Unfortunately, with Win10, you get updates of driver installed without your knowledge and without your consent.  Win10 forums are riddled with people whose machines to work, but now they are no more - and when it is investigated to determine why, more often than otherwise, it is a new driver from Microsoft Update.

If you can, you should see if you can restore the drivers that are causing the problem.  And if this resolves the problem, then disable future driver updates by using the information in the link: http://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninstall-and-block-updates-and-drivers-on-windows-10/

It's the second time this has happened to me
However the last time a system restore solved the problem, this time restore system did not work.

I can use my keyboard at startup and in safe mode, but that's all.
I am currently using a USB keyboard and a mouse.

I tried almost all the suggestions with no joy. Help, please.

    Hello

There are not many options that could solve this problem.
It can be a hardware software or related issue.

You can use the internal keyboard in the BIOS?
    Select this check box.
If this is not possible, I guess that the hardware is defective.

Also I recommend that you test the keyboard and the touchpad using factory settings.
Grab the laptop and check if the keyboard would serve. Otherwise you will need a help of a technician for laptop to replace the keyboard and the touchpad

    =========================================

It's my generic how updates of appropriate driver: you mainly want to update or reinstall the touchpad drivers
and ALSO to get the Toshiba value added Package for your version IF it is there.

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
    manually if you wish.

  • Satellite A350 - Touchpad does not work, but an external mouse works

What should I do? Don't you think it's hard or soft the problem. * The touchpad is NEVER worked.*

Thank you, and sorry for my bad English. :-(

    Hello!

The touchpad does appear in Device Manager or you have here yellow exclamation points?

Like Akuma says you can enable or disable the touchpad with FN + F9 key combination.
    Did you check that?

In the worst cases, you must go to an ASP. It seems to be a hardware malfunction, and this must be checked by a technician of the laptop. Here, you can search the nearest ASP:

  • My touchpad does not work well on Satellite C55-A-1ND

For several days my touchpad does not work well. It has nothing to do with the power touchpad button on the F5 key.

The touchpad is most time does not and something a bit but I can't use the touchpad at all now.

When I attach my external mouse on my laptop I can use my laptop otherwise I can't use my laptop.
I already rebooted my laptop several times, but it helps not at all.

I hope someone can help me!

You said that this issue has nothing to do with the touchpad on/off function s.
So what's exactly wrong with the touchpad? Is he disabled or enabled?

Have you checked the settings in the control panel-> mouse-> last (device settings) tab-> settings button?

Have you already tried to reinstall the software/driver for touchpad?
If this is not the case, do.

By the way: what model of laptop and what system you have?

  • Satellite L50-A013 - touchpad does not work

    Hi all

I've had my L50-A013 Satellite for about 7 months now.

In the last month or so I started to have problems with the touchpad, freezing and does not not my contact.
This lasted a few minutes at a time, then came the back of its own accord, almost like a very long latency period.
This morning, however, I turned on my laptop and the touchpad does not work.

Device Manager does not display a mouse or pointing device at all until I attach a mouse USB.
By pressing the key that normally activates / deactivates the touchpad does not work - nothing changes and the light does not turn on in both positions.

I tried reinstalling the drivers without result, and windows is no update that might help (or any recently that might have caused the problem).

If anyone has any other ideas for what I can try, it would be amazing.
The laptop is under warranty so I can hopefully get it fixed, but if possible I would really do not have to go without a computer until it's settled.

Thank you all for your time,
    -Sase

    Hi Sase

It is not easy to say what the problem is, but I can imagine that there is hardware problem. Perhaps touchpad loses the connection to the motherboard. I mean if this piece of hardware is not detected I can imagine this scenario.

Of course best test you can do now is to reinstall OS and test functionality with the factory settings, but will delete your actual configuration of OS and software pre-installed.

If this kind of test is possible do. If not, I think you must contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They have special diagnostic tools and they can check it for you.

  • Keyboard and touchpad do not work on Satellite C870-13F

I have a computer satellite C870-13th since August.

Yesterday for no apparent reason, my touchpad has stopped working. (no, I didn't turn off)
Not really bothered by it, I continued working on my computer for several hours.
Find it me so that he might be a little bug, so I decided to restart my computer.

When we turn back, not only my touchpad does not work, now nothing on my keyboard responded, not a single touch. I've updated the drivers, bios, done a virus scan, restored my computer for a few days before, nothing is.

The strange thing is that the keyboard is always when I press F1 or F8, 0, enter, and arrow keys to get into the menus before windows starts.

Help them, I used the toshiba recovery to restore the computer to factory settings.
Despite all this, keyboard and touchpad are still pending.
I don't really understand, because it works at startup may not be real materialistic damage!

Now, I'm getting frustrated cause I have more solutions and tapping the screen with the keyboard is really slow! = p

    Any help?

    Hello

I think that it s a bad material work because you have already tried the system recovery and the keyboard does not work even if you use the factory settings.

But it would be interesting to know if the USB external keyboard would serve. You can test this? In my opinion if the external keyboard would work properly, then it would mean that your keyboard is faulty and must be replaced.
I m wondering if the fault of the touchpad is related to failure of internal keyboard.

However, I think that the guarantee must still be valid if you bought this unit in August. Then get in touch with service and guys should fix it for free!

  • Touchpad does not work on Satellite C55-A-184

    My touchpad does not work...
I don't have a mouse to use to get the details of the driver etc.

    Can someone please help
    It is so boring.

I can't download the update of the driver as I'll have to use the kindle to find help,
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

    Thank you.

What happened exactly, or what exactly makes you in the past, until this problem happens?

First of all, please post some details on your laptop model and the system you are using.

Then check if your touchpad isn't disabled.
To enable or disable the touchpad, you can use the function key. It depends on the laptop model. Either use the FN + F9 (F9) or FN + F5 (F5)

In case this does not work you need to connect a USB mouse, just to be able to reinstall the driver for the touchpad, but to be honest, I t will think his problem of the touchpad driver.
