Is it possible to copy an installation from a USB disc?

How to take a Setup for any program disk and copy its contents to a USB port so that it becomes a USB facility?  In other words, can you do a USB install program that comes on a disk?

Edit: if it was a purchased CD which is protected against copying?  And every CD you buy protected against copying?

Copy and paste all the files to USB.  Right click on the actual Setup.exe and choosing the option "Run As Administrator"?  Perform, even if your user name is an administrator.  If there is no Setup.exe, click the .msi file and follow the prompts.

It may be necessary to show both hidden and system files and also uncheck 'Hide known file types' in Control Panel / folder Options / discovers, for access to, or see, the mentioned files and their file types (extensions).

Auto connecting USB is not readily available due to security issues, so it will be manual installs.

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\AutoPlay include other options that are available to you.

    Hello

How to make a backup of files:

Go to the file/s you want to put (Documents, music, Photos, etc. in Windows Explorer) > right click on it/them > hover over send it to the mouse cursor > select external hard drive or Memory Stick that you plugged them to save.

  • Is it possible to buy the installation for Windows XP discs?

I currently have an old desktop computer that is really slow.  I would like to upgrade my desktop computer, but do not want Windows Vista or Windows 7.  The majority of the software I have on my computer is not compatible with these operating units.  I don't want to have to buy all new software, just because I wanted to speed up my computer.  I was wondering if it is possible to buy for Windows XP installation discs, or is it possible to spin discs in Windows XP that came with my old computer to a new computer?  I saw the post on the Windows XP installation from diskettes.  I don't have a floppy drive, CD will work very well.  I'm just trying to understand what my options are.  I contacted Dell and discovered that if I want to order a new office with Windows XP, I'll pay a little more for the computer.

    See the Tech Geek response.

However, to directly answer your question, (a) well that installation of Windows XP CD are available for different sources on the Internet, it can be difficult to tell what you buy in fact and whether or not it is legitimate and (b) under Windows XP CD you have now, you may or may not be able to use them to install XP on a new computer.  In addition, there is no guarantee that there will be Windows XP drivers for all hardware on a brand new computer.

If by following the advice of Tech Geek, you cannot get your current running almost as well as he did when it was new, the best (and probably cheaper) option is to buy a new computer with Windows 7 installed.  Unless you use some small markets proprietary software applications, you may be surprised to learn that the software you have now, in fact, will work on Windows 7.

For example, you can get a Dell low end computer with a Core i3-2120 (3.3 GHz) processor and 4 GB of RAM with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit for $429.  If you really must use XP for your applications, you can switch to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (which supports XP Mode) for an additional $ 70.

Compare the above to the price of a 'full' (i.e., not upgrade) version of XP Home to $249.95 (Yes, you can get it cheaper if you are careful about what you buy).

Of course, if you find yourself either do a clean installation of Windows XP (whether on your existing computer) or another or if you buy a new Windows 7 computer, you need the keys to media and product installation for all of your applications.

  • How is it possible to copy a playlist on a USB?

My new car audio system has a USB port and is supposed to be able to play music from a USB 'peripheral '. So, I try to understand how to copy a mix of songs on a USB key. I made a playlist with songs in the order I want. Then I copied the files on the disk. I tried in my car, but it does not seem to recognize the drive. I tried to export the playlist, but all this did was to create a text file.

I could just burn songs to a CD, but CD is not very good. I want songs much more than that and don't want to have to keep changing CD. So, how can I make a playlist that is playable from a USB?

    Hi Tech Mom,

If you copy and paste a file or folder, it does not get deleted in the source location. It gets deleted in the source location when you cut and paste the file or folder. The article below explains how to copy and paste a file or folder.

First, look in the Recycle Bin. If they aren't there, read
    below:

"Deleting" a file does not actually delete it marks just the space
also available to be used. There are third-party programs that can
sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by
the file is likely to be replaced very quickly, and it makes
    the unrecoverable file.

So your chances of successfully recover this file are decent if you
Try it again immediately after the deletion of it and go quickly
downhill from there. If you have used the computer since then (for
example to write this question and read this answer), your chances may
    be very poor now.

But if the file is large enough, it's still worth a try. Stop
using the computer in question immediately, if you have not done
already. Download an undelete program (here, it's a good thing):
http://www.Piriform.com/Recuva but there are many others choose
of; Do a search) on a friend's computer (do not on yours since)
which may overwrite the files you want to restore) and bring it to
your on a CD or thumb drive to try.

If that fails, your only recourse is to bring or send the disc
a company of professional file recovery. This kind of service is very
expensive and may or may not work in your case.

