Intermittent operation of CPU fan

We have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 December 2010.

The last days, fan runs intermittently high/low to a 5s interval when the PC starts to heat.

When we use the Speedfan introduced to manually control the behavior of the CPU fan, it does not.

It seems so that the fan is not broken, but the CPU fan control algorithm has changed or is influenced in some way.

Any ideas how to fix this problem without having to use the software speedfan?

Well after looking through a hundred forums, I * think * I can found the solution.  Look in your programs to uninstall for Dell Datasafe.  You should notice it installed around the start of your problem (with the wizard of Support from Dell but I don't think that one is the problem).

Uninstall anything that says Dell Datasafe, then restart the computer.

I did and then I ran some graphic benchmarks to ensure that my CPU was well used.  The problem disappeared and has not returned since.

If you uninstall Datasafe and keep Dell Support Assistant don't forget to tick boxes in Wizard help for automatic download or you can find Datasafe relocate again!

Don't know what was Datasafe or why Dell has decided to install on my PC, but this seems to be the problem.  Good luck.

    Hello!

My iMac 27 "has an intermittent problem with the CPU fan runs at full speed. Sometimes it happens at the time when I start it, sometimes only in my session, and sometimes only after a certain time. So does seem to be a problem of "heating".

Second issue is with the mode 'sleep'. It may occur also at any time, at the start of the iMac, session, or after a certain time. But once he starts to go in mode 'sleep', when I wake up, it goes right back in mode after a few seconds and that it will continue indefinitely until I restart the computer.

    Greetings,

I have a frined of mine has a problem with his pc which is the cpu fan works as max speed 3800 RPM even when cpu temp at 40 or 50 c or even less than 40 years. I used air can clean the radiator, and now I think of take out and apply new thermal paste.

After using the PC for a long time it start freezing.

    What could cause this?

    PS. PC mobo is this

    Thanks in advance

    Hi, AOG,.

Reset the bios to default values (including all the bios profiles) and delete all the utilities of the could adjust the speed of the fan.  The overclocking utility is an example that could change the fan curve.

    Use the stock Intel heatsink?

Try a couple of different temperature, followed problems to ensure that the CPU temperature is correct. CoreTemp, PC Wizard and real Temp might be good choices.  Some temporary programs are known to be buggy.

Check the level of the bios of the motherboard against what has been posted.

  • Satellite 2410-404: screen is lost and the noisy CPU fan

    Hello

first: sorry for my bad English.

Now: I have several problems with my laptop:
    1. the monitor/screen is lost and does not stand up, so when I want to work with my laptop, I need to address something against the monitor, so it does not fall on the side. All the solutions to this?

    2. my Cpu fan is really strong and I have already opened the case and cleaned, but every day the noise comes back (assumed that his doesn't turn not very well and communicating with once in a while a part of the computer) and I have to reopen and touch several times until it works normally.

    3. Furthermore, I lost my CD of Windows Recovery (OEM Version). Do I have to buy a new one if I want resettled windows?

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

    1. I guess the lid can not stay in the right position, because the hinges are a little loose.

    2. it looks like something wrong with the rotation of the fan. In such cases the easiest way is to change the fan.

    3. you can buy the CD recovery form the Toshiba service partner in your country. It s not very expensive.
But you can also install the original Windows operating system on your laptop and then you can install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities. All Toshiba stuff, you'll be able to download from the Tosh driver page.

  • Too loudly CPU fan speed

Two days ago, the CPU fan runs too fast and VERY strong.  I removed the fan and blew dust on the cooling fins.  When I removed the heatsink and found no dust behind it does not solve the problem. Put all back together and it works still very strong.  There was also a type of sealant between the processor and the heat sink.  I don't know what it was and what I should use it.  I don't know if the gasket would make a difference.  I have a Pavillion e9250t running Windows 7.  Would appreciate any help.  I am semi qualified but don't have any diagnostic tools and of course I cannot simply order a part on a basis of trial and error.  I tried to see if I could get a new HP fan, but he is listed as available only from dealer.  I don't know what that means I bought the HP device so there is essentially no dealer.  HELP please.

