It presents a scam?

I received a phone call from a lady talking about forerign and I asked him to transfer me to someone that I could better understand. This guy was named Calvin Watson who was she tranfered me, he told me he was Asian, and their society was Delaware. He took me through a whole process to show me all the viruses on my computer. I have authorized him to remote control of my computer as well. Not show even if it has been disconnected from my computer at the end of the call. He then told me that they had anti-virus software that will erase the virus for $270.00 for a lifetime for two computers. I was buying but by credit card he refused because it was an international purchase. For my protection. Is it a scam? Can I pay for the service? The Web site for the antivirus software has been www.helpdesk4pc.com.

I would strongly encourage you to get and run MBAM (as I indicated above).

And to ensure that your Norton Security is up to date and do a full scan with it.

Remote access is on a case by case basis and you have agreed to it.

I advise to follow the 2 scans above with a free visit to a forum specializing in the removal of malware, so you can get the review of your system. It's all free and done through the internet using your browser.

First of all make sure that you have done the 2 scans (hopefully all clean) & Save.

My sister in the United States bought 2 iPhones (one for itself) and one for me. She we me shipped in India (sim free iphone), after a while my iPhone starts giving trouble that was sent to me. So I sent it to him. She wanted to replace, so she looked up a number of apple care and discovered the following mentioned repeatedly and addressed the issue with apple support management and he said that both phones will not work in India because it is not factory unlocked. He said that apple will replace these two phones with factory unlocked ones. I have to provide a deposit, and apple will send me two phones that will be factory unlocked. When I go back to my old two phones, the security deposit will be refunded. So she bought the iTunes gift card and shared the details with him. But phones were not delivered in time, she returned to the same survey number which becomes unavailable, so she contacted on another number of apple support, then they said they have not received any request from her and told her that she had been deceived by a fraudster and it was a scam.

Now the apple say that they are sorry for the loss of his money and they can do whatever it is in the present. Customer care people do not answer until she reminded them repeatedly and the lady who finally gathered his disconnected the call between the two. It's pure not meaning, people are deceived by using the Apple name and they are not bothered on this subject and they say sorry for it. Then she wrote to the care of apple with all the details and now they say they will study the issue.

I think Apple should look into this issue seriously as a fake apple support page (replica) opens on the first link and fraudsters are deceiving the people. It is a serious matter. How a person know that if he's talking to a direction of apple support authentic.

Here are the details of the e-mail and telephone numbers which have been used by this fraudster: (CAN ALL ONE please SUGGEST ON HOW to FILE A COMPLAINT CYBER CRIME CELL AND THE PROCESS AND GET the MONEY BACK)

Difficulty of pop-ups in browser that support Safari.

Common pop - ups include a message saying that the Government has taken over your computer and you pay release (often called "Moneypak"), or a false message saying that your computer has been infected and you need to call a number of tech support (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it to be resolved. First of all, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and that your computer has not been assigned. This "hack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so don't pay not money, call number, or provide personal information. This article will give an overview of the solution to remove the pop-up window.

    Quit Safari

Usually, these pop-ups will not go by clicking 'OK' or 'Cancel '. In addition, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in grey, including the option to leave Safari. You'll probably force quit Safari. To do this, press command + option + ESC, select Safari, press on force quit.

    Relaunch Safari

If you restart Safari, the page will reopen. To avoid this, hold the "Shift" key when opening Safari. This will prevent windows since the last time that Safari was running since the reopening.

It will not work in all cases. The SHIFT key must be maintained at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window is displayed again. In these circumstances, after force quit Safari, turn off Wi - Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then restart Safari normally. He'll try to reload the malicious Web page, but without a connection, it will not be able to. Leave this page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com and try to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet and the page that you entered is displayed rather than the malicious.

  • My dad fell for a scam of pop up allowing access to its iMac... What should I do now?

My old father just bought a new iMac 3 weeks after the death of his previous mac of 10 years ago.  He is not very computer and had a time with the learning curve.

Yesterday, while online, he fell for one of those notices of popups indicating that his computer was 'at risk' - he called the phone # & handed her credit card information...  Immediately, they have had access, has taken control of his computer and downloaded something while he was on the phone with him.  That scared him and he stopped.

He called the credit card company to refuse the $50 fee that had been immediately posted on his account.  I fear however, that some sort of malicious software have been installed and maybe they have access to his personal information and passwords, etc.  He doesn't know who he talked to, or what has been downloaded...

What needs to be done to identify and remove what has been installed?  I don't want him being a victim of identity theft.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

First of all, have the card cancelled and have the Bank to launch a new. Change all passwords. Tell him that never to do that again.

  • GeekBuddy, complete a SCAM!