I have windows 7 ultimate works correctly. I want to install windows 7 arc gamer edition. I m using the new copy to install from dvd, he is well until the installation of the updates but the installation finished, it displays error windows could not update the configuration to start the computer.  not installing and it rolls supports everything. Please help me solve this problem

original title: windows 7 gamer edition

Download of software on these sites can be very risky, because the origin of the files are usually edited and its quite possible that they could have injected malicious code in it.

Windows 7 Gamer edition is not a developed Microsoft or affiliated with the product, what appears to be a customized image of Windows 7 that authors customized to remove or add Windows components, which can also be very problematic.

You use something that no one can help you consider he has probably been reverse engineered and probably injected by a malicious code like spyware (keyloggers, rootkits, worms, viruses). I suggest you stick to Windows 7 Ultimate, this is the most complete edition of Windows 7, anyone can have.

To the file copy stage of the registry would be game.  It could be a permissions issue, you could mount the drive in a different Windows NT installation type and set the permissions.

  • Copy the Contacts from Vista to Windows 7 Contacts Possible?

I have a new desktop under Windows 7 Home Premium. Before the death of my old desktop (Vista 32 Home Premium), I was able to copy my Contacts folder to a backup drive. Is Vista comes in contact with the same type of file as Windows 7 contacts? Is it possible to copy contacts from Vista to Windows 7 contacts folder? If this is not the case, how would I go about importing the contacts? Thank you!

    Hi Fallstar,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

You can import the information book or contact address of several formats used by other programs, convert them for use in this version of Windows and store them in your Contacts folder. You can also convert your contacts to other formats by exporting. Allows you to share them with people who use an earlier version of Windows or a different operating system.

However, you must download Windows Live Mail in order to perform the steps listed in method 1. To download windows live mail on windows 7 click on the link below.

    Windows Live Mail

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=56883de5-2024-4631-806e-757693072a1c#requirements

After installing windows live mail follow method 1.

    Method 1:

Follow the steps mentioned below to import contacts.

    1. open Windows Contacts by clicking on the button start then on your user name. Type of contacts in the address bar and press ENTER.

    2. on the toolbar, click Import, and then click one of the following formats to import contacts from:

o CSV (Comma Separated Values). It is a format of generic file used to export and import information to and from databases or spreadsheets. If you can't import an address book file directly into Windows Contacts, try everything first convert to a CSV file and then import this file.

o LDIF (LDAP server). This format is used to import information from LDAP directory servers directory.

o vCard (VCF file). This is the most widely used contacts format.

o the Windows address book file (Outlook Express contacts). This format (.wab file) is used by most earlier versions of Windows, including Windows XP.

    3. click on import, locate the contacts file you want to import, and then click Open. The new contacts should appear in your Contacts folder.

If you can't find the contacts file you want to import, see the documentation provided with the program that created the contacts or visit the manufacturer's website. You will need to export contacts from the program before you can import them into Windows Contacts.

    4. when a message appears telling you that the contacts import process has completed, click OK and then click Close.

For more information, see the article mentioned below.

Import, export, or change the format for contacts

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/import-export-or-change-the-format-for-contacts

    Or follow method 2.

    Method 2:

    1. in Vista, navigate to the folder C:\Users\(user name) \Contacts , and then copy all your contacts and groups of contacts to something (ex: DVD, USB drive, etc.) to copy in Windows 7.

(2 in Windows 7, copy the Vista contacts and groups of contacts in the folder C:\Users\(user name) \Contacts .

    Hope this information is useful.

    Thanks and regards.

  • Possible to copy changes from one catalog to another

I upgraded the LR5 LR6 to, and when installing LR6 does not recognize that lr5 has been installed, then it has not deleted.  I played a bit in 6 for a while, then came back later to do some editing LR5 and accidentally started instead of LR6. My photos are present in both versions, but the changes I did only appear in the LR5.  Is it possible to copy or transfer these changes to the LR5 LR6 catalog catalog?  I'm on Win7 Pro 64 bit if that's important.

    Thanks for any help.

I found the solution myself.  I used the "Import from another catalog" feature on the file menu, as described hereand specified my LR5 catalogue than the catalog to import from.  Because the LR5 catalogue comes from an earlier version of LR, it prompted me to update before you import it.  I chose to «Throw up to level after importation of the catalog»  Once the upgrade has completed, I selected the photos I wanted to import, and in the area of News Photos for "manipulation of file:" I said «don't import new photos»  In existing Photos area changed to "replace:" I said ' metadata settings and develop only ", and just to be sure, I checked the box"keep old settings as a virtual copy.  It worked perfectly.