    Hi, John:

Yes, there are probably either something in your operating system, put such a load on your processor is it the cause of overheating, or the CPU temperature sensor has gone bad and he is sending false information to the fan to spin to the top.

... Or, it is possible that the motherboard has developed a problem too.

Go to your tools system and watch the resource monitor and check activity on the use of the processor and memory usage. You will see a list of processes and how many resources they use.

The material only easy thing you can try is to clear the CMOS and hope that, somehow, which resets the material.

Here is how to do this.

I always unplug the PC and press the power button to drain any residual power from the system first Board.

    Clear the CMOS settings

  • ASUS IPIBL - THE CPU fan error_BIOS v.5.13

My problem is very strange. When this error started, there really was a problem so I changed the original Cpu fan. Now I have a Cooler Master V8 and the temperature are between 30-35 °, so works very well. When I switch off the PC I always the same thing with the UPS, in order to spare batteries. When I turn on, the error appears again, but only for the first 3 or 4 attempts, and then starts normally.

I've seen in many forums the problem to go into the BIOS and disable the CPU SPEED of the FAN. Unfortunately this option doesn' exist in this motherboard, so I thought I'd by software, the operating system.

Is it possible or there is another way?

Solved! The error appears because the ROTATION speed of the fan is not, so after a lubrication (WD40 or CRC on the brushless) no problem.

  • Noise of Dell Studio XPS 9100 CPU fan failure CPU fan

My Dell Studio XPS 9100 did a loud intermittent noise for a few months and then last week I got a CPU fan fault message while booting. I blew all the dust from the fan and I always get the CPU fan failure message. I finally got the system starts by placing a small fan blowing air into the funnel will CPU/processor fan.

Alas, my warranty expired 2 weeks ago. I'm kicking myself contacting technical support a few months ago, when the problem started.

I need to replace the fan. What parts need me, and where can I get them?

    Thanks much for the reply.

Thank you. After being tossed a little I transferred to the sales and ordered a new CPU fan for a cost total which includes shipping and taxes of $42.25. Too bad it wasn't 2 weeks ago, then she would have been free.

The seller said that I would not need thermal paste. Is this correct?

  • The CPU fan surge

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 running Windows 7 that is about 5 years old.
The CPU is a Core i7 processor 870 2.93 GHz.

The CPU fan has recently begun to speed in full progress. After starting, it may take up to two hours for this outbreak taking place.

Here's what I've tried so far:
    1. diagnostics Ran Dell hardware illustrated trouble-free.
    2. open the computer and look for the dust problem. Current minimum dust. I cleaned up what was there. Also, I removed the CPU cooler-fan and sitting with the new thermal paste.
    3. I checked the BIOS. It has the latest update.
    4. I have recently started using safe and noted it was more all this CPU fan after a few days of operation in full progress. After you restart normally, fan surging stood again after an hour.

Any ideas on fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated. Should I try re-flashing the bios? I've got a new CPU cooler fan. Is it useful to replace the old unit.

This is probably caused by recent updates of Dell Data Vault and SupportAssist. Many other users have exactly the same problem on various models of PC.

Dell is working on a fix. In the meantime...

    1. Press Windows + R and run "msconfig" (without the quotes)
    2. Click on the Services tab
    3. Find "Dell Data Vault.
    4. Clear the check box
    5. Click on the Startup tab
    6. Find Dell 'SupportAssist' and uncheck the box
    7. Reset
    8. You can get advice on "Selective startup", but simply to cancel the notice.

Stay tuned for a solution that will allow you to check these boxes again and re-use Data Vault and SupportAssist (if you want or need them).

  • Tecra A9 - after CPU fan upgrade works constantly at full power

    Hi all

I have 3 Tecra A9 notebook that came with a Core2Duo T7100 clocked at 1.8 Ghz with 2 MB of Cache. Updated every 3 to a T7700 clocked at 2.4 Ghz with 4 MB of Cache. According to Intel, these two processors TDP is 35W. Books don't get really hot and not hot. The CPU FAN starts right full power after the display of the BIOS with the Toshiba Logo screen. Under Bios Version 2.1 on all 3 systems, having the same behavior on all 3 systems. CPU properly recognized under Windows XP, Win7, and Win10. Is it possible to get the adjusted to normal CPU fan? The system isn t is hotter than upgrading the CPU, just for some reason any BIOS has now decided the fan must operate at full power. I even traded one of the CPU Fans with that of a Tecra A10 notebook but had the same effect as with the original fan. Having no idea what I could do. I hope for your help!

