Is it wise to move to Mountain Lion?

Hello

I have a little old Macbook Pro (late 2008) with Snow Leopard (10.6.8). The computer works normally fine but I am worried about the problems of security and internet browsers etc. will be is more updated. Also the synchronization with other devices is a problem.

I have Adobe CS4 and Microsoft Office 2008 programs and I am concerned about their compatibility with the latest OS X systems.

It is: which OSX should I upgrade? It seems that I have to choose either Mountain Lion (10.8.) or El Capitan (10.11) such as Mavericks or Yosemite are no longer available.

Can someone help and tell if it is wise to go to Mountain Lion, at this point?

Thank you.

Unless you bought the Cougar from the App Store when it was available, you can only change it to El Capitan. You can see on the compatibility of the software here: App - RoaringApps compatibility table. Maybe you should look at a new computer.

  • Win 7 Boot camp on Mountain Lion. Upgrade to Mac OS Sierra destroy boot camp?

    HI people,

been my mid 2010 MacBook Pro OSX lion mountain for a long time. I have a boot camp partition installed with windows 7.

I need to work from home.

I recently got an iPhone 7 and it requires iTunes 12.5, which is not supported by mountain lion so I can't restore the backup of phone of my iPhone 5 to the new phone.

MY internet connection is shocking to iCloud backups will take forever to download then.

So if I decide to move on Cougar to macos Sierra so I can install the correct iTunes to my new iPhone version and thus keep all my old applications and data, will it trash my installation of boot camp windows 7?

    Thanks guys,.

  • Update of Mountain Lion with server at El Capitan with server

In my view, that it's time to upgrade my server Mountain Lion at El Capitan.  I am under some Web sites on the server (WordPress and ZenCart), and I'm managing e-mail for a few areas.  This is a hobby - so if I run into any kind of problems, then staring at me forever.

I use the server to manage several domains, some websites (wordpress and zencart) and e-mail for a few areas.  Is there someone who can asure me that an upgrade will not stop one of my sites/e-mail from accessible summer and that an upgrade is really simple:

I don't think that a single SA will give you such insurance. There are simply too many unknowns in your equation.

A few questions that I would be:

    1. Where are your plans backup and restore?
    2. The backups have been verified? Have the hardware and other software were mapped for compatibility?
    3. Have you prepared for a recovery after disaster?
    4. What does your schedule look like?
    5. If your clients have been informed, and did you get their buy-in to the schedule planned downtime and one time the program installation or recovery?
    6. What your relief and the secondary standby solution look like?
    7. What makes it look like your hardware failure recovery plan as it is in place? More relevant would be your standby HD, on which I would clone the server for immediate system recovery.

These aren't all, but only a few pertinent questions.

Most SA engineers system will tell you that nothing is comparable to moments of sheer terror when they progress through the processes and procedures of a server upgrade, whether hardware or software. The latter is the worst, only comparable to the terror of a student pilot experienced on his first simulated emergency landing, frozen stiff out of pure terror on short final.

  • After upgrading to MAC Mountain Lion, the drivers for my HP C4680 were removed (accidentlly)

    Hello

First of all, make sure you restart your Mac, and then try to add the printer again.

If it persists, ensure that the USB port directly connected to your Mac and not via a USB hub or extention.

Ensure that the USB is not longer than 2 m and check to see if that can help you.

Also, if you have an iMac, be sure to plug the USB in the port at the back of the Mac and not in the Apple keyboard, which is not powered.

Also, try to reset the printing system, then try to add the printer and check any changes:

    * Be aware that reset the printer system will eliminate any existing queue and reset all custom settings driver.

Click on the Apple menu and then click on System Preferences.
    Select Print & Scan.
Right click (or Ctrl + click) your product with the Printers list in the left panel and then click on reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user name and password.
Click OK. The printing system resets.

Now, click on the Plus sign and try to re-adding the printer.

If none of the steps above does not lead to any progress, go to the library and place the HP folder to the trash.

Enter PPD\Contents\Resources, search for C4600 and move the files to the trash, then try to add the printer again.

    Hope that helps,

    Shlomi

  • Full-screen Fusion VM and Mountain Lion

After the update to Lion mountains (running Fusion 4.1.3), I was unable to run my Windows 7 VM in full screen mode and use the two forms.

