Internet - online access problems

I use a wireless home network.  When you access some sites internet the system automatically strikes me offline, and I have to click on tools and work offline button go back online.  For some addresses it keeps switch to offline mode and will not allow me to go online to access the site.  If I go to a different address, it works normally.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks for the help

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your router > make sure you have the latest Firmware in Vista for it.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/notebook > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for it last network adapters Vista drivers > download/install the.

Try without commitment TCP/IPv6:

If you still have internet connection probs, one thing to try is the separation of the TCP/IPv6 (which is done by going to network connection > right click > properties > it uncheck > OK.)

I don t think you will be able to find a free channel Sky One in the internet.
But I'm not an expert m and this is only my personal opinion.
If you don t have a satellite or cable TV, you could buy a DVB - T TV tuner, and maybe then you will be able to receive more channels TV using MCE ;)

  • Wired Internet access problem

Sorry for the long post, but I want to give you all the information possible to help me.

I play for my father guy remote tech support, but my credentials in the field of networking are rather weak, so I need help.

My father recently interrupted an update of Windows on his laptop computer. (He thought the computer was off, but instead the screen had just blanked, and when he thought he was turning on the computer, it is in fact the computer off during the update).

Since this event, his cell phone was not able to connect to the internet with a wired or wireless connection.

When it is connected directly to the DSL modem and it brings up the internet browser, it get an error "cannot display web page". In response to the offer of the IE to diagnose the connection problem, he diagnosed the problem and it is usually said that it only is not an IP address. Another time, he suggested that he 'cycle' his modem and router.

It would be the right information to take at face value except... the wired connection was taken directly from his desktop... that connects successfully to the internet. For example, it can surf the internet from her desktop computer, but when he takes the ethernet cable from the desktop computer and plug it on the laptop, it cannot access the internet.

So - at least seems to me-there is really no problem with the modem or the ISP he uses (the modem is an ACTIONTEC, which also has wireless capability).

I think that there is a problem with his laptop, perhaps with network components. Maybe they need to be replaced? But I'm not an expert and I do not know how to try this.

I asked him to do an IPCONFIG/all in a command window, and it is (approximately) that he comes back (he read the results for me on the phone):

    Windows IP configuration

    Name of the host...: MY_LAPTOP

Looks like he gets an IP address... so what could be the problem?

Can someone help me fix his laptop computer connection, either by telling me how to reinstall the network components or even helping me diagnose the connection problem?

My father lives miles away from me, if it's a little hard to do it remotely.

    Thanks for any help.

Problems caused by a Windows Update break are probably better asked in the Windows Update forum, but I can suggest a few things, account required to the information you provided.

Error messages are received? If so, give them in its entirety, without paraphrasing.
Check the event viewer (start > run > eventvwr > OK) for the recent error messages (no need to go far back in time).  Double-click any line in the observer of events that shows and error to open the 'Properties' window for more details

Event Viewer messages can be copied to the Clipboard (and then pasted into a response by email or forum) by clicking on the copy icon (below arrows up/down) on the property page.

What version of Windows (right click on my computer > properties)?

According to the reported data, the computer seems to have a wireless connection with success, but the lack of a default gateway is suspect, as is the 'no' beside "DHCP enabled".  I suspect, as Saurabh Joshi apparently already done, that the wireless card has been configured manually (for example, a static IP address).  In any case, you don't even mention the existence of a wireless network.

Information for the Ethernet (wired) connection certainly shows a failure to get an IP address from the router.

Try to deal with network problems 3rd hand is really shooting in the dark, but while you wait for an answer on the forum of Windows Update, the following steps should not hurt and may in fact make things.

    1 reset TCP/IP (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357)

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
In the black command prompt window, type the following line and press enter
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Then close the command prompt window

    2 reset Winsock (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259)

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
In the black command prompt window, type the following line and press enter
    netsh winsock reset
Then close the command prompt window

    3. restart the computer and see if connection has changed.

  • Internet access problem

I don't know it is purely a problem of Vista, but the tech at my IP guy thought so. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give!

Details: HP Pavilion, Windows Vista, by modem cable (not wireless).

Last week, my IP had a power outage in my area. My internet has completely disappeared for a few hours. When he returned, my internet connection was not quite right. I had access to some web sites, but not others. Some web sites would only partially (ie. text but no pictures). It's true that I used Internet Explorer or Safari. In addition, AOL Instant Messenger would work not (connection failed).