    Best regards

I think that needs calibration to be performed to configure the table of fan speed.
Toshiba Service Center to do this.

I noticed some not very good sound from my cpu fan, as well as my 17 "laptop overheating.
I decided it was time to replace the cpu - model KSB0505HA fan

Now I wonder where I can buy a new fan for this model?
I found a site in New Zealand, but the fan is for the P305 series, and I'm not sure if it would be compatible with my laptop.

Could someone advise me on where I can get a new fan of cpu for this series?

    Thank you ~.

I'm looking for one in my country - the New Zealand!

Added that the search for a New Zealand

P305 is probably model proposed in US, but it must be the same as P300 in Europe or in THE so I think it should be good.

I put t know where you can order it, but try to use Google and check if you can find a store online in AU where you can order.

I can also imagine that you can order by the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. Call and ask.

  • Satellite P200 - need CPU fan replacement

I have a Satellite P200-16V and my problem is on the cpu fan.

I tried to open it, but after the keyboard, hard drive, Rams, OVOCHECK and 40-50 screws and some cables, I realized I have to get out the motherboard and screen mabe and I close it again after 3-4 hours. The cpu fan has been breaking and I don't know what to do.

I am from Greece. If I go to the toshiba in Greece, I can find a cpu fan or any system cpu radiator? Can you help me?

    Hey Buddy,

Looks like the fan needs to be replaced and therefore, you should contact the closest service provider authorized in your country. Guys can order a replacement part and swap it out.

On the Toshiba site, you can find a list of them:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

Sorry, but everything that s what I can say. Here it s only a user forum so I think no one knows the exact number of part or a manual how to take apart the laptop but the ASP can do for you. :)

  • Portege R700 - high CPU fan noise

    Hello

I own the Canadian version of the Portege R700, called Tecra R700 (PT319C-00E002).
The CPU fan always runs between 43 percent and 51 percent (regardless of the mode of selected frequency), which makes the noisy computer - too noisy to be used comfortably, too noisy to be used at meetings of air-conditioned silent.

The fan seems to be controlled by the BIOS, as well as applications such as SpeedFan are unnecessary. Is there a way to fix this?

    Kind regards.

    Hi dernierrecours,

    > CPU fan always running between 43 percent and 51 percent (regardless of the selected frequency mode)
This means that the fan runs always at the same level regardless cooling method that you can choose in Windows power management?

Well, have you tried updating the BIOS? The latest version is installed?
Check out the Toshiba page for an update.

  • Satellite L670 cpu fan noise

As I sit in front of my new laptop L670, from the left end of the keyboard comes up and down a whirring frequent sound that I'm pretty sure is the CPU fan
    (not HD).
What is too much? I find it disturbing. There is no sound from my old Toshiba 1 year. The room temperature is a constant 20degrees, so it is not overheating.
And does so even when sitting idle with just the screen Windows7 IE no software activity going on at all.

I'm worried that this is a faulty computer. It is old (for me) - 2 days, purchased new. Still able to resume.

    Grateful for any thoughts.

    Hello

I put t know how I can you use your laptop, but for normal use I recommend to use the balanced power plan. Enter the advanced power settings for the management of the balanced diet and open Toshiba power saver.
You will find options for cooling method.
    Set to optimized battery.

This should reduce the activity of fan cooling.
    Please test.

  • Tecra S11 - CPU fan is high speed

    Hello

We have a problem with nine Tecra S11 / Windows 7 64-bit. The CPU fan is noisy high speed during ignition and start Windows. No change after logon. Speed remains unchanged up to go to the sleep mode once. After waking up, everything is OK.

For me, it seems to be a problem with the firmware (BIOS). Update V1.70 but no change. We have same problem with the S11.

    Any ideas?

    Cordially Stevep

    Hi Stevep_1,

Have you tested different cooling options in Windows power management? Check it for each profile, and then select battery optimized cooling.

    It work?