I have heavily been deceived by them on behalf of Apple Support. It was just yesterday that a message posted on my Mac asked me to compose a TFN to Apple Support. Completely amazed at what is going on, I tried to escape but was limited to. Devoid of any option, I dialed the number and was diverted to GeekBuddy. The technician who had the line presented in front of me a number of problems that I never knew, until here. He said that $ 200 could save my Mac. If she does not seem ridiculous! How is it a system that worked perfectly be about to get totally damaged. Still, having been afraid I paid $ 200 according to the request, but I think that I was completely wrong. Coz at the moment where I transferred the money, that everything was identical to the front. My experience tells that GeekBuddy is a complete SCAM! Can someone offer you please how to recover money they have committed fraudulently to me?

This kind of message popup will always be a scam. Never answer these scare tactics. For future reference: Force Quit Safari, the. restart Safari while holding down the SHIFT key.

If you allowed criminals to access your computer, you must consider this compromise and restore a backup prior to the scam.

  • Received a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, it is a call or a scam?

    Hi all

I live in Switzerland, but am British and a mac user (no groans please) although I Mac office installed.
In any case, tonight I received a call from an Asian woman of this phone number 00441865600154, the 1st time, I pressed the wrong button and cut them but they were recalled to work and she said she was from MS and my computer downloaded hacking software and had it flashed an alert at Microsoft. The line was very very bad and I've been cut called the number back and I just domestic type normal BT mail voice... scam or real?
MS have the ability to track these things, and how they know my phone number to the House Switzerland?

I am a little freaked by the present, any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a scam, Microsoft does not call for end-users, because I don't think that they follow everyone. All calls more like this contempt please and offer the information for them. Total scam.

They probably bought a list of phone numbers from somewhere or they get telephone directories in Europe. Not too sure about all other methods. That would be my guess.

    I hope this helps.

    Jim

  • Error report followed closely by scam phone call.__04 June 2010

Error followed by phone call report scam. (£79 for a new Microsoft license request). I'm in the United Kingdom.

    June 4, 2010

I, also, have just received a phone call from scam shortly after the presentation of a microsoft error report. The appellant was Asian, as if the others were and he claimed he was from Microsoft. I had downloaded a rogue file that was causing my computer works more slowly and asked me to click on the Start button and open the "run" command, he said. He asked me to type "eventvwr", this brought an observer called window events. He asked me to click on the app and got my attention to the error and warning symbols in the open list. He then asked me to click on system and see the symbols contained in this list. He then said he would connect on a technician who would correct the mistakes on my computer but my license has expired and I had to buy another before PayPal mistakes could be corrected. He quoted £79 when asked. He would tell me how to send money via Paypal when I told him that I wasn't going to send money to anyone. I said, 'as far as I know, you could be a criminal trying to pull a scam. "Anyone can phone up and say these things."  Oops, I had caught. "YOU CALL ME A CRIMINAL. "Well WELL YOU GO COME AND PASS 200 lbs ON A TECHNINICIAN BLAH, BLAH RANT, rant", and then he slammed the phone down. There, he, he. ****.

    Hello

It seems that you had a telemarketing call or what we call a call of the scam. Do not provide a personal information in your.

If you are in the United Kingdom and the appellant made an offer to help a royalty payment, you should contact the national fraud authority.  Details are on their website at:http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/

The NFA has pledged to track down and eliminate these criminals, but they need all the help they can get to identify scams, if they do not speak that they can act.

If you can at least get a website URL, which could be useful in a report.

Avoid scams that use the Microsoft name fraudulently

Cybercriminals often use the names of well-known companies, such as ours, in their scams. They think it will convince you to give them money or your personal information. While they usually use email to deceive you, they sometimes use the phone instead.

Common scams that use the Microsoft name

    • A person of "Microsoft Support" calls to fix your computer
    • "You have won the Microsoft Lottery"
    • Microsoft "requires credit card information to validate your copy of Windows.
    • "Microsoft" send unsolicited e-mail with attached security updates

    Avoid these dangerous hoaxes

We do not send unsolicited e-mail messages or make phone calls unsolicited request personal or financial information or repair your computer.

If you receive an unsolicited e-mail or phone call which is supposed to be from Microsoft, and request that you send personal information or click on the links, delete the message or hang up the phone.

Microsoft has none of the unsolicited telephone calls to help you fix your computer

In this type of scam cybercriminals are calling you and claim to be of Support technique Microsoft. They offer help with your computer problems. Once scammers have earned your trust, they try to steal and damage your computer with malicious software, including viruses and spyware.

Although the law enforcement can trace phone numbers, often authors use pay telephones, disposable cell phones or stolen cellular phone numbers. Better avoid fooling themselves rather than try to repair the damage afterwards.

Treat all unsolicited sceptically telephone calls. Don't provide personal information.

If you receive an unsolicited call from someone who claims to be from Technical Support Microsoft, hang up. We do not have such calls.

If you think you might be a victim of fraud, you can report it. For more information, see: what to do if you think you've been scammed.

You did not win the "Microsoft Lottery".

Microsoft customers are often the target of a scam that uses messages falsely promise money. Victims receive messages saying 'You won the Microsoft Lottery!' There is no Microsoft Lottery. Delete the message.

