom, but not to the digital imaging.  I am deciding whether or not to use Lightroom as archiving software.  I have imported photos with various types of files in Lightroom, copy them into the default location and convert NEF photos in .dng files.  Everything seems as it should in what concerns the lists on the left, and the files are where they are supposed to be in the default locations and are operable and viewable in photoshop.

  The problem is that everything that is displayed in the environment Viewer are rectangles greyed.  No images.  Can I export an image in a different file type to an external location and display it correctly.  So all the images are there and LR know where they are (since he created and put them there).  The film in low also rectangles is just gray.

  I have no idea what prevents images from appearing and I hope someone here can help.  I am running XP SP3 and Lightroom 2.5 632038 Raw 5.6.  I import files NAVE of Nikon and a D300 camera Coolpix 4000 Scanner.  Photoshop reads all of these pictures raw with their plug-ins.  Moreover, I also imported jpg and tiff files and they do not appear in the screen either.

  Believe it or not, your monitor profile is corrupt. A corrupted profile can sometimes manifest only in LR and not in other programs managed by color as Photoshop.

  Either use a hardware standard, which is the best thing (look up on the web Spyder), or modify your monitor profile by default in sRGBxxxx, with the rest of your profiles. On Windows XP, you can do this through control of management/display/settings/advanced/color of the Panel. Make the second of these two things is really just a stopgap. If you don't calibrate it with a hardware device, you will always have incorrect colors.

  Anyway, to convince yourself that the profile is in fault, change it in the color management.

• After the closure of 7.0.1, win7 64 bit and reopenning firefox, tabs on the toolbar are there but does not (something new).

  Something new today. I have seen on the taskbar tabs (each of them can present a few tabs) that appear on the task bar, but the open habit. In order to get something to open I have to set on the Firefox icon on the desktop. Then this session opens with several windows and tabs... but the other tabs remain unopennable. When you move them on the taskbar, they show the empty boxes, while others look ok.

  The transition to Windows 10, I had problems with the printed colors.  Recently, I installed 2 new black cartridges and with each had the problem that it does not correctly print black.

  I did a test clean cartridge HP page and it was perfect. Next an Excel sheet printing showed only a few black and the other showed no black at all. (Note that the blue parts are out more purple than blue).

  Any help gratefully received.

  I have a HP laptop and my printer is a HP EnVY 4500 e-all-in-one-series.

  I installed a new black cartridge Ref. HP61. The printer will scan, but the alignment fails. This is a new printer. I had an old HP printer that does the same thing. That's why I bought thinking it was the HP ENVY printer.

  Thus, the new cartridge, new printer, same problem, will not align the scanned map.

  What looks like the alignment sheet?

  Missing colors?

  I would like to do a hard reset to see if that will solve the problem.

  • Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
  • Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector) This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
  • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges.
  • Load white letters unused, plain or paper of A4 format with a brightness level of at least 85 on the set.

  (1) get a pan and put 1/2 "of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.
  (2) remove all ink cartridges, then remove the print head Assembly.
  (3) gently put the printhead nozzles down in water and soak for 5 minutes.
  (4) remove the print head and gently dry the electrical contacts.
  (5) replace the print head in the printer and then reinstall the ink cartridges.

  I just installed a new black cartrdige of ink in my printer HP 6520.  It will not be printed.  I tried soaking of the thought of the cartridge it may be clogged.  That did not help

  This printer has been replaced once already because it has not previously.  Is there something else to try?

  Download wireless network drivers

  Visit the manufacturer's Web site and select your model (this is usually done in the Support section). You should be able to download drivers for your model if they have drivers for your version of Windows. Download the driver (s) and follow the instructions to install - every computer is different, so I can't give you exact directions.

  If you cannot access to the use of the internet, another computer and save the driver on a CD/DVD/card reader.
