Is Adobe Reader safe to use now, or do we have a fraudulent message?

Last week we received a message allegedly from Adobe. He appeared onscreen in a wide range BEFORE we went online in our website to email, so he didn't come through our usual yahoo channels. He warned that Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76, Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4 (and all previous programs) have been seriously wrong and there was evidence that Flash Player has been let by attackers. He said that the computer would crash and that's where they have the opportunity. Well our computer had crashed just before that and once since. He also recommended removing all affected Adobe kit and it relacing with updated versions.

We checked our Flash drive which was 10.0.45.2. -clearly older than the last. He recommended download of Flash Player 10.1.85.3. However when we have erased our Flash Player and asked the last update he only gave us 10.0.45.2 new! Why? (We have subscribed to the free package.)

However, it is somewhat irrelevant as this is the reader Forum. Whats important to say here is that currently, we withdrew ALL our kit from Adobe for fear it is unsecure: Flash Player, Reader and the plug-in.

My question to the reader is: is Adobe Reader 9.3.4 safe to use now? I contacted a colleague, who said hes only got Reader 9.1 on her, so if this message is true, then it is affected as well. Can anyone confirm if this message was from Adobe? What it na not go via yahoo, we have a record of it once we turned off, but assumed it was authentic, as Adobe usually comes to us this way. But we are reluctant to come back if it means trouble. Our computer is quite modern, uses windows and usually go us through Firefox.