If you have lost money to this scam, report it. You can also send the police report to Microsoft, and we will use it to help the security forces to catch criminals who send these e-mail messages.

To protect yourself against these e-mail hoaxes, you can use the same general orientation you use to protect yourself against phishing scams.

Microsoft do not ask for credit card information to validate your copy of Windows

We require that your copy of Windows is legitimate before you can obtain programs from the Microsoft Download Center or receive software updates from Microsoft Update. Our online process that performs this validation is called the Genuine Advantage Program. at no time during the validation process we request your credit card information.

In fact, we collect any information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, e-mail address or other personal information.

For more information, read the Microsoft Genuine software privacy statement program.

To learn more about the program in general, see Genuine Windows: frequently asked questions.

Microsoft sends no communication unsolicited on security updates

When we publish information about a security software update or security incident, we send e-mail messages only to subscribers of our security communication program.

Unfortunately, Cybercriminals have operated this program by sending fake security messages that appear to come from Microsoft. Hello

Much of the below are the same that the ball was suggested to use the others. If these also
do not detect malware, then you can be quite sure, as much as possible, only files
AVG found are false positives or if you have a program that pretends to be AVG which is not.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be harder to detect as
    the cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

  • Received call scam, let them connect to my computer was damaged to my PC?

Has been damaged to my PC?

I just got a phone call from an Asian-sounding guy who said he was from support.com windows. He gave me the address of the site to verify that it was legitimate. I explained that I used the basics of microsoft for the security of my pc. He asked me to go into different folders and ended up in the event viewer. He then asked me to use the filter, and he said that I had a large number of viruses in the present. He then asked me to access a website for remote access ammyy.com. What I did and then he said that he would remove my security but I said that I didn't change. He said new security and have deleted viruses would be £? (I don't remember) but that's what alarm bell rang for me and I didn't say thank you. He then said that he could remove the virus for another amount. Yet once, I said no. He closed the access remote, disconnected from my computer and hung up. I immediately ran a full scan and nothing suspicious has been identified.

    Please can you help me

    1. he could have done damage to my PC - do I need to do anything to protect?

    2. He would have no information from my PC?

    3. do I need to audit the "Event Viewer", as he says and delete the warning and error messages?

    4. I deleted the icon bottom right of my screen of pc ammyy.

I'm not particularly computer literate and feel so devoid of sense allow this person as much access as I did. Do I need to take action now?

Thank you for your help with this

There probably would have turned off anything to do with the error report. So, if everything has failed, it wouldn't connect the error/s.

No doubt would have taken information. Their intention is probably (to charge you for nothing). Everything they do is disable services and stuff from your system to the top.

Check out my sister in Australia was sucked into this type of scam. And paid $250 AU. I logged into his system after with teamviewer to fix.

And they have disabled the services to do with the error report. The task manager would not work (because a service has been disabled)

Don't worry all that is in the event viewer. The system works.

Contact your local police and tell them about this

  • More information about the "Windows + r" scam

Thanks to everyone for this discussion.  Very useful.

I received the call from the scam yesterday; sounded plausible semi because I had recently presented an MS error report, as well as the scammer had my name and my number.  OK, I was not awake, either.  I follow the 2 steps to the "Run" dialog box  Enter "cmd", and then the event history.  Then I woke up and disconnected, so I think I'm safe.

My question is, how in the world this crook has my name, phone number, AND the software license number (he read off to me when I used the entry 'cmd')?

    Thank you for any clarification.

    HD

Scammers are good at what they do.  You name & phone number could be from any source data extraction.  Enter orders that there you probably were for the product number that is the same for all users of win 7 (once again a good guess)

If you can tell us the orders he had you enter we can give you more information.

  • West yorkshire police scam has locked up my files

My laptop recently got a trojan virus. I don't know how, but my screen is stuck on a 'West Yorkshire Police' caveat that said if I paid a fine it would be unlocked. I managed to download a software anti malaware which removed the virus and everything seems fine some word documents and web pages, I saved that are locked.  In addition, the laptop will allow a system restore. Help, please! I need to use my laptop for uni at the mo and must repair as soon as possible

  • Dell audit scam?

I was approached by an employee of 'dell' [email protected] he asked me to verify that I'm the one who ordered the order of the day, he asked my driver's license or a passport (even though I gave him the address to which the order was to be sent to) then he said I'll cancel it without the license drivers. What! Why would a dell employee need a pilots license clients? I suspected this as a scam, so I immediately called him as a crook that he rΘpondit not come back, but with a message saying missing (really?)

Questions: 1) is a true employee/staff 2: fact I just you're not ripped off by my address? 3: if it's actually not a scam I need another person to contact me about my order and not to cancel it.  I need answers as soon as possible I get really worried

    Hi Apricotgoodness,

Thanks for posting and thank you to beware of suspicious e-mails.

Raghavendra_E_V is a Dell employee and works in our fraud division.  It would be good to verify your account with him.  I wonder many times to prove proof of identity fantasies I present my credit card in outlets at retail, is a common form of verification.
