For the last two days, the "lock" symbol was flicker on and out, even when the switch is moved to the off position. I went to put it on today and it wouldn't respond. I plugged my headphones and the screen lit to show me the lock symbol was done again. I tried to reset the iPod, tried to restore and toggled the switch locking on and off tension several times but nothing does. I think I just need to take it into Apple and see if they can fix it or if I need to go and resign myself to the idea that I need to invest in a new iPod. Any ideas?

  Looks like you might need a new headphone jack and hold together switch. You could do it yourself or use a third party service center.
