  MBP, in early 2008, El Capitan 10.11.2...

  My Samsung Portable Blu - ray writer, SE-506CB/RSBD Monte is more after I upgraded to El Capitan, last week.  The drive itself is only a few months old.

  The problem is not the USB ports, like other devices work fine with all the USB ports on my MBP.

  Note that I'm NOT trying to read or write a Blu - ray disc.  I try only to play audio CDs, I've done successfully before the upgrade to El Capitan.

  For what it's worth, I have this problem as well.  The drive tray would not eject even with a single cable, so I switched to another.  I could then open the drawer (seems odd for me) but the disc would not rise.  Here's the info from the console log that indicates that the operating system is getting bad feedback from the pilot saying that the disk is defective.  This same drive/cable/disc work very well on my MacBook Air 10.10.5 and had worked perfectly well with this MBP even before the service (and "free" upgrade to EC by Apple).

  On the advice of the Apple support (phone call) I recently upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan 10.11.6.

  I have many problems. The two largest are (1) stands (2016) Outlook and frequently "must be closed; (2) calendars quickly goes to "not responding" after the launch and shows multiple entries for a single event. Example: I have a class to repeat each week (when I was in Yosemite). Before the upgrade, he showed the event once a week. After the upgrade, it it shows 13452 times the same day.   Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I have a problem with your MacBook Air use after update is not what you expect. Based on what you said, it seems you can experience some software related issues, and here's how I recommend refine you and resolve these issues:

  1. first of all, try to run a quick with the disk utility tool test, as this can correct simple problems that you encounter. Then restart normally and retest your problems.

  Disk utility (El Capitan): a disc repair

  2. use Mode without fail to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, remove files from the system cache, check your startup disk and trying to fix problems if necessary directory. Test mode safe questions, then restart normally and test again.

  Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning
  Graphics performance limited in recovery of OS X or in safe mode

  3. you can find out if unexpected behavior is related to the user file or a parameter in trying to reproduce the problem to a different user account. This process includes creating a new user account, connect to it and test for the issue.

      back from Macintosh HD entry of the list on the left.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the operation

      ends, then quit disk utility and back to the main menu.

  4 reinstall OS X: restart from HD recovery Select reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, then click on the continue button.

  Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than wireless.

  I just upgraded to El Capitan Yosemite on my iMac, so I can't find my bootcamp. I tried to do with lonely T instructions, but yet, I think I did something wrong (not very tech savvy just follow the instructions). Bootcamp volume appears in the finder and accessible but non-startup disk. Protection of the integrity of the system has been disable by running csrutil the command disable on recovery mode. I need help!

  additional notes: I have an extra partition named Extra, and I went through the same process using gdisk when I added the partition when using Yosemite. He works at this time, but not now after El Capitan upgrade.

  And I realize that I don't have "No CoreStorage groups of logical volumes found".

  Please enter 'p' to the list of files in the last Data MS and after the release. What does the 'Extra' on your Mac partition? Do you have 'lost' Windows when you created "Extra"?

  My Iphoto now has a line through it, on the list of the app.  It does not level!  Said is no longer available or I returned or cancelled - which I have not done!

When troubleshooting a problem with my backup software (3rd party), I realized that all my system connects (system.log) date of the day I did my upgrade to El Capitan, but not before. This means that when I did the upgrade of the El Capitan, I lost all my previous logs?

  Just call Apple who confirmed that with each major release, newspapers have wiped and begin to clean.

  AutoSave/Versions has been part of Mac OS X Lion. See these instructions. Save As will be in its normal position in all applications, and when you close the documents, you will be asked if you want to return (same result as the old do not save).

  Versions and AutoSave will always run in background for the applications that use it. You can't really turn off without disrupting some application menus, but it's been at least OS X behave more like Snow Leopard or earlier version.
