investigating the potential use of the Site Recovery Manager

We are looking for site recovery manager.   We will use this as part of our DR solution for some virtual machines in our main data center.  I gather specifications on what equipment would be needed to the main data center and the data center of failover.  I was wondering if I could use the material of the Datacenter for failover as a development environment when nothing is failed over to it.  When there is a failover situation either of the tests or a real failover I would have built in that the development environment is stop so resources can be used for site recovery manager.

Is that what a realistic configuration that I have not dug into the details of the Site Recovery Manager at this time.

I can't control the LULU URL - so your best to use...

  • Site Recovery Manager is certified for the recovery of the database?

    Hi all

I is currently exploring the possibility of using the Site Recovery Manager for database DR scenarios.

Before you go more away and actually try to run some scenarios, I'd be interested if someone of you has tried to do the same thing and if you actually managed to go beyond the situation of disaster, i.e. with primary VM [stop] down, then activating the VM DR.

Another important aspect, I would be interested is the certification: the Site Recovery Manager is certified for the recovery of the VMS running databases?

And if so, what data is it certified by: Oracle 10/11, SQL Server 2005/2008, DB2 9.x, etc.?

If the answers are well known to my question, please just point me to the right source by a link - that should be enough.

    Thank you

    Dan

At EMC, we use this definition (which is fairly common):

Uniform crash means that all devices in a given consistency group are writing order in line at a point in time.  If an application can recover from an accident, such as would be seen with a power failure or any other event of failure, then the application can recover from failover.

While I can't give you a solution, I can share that I had a similar problem with an SRM installation.  Like yours, mine was a working facility which, for some strange reason, began to exhibit the same symptoms.  Start the service, in a second or two, stopped service.

I opened a ticket with VMware on the issue and in more than three months of back and fourth Exchange with various Tech support I have ever received a satisfactory answer on what caused it.  The 'solution' they gave me was to remove the database SQL RS and re - install SRM.  This 'solution' has worked, but if this question comes up, I'll probably have to back unpleasant, emphasizing the fact that they solve the problem.

I wish I could be more help, but that's it.  I feel your pain.

  • I am trying to perform a recovery using the "HP Recovery Manager", but I don't know what I should choose to do so.

    Update Code error 80070490

There, I had a update failed on Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465).  I tried the Mr. fix it, but the execution software failed.  Some time later, I'm now at the point where all of the updates fail and gives me the error code 80070490.  I tried the system tool - didn't work.  My computer is preinstalled with vista home premium, so I have no disks.  I am trying to perform a recovery using the "HP Recovery Manager", but I don't know what I should choose to do so.  Choose 'The essential system updates for Microsoft Vista SP 1'?  If so, he wants that I uninstall first.  How can I do this?

  • The goal of the "VMware-mount Service for Site Recovery Manager" Service?

    Hello

We experienced a problem return to SAN replication recently after the maintenance of software packages. When we stopped all services SRM replication started. We could then restart RS and everything was fine. One of the services that we had to stop was the "VMware ride Service for Site Recovery Manager. This does not normally work however and the start is set to manual. I made several test stimulus plans last weekend and has never seen work. Anyone know what is this service?

    Thank you

    Mike

    There literally this name...?

Normally, the Assembly in vCenter service is used by sysprep/deploy process...

Sysprep is used by SRM as one of the methods for re-IP-ing a VM, I think we can assume the of the same kind of service, but for a different purpose...

  • Windows Vista does not start after you use the Hp Recovery Manager. What should I do?

I used Recovery Manager to reinstall Windows Vista Basic 32-bit. During installation, it shows 0% completion although at the end it says everything is ok. After clicking on the button finish, he starts up the Recovery Manager again asking if I want to recover Windows. If I choose the Cancel button it restarts with the same Recovery Manager screen. What can I do?

You can call HP technical support at 1-800-474-6836. Or you can give your product number, not the serial number, and I'll try to send you the link to order yourself.

  • Problems accessing the HP Recovery Manager after the installation of new copy of Windows 7.

I have the HP Pavilion dv6 (2043us) originally with Windows 7 Home Premium. A recent storm crossed in my area, which seems to me to be the cause of a corrupt hard drive file that prevented Windows startup. My extra fathers using copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (is a prominent IT guy for his company, he has a lot to lose) I decided to install it from that rather than using the HP Recovery Manager in order to save my files (Windows Startup Repair and system restore failed, and to restore the default factory was not desirable) as I mentioned it because of my desire to save my documents) I have installed on the same partition as the original windows, allowing files to be viewed in Windows.old.