I contacted the technical support of my IP the next day. A high level (supposedly) tech guy helped me for several hours. He had me doing many tests, including completely un-installing my anti-virus (Norton) to see if that would help. No change.

He sends a new modem for me the next day to see if that was the problem. The modem works fine, but it did not help. (The guy who tested my line on his laptop computer. He had full internet access. "I was still unable to connect to several websites, or PURPOSE, same as before).

After that, the tech guy refused to help me no more. He said that he was strictly a PC problem. I agree that there must be something wrong with my PC, no doubt with Vista, although all the problems began immediately after the failure (and everything was fine before this).

I would really like to understand this problem, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

I want to thank all of you for your help. For some strange reason, everything returned to normal yesterday, without changing me anything on my PC. I don't know how this could happen, others that it really was a problem with my provider, and something got zero to their end somehow. Yes, which is not supposed to, but nothing about it makes no sense either.

Anyway, thanks again for the help.

I have several devices connected to via my router to the internet including the PC (running Windows 7) a sky box, X Box and several wireless devices.  In the last months, when I turn on the PC it other devices cannot use the internet.  At first, I thought that maybe spyware so I ran full scan with McAfee who find nothing and him uninstalled and I tried Microsoft Security Essentials and it identified no problems either.  I have the sky box and Xbox connected via a domestic, but it works well for a few years now.  Suggestions as to what could be the cause?  It may have started after a Windows automatic update is it possible?

    Hi GESH78,

-You are able to access the Internet outside of Windows Store?

This issue may be caused if you are using the proxy settings, incorrect settings or store waiting for update needs to be installed on your computer. I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

    (b) in the left pane, press or click find updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your PC.

    (c) if updates are found, tap or click install updates.

Read and accept the terms of the license and then press or click Finish if the update requires it. You may be prompted for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.

    Step 2:

I suggest you delete the Windows Store cache and check how it works.

    (a) press Windows + R logo

    (b) type wsreset.exe in the run window, and then press ENTER.

    Step 3:

Open a command prompt and type in the following:

  • Internet Explorer8 gel problems

We tried to download Skype and Internet Explorer8 keeps freezing on us.  Is is possible to solve the problem without having to upgrade to Windows 2007 and Internet Explorer9?

God - why you would think that you need to upgrade to Windows 7 (not "2007") and Internet Explorer 9 to "solve" a problem?  It seems that someone listening to extremists.

What software antivirus you are using, and he was always running, and updates?

You are in Windows XP Service Pack 3?

In any case... Here are the steps I would take to solve your problem:

In the Panel--> Add / Remove Programs (in that order, restart if necessary...)

    • I suggest you uninstall Skype if you have already installed.
    • Then, uninstall all browser plugins... (RealPlayer/Real Alternative, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Shockwave, QuickTime/iTunes, Silverlight, Java Runtime Environment (JRE) - all versions you have installed, etc.)
    • Also uninstall ALL toolbars - those who are just pigs resource and responsible for the problem.
    • Uninstall Internet Explorer 8 (back to Internet Explorer 7).

    Then I would...

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.

4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

While probably not 100% necessary-, it is probably a good idea at this time to ensure that you continue to get the updates you need.  This will help you ensure that your system update is ready to do it for you.

    Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update (you * NOT * use the aggressive version):
How to reset the Windows Update components?

    Reset.

Then, after all the above, I...

    • Install Internet Explorer 8
    • Reset
    • Search Windows Update and install all updates critical - avoid the optional.  Rebbot and repeat until there is no more critical.
    • Reset.
    • Install your plugins from the Internet browser (recent versions of their manufacturers download web pages...)
(Real Alternative, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Shockwave, QuickTime/iTunes, Silverlight, Java Runtime Environment (JRE), etc.).
    • Reset.
    • Download and install the latest version of Skype.

While I can't guarantee that will completely fix everything - he would certainly be on the right track and would likely result in a more rapid/better running machine.

You could follow that everything up with...

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

    ... and...

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

    ... On top of that.

Maybe even install a different Internet browser.  Always good to have a backup (Firefox for example), especially one you might find yourself using more Internet Explorer - make * it * your backup plan.  * smile *.
