    Besides what abdelhak says:

The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.

    Hope this helps,

  • HP pavilion laptop computer does not start

When I turn on my laptop it does not start. It goes to a blue screen that indicates it should be repaired. Help please

    Hello

Error code 24 characters long drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the startup problem you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • keyboard acer aspire 5736z laptop computer does not

keyboard acer aspire 5736z laptop, windows 7 64 bit does not

    Hey Joe,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand from the description of the issue that you are having problems with the keyboard on Acer Aspire 5736Z. I'll be happy to help you with this problem.

    (1) what exactly happens when you try to use the keyboard?
    (2) you receive an error message?
    (3) have tried to check with external keyboard?

    Method 1:
Step 1: I suggest to start the computer using safe mode and check if the problem persists.
    What is safe mode?
If the issue is not persistent, then follow the steps in step 2 to find the cause of the same.

    Step 2: Clean Boot Mode
I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem still persists. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 3 of the boot link to configure the computer to normal startup mode.

Method 2: I suggest you to follow the steps to check with on the screen keyboard.
Type without using the keyboard (on-screen keyboard)

Method 3: It seems you accidentally locked your keyboard and touch pad by pressing the function key.
    (a) just press: FN + F6 to unlock the keyboard and the touchpad.

If the problem persists, I suggest you to contact Acer support for assistance.

I hope it helps. If you have problems in the future, please let us know. We will be happy to help you.
  • The internal keyboard BACKSPACE key does not work

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite and the BACKSPACE key does not work.

He will start work the rare opportunity, but then it just stops working again.
This happens on everything, including word and internet ect.

It has been like that for a few weeks now and I turned the laptop and turn off many times.
Is there a way to fix it myself or I send for repair?

    Please, * don't * tell me:
    Get an external keyboard
Try it turn on and off
Just highlight the words and use the delete key - it's annoying to have to do this all the time
Type carefully and do not make so many mistakes

    Thank you!

    > Please, don't tell me not to:
    > Get an external keyboard

And why shouldn't t someone recommends you to check the functionality using the external keyboard?

It s recommended to connect an external keyboard to verify how the BACKSPACE key would work using 2nd external keyboard. In case the back might work properly using USB keyboard, the question is very clear; in such cases its main shortcomings. The key cannot be replaced or changed or fixed. In this case, need to replace the entire keyboard!

In case the BACKSPACE key does not even using the external keyboard, then this would mean that the internal keyboard controller is faulty and in this case only the replacement motherboard would be useful.

But to be honest, I think that its simple keyboard failure and a replacement would solve this.

    Please help me,

    Jannon

    Hello Jannon,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

    1. What is the model number of your laptop Asus?
    2. what happens when you start your laptop? Does show any error message on the screen?
    3. you made any hardware or software changes on your computer before the show?

This problem may occur either if Windows startup files are corrupt or there is a hardware problem.

However, we will try to solve the problem of Windows operating system, at the present time.

I suggest you repair automatic by using the installation media and check if that helps.

You may need to contact the manufacturer of the computer to change the boot order of the computer.

You will need to change the boot for CD/DVD drive device in BIOS, and then start the computer using the Windows 8 installation disc.

    Please follow these steps:

    a. After inserting Windows 8 disc into the CD/DVD drive, you will receive a message "Press any key to boot from the DVD.

    b. in the "Windows Setup" dialog box, set the time and currency format, keyboard or input method and the language to install, then click "Next".

    c. click on "repair your computer". In "choose an option" screen, click "Troubleshooting."

    d. click on "Advanced Options" and then "auto repair".

    e. follow the instructions to complete auto repair.

You can create a Windows installation media using the suggestions in this article.
    Reference:
Create an installation media for Windows 8.1
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Note: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    I hope this information helps.

Simply answer the required information and let us know if you need more help.

    Thank you