However, after all that, I came to the will to restore the default settings. However, after you press (esc) and (f11) to access the Recovery Manager, it is bring up the Windows Startup logo and the login screen. Is it possible to access the Recovery Manager and restore the default settings? If so, how should I do this? As I said, I left all the original parts intact, so I do not think it is possible after some research, but I'm not sure how to start the process.

This method to get the active recovery partition was first introduced to me by Cheryl here on the site. It may or may not work.

Right-click on computer and click Manage > search in the list on the left, and then open disk management. You should see the recovery partition it. Click right and whether it is active and the next time that you start it up, it should boot into the recovery partition and restore back to the factory.

  • The Acer recovery management will not run on switch 10

By the switch of my Acer 10 owner's manual, there are steps proposed to "create a backup recovery" and a "driver and application backup. But the Acer Recovery Management will run. When I click on Acer recovery management application, I get the screen of the security clearance. I click on "OK" to continue. Nothing happens. I tried several times. I also tried to run as an administrator without success. I have a 32 GB flash drive ordered. Is the flash drive must be inserted into the switch 10 for the application to run? If not, what am I doing wrong

You must insert the USB pen to perform recovery management, either by the way, if the Acer recovery management does not work, you can use windows built-in recovery.

  • Where should I copy my personal files temporarily before you run the HP Recovery Manager?

    Hi to everyone at HP!

Recently, I am experiencing problems with my HP Pavilion dv6, so in order to solve these problems, I have decided to use the HP Recovery Manager to restore the factory specifications it is. I was committed to do when I realized that I didn't have a way to back up my personal files (I don't own an external hard drive, nor enough empty disks).

After reading this post , I learned that I can save my files to a partition in the HARD drive.

    (Hope I'm clearly so far)

It turns out that I have 3 drivers of partition (C :), (d) and (e).)

My question is; If I temporally copy my personal files (d :) or readers (E :), they will always be there after that I completed the recovery operation?))

    Thanks for your time.

D: is your recovery partition, and no file should be backed up/saved there. Saving files it can cause the recovery fails.

E is probably the small partition system used by Win 7 to start. Not a good idea to save it & probably not enough space anyway.

Better to wait until you have an external source to backup the files.

BTW, if using recovery disks for HP reinstall will erase all partitions and restore to the factory plug. Only recovery F11 or Recovery Manager in the menu start leash added partition intact.

  • Cannot retrieve the hp Recovery Manager.

One day my windows got crashed and I installed windows 7 on it, but has not removed the recovery drive, now I can not install the hp Recovery Manager. help me what can I do to install it n get back breaking my original windows because I see the recovery of files in my recovery disk.

Buy a Flash DRIVE recovery HP or HP partner. Click on the link to the way to order a. USB STICK recovery media is more robust and is considerably faster than DVD media.

  • Correct the name of the site in manage files?

Our server has forced us to change our password.  Somehow by doing this, the name of the site has changed so that there now ftp: / / in front of it.  I can't access my files.  When I go on manage sites, the name is displayed, for example, ftp://nettie.  When I click edit, it appears correctly as nettie.  How can I get rid of the ftp: / / in the sites of manage?

In this case, I refer you to this thread

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/852556?TSTART=0

"As a proposition, have you clicked on Manage Sites > New > FTP & RDS NewSite to create a new site? If so, delete this definition in the dialogue for managing Sites.

Then select Manage Sites > New > new Site option instead, and you will get the options local and remote again. »

  • Site Recovery Manager

If I use Site Recovery Manager, do I need to configure the switch distributed on the DR site if the virtual machines on the production site are already using the distributed switch.

If the server vCenter Server and the server itself uses its own domain (not joined in the AD/vsphere.local), can I install RS and configure it or vCenter Server and the server should be attached to the RFA?

    See the answers online:

If I use Site Recovery Manager, do I need to configure the switch distributed on the DR site if the virtual machines on the production site are already using the distributed switch. -No, RS can operate with different types of switches in the two sites.

If the server vCenter Server and the server itself uses its own domain (not joined in the AD/vsphere.local), can I install RS and configure it or vCenter Server and the server should be attached to the RFA? -Yes, SRM should not belong to the same AD (or a domain) on both sites. I would recommend if you use vC 6 to connect the two private security companies in the same field of SSO. Keep in mind this is completely separate from areas AD.