What seems to happen is that Fusion moves to the main screen to a second space, but the background on the secondary display is the canvas on the second screen.

I uninstalled and reinstalled VMware tools and tried sharing my primary/secondary displays on Mac OS.

If I look into the mission control, the secondary display is placed on 1 desktop instead of space that creates the merger.

  • Stage/timeline extremely slow under Mountain Lion

    Hi all

I'm having this problem with Flash CS6 on OSX Mountain Lion. Almost all of the actions of the program is slow. Things like select/move anything something onstage, something by selecting in the liberary Panel, by clicking the buttons on any editor Panel and scrub the timeline. Even using the menu bar of the Mac in Flash is slow. The slowest thing is reading the timeline Editor, it becomes so slow that it often crashes the application:

    http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/219/0/b/screen_shot_2012_08_06_at_5_31_28_pm_by_nitrouspony-d5a6yik.png

Even if all this happens, other applications works perfectly well. Flash is not take more RAM or CPU that it usually is (except when it was broken) and I only have this problem after the update to Lion Mountian, Lion, everything was fine. SWF file publishing and reading have no problem whatsoever. The same exact problems are still performing Flash CS5.5. I am a member of the Adobe Creative cloud and all the other apps I've tried work perfectly. I also tried Flash CS6 in Windows on the same machine and that works as it should. This problem has also consists not only my .fla of the existing projects, but also brand new with absolutely nothing in the liberary or stage.

I have an Early 2011 13 - inch Macbook Pro with an upgrade to 2.5 GHz i5 and 8 GB of RAM. I also have the 32-bit version of Flash CS6 and CS5.5 and OS of course, 10.8

I have a Windows Bootcamp, so I can continue to work, but the restart is successful in my workflow, so I intend to use my backup of the Lion. But before that, I want to try and solve this problem.

Thanks to those who read this! I hope I can solve this problem.

I had a similar experience. It turned out that the problem was a trial version of TextExpander. I've disabled TextExpander and removed from the computer and Flash back to normal. Flash uses a lot of system resources and any problematic application causes Flash to function strangely.

Look at other applications you have running. One of them could be the cause of problems with Flash.

  • Bootable USB Stick - El Capitan/Mountain Lion

Using a MacBook running El Capitan, can I create a bootable USB key to run Cougar?

Unless you've downloaded the OS X App Store before the publication of the Mavericks Mountain Lion, your only option is a purchase ($20USD) Cougar via the Apple store online. Once you have downloaded the OS X App Store ML using this purchase key, you can then run DiskmakerX top to make a USB bootable (8 GB min).

The current (5.0.3) of DiskMaker X version only works with the Mavericks, Yosemite and El Capitan. Mountain Lion, to the 3.0.4 version on the developers site. It provides a direct download link to it. I don't know if this old X DiskMaker work on El Capitan.

    Hello

Today I bought an iMac of 2006, I came with an empty hard disk, when I start I up he invites me to re - install Mountain Lion.

In any case, I followed the steps agree to the terms, etc. And then when I get to the screen telling you to select the disc to install Mac OS X on, I select the drive then it tells you to do this for you connect to your Apple ID, then I comes up with: this element is temporary unavailable please try late agan. And won't let me go any futher.

Apple is not the Cougar on their servers host more or is the computer?

    Just reply to me ASAP

    Thank you

Your identifier Apple never bought Mountain Lion, so you can't install it.

You can buy a DVD of Snow Leopard from Apple and buy a code thus avoiding lion to be used in the App Store.

  • Transfer photos after downgrading to El Capitan in Mountain Lion

I upgraded my Mac Book Pro (mid2009) to El Capitan about 6 months ago. It was horrible and my computer is slower than molasses. I tried to work with it, the best that I could, because I did not save my system before the upgrade. #badmove Finally, I backed up the weekend last and erased the hard drive. Go to the Apple Store today, that they returned to Mountain Lion and it's much better. My problem is that some of my apps (like iPhoto) will not now transfer because she has been saved with the new version of El Capitan.  It is a way to always transfer my photos?

You have a copy of iPhoto that works with 10.8?

You can try to select the iPhoto library, then control - click/view the contents of the package. Do drag the photos on your desktop and then import them into iPhoto.
