L20-182 PCMCIA satellite driver

Hello!
My problem is that I don't have the "TI 1410 v 5.1.2600.0 PCMCIA driver" for my laptop, so my Conceptronic C54RC wireless network card does not work. I have a driver for the pcmcia card, but when he's in the laptop there are no signals of life :)
Can someone help me on the location I can download from?
Thank you.

TC of HU

Hello Tomcat

PCMCIA slot you don't need any drivers and Toshiba does not. If you use the external device, you must install the driver you get with it. Please see the instructions facilities and all the information you will find on the Conceptronic support page.

Perhaps you need to install the driver first before putting the card in the slot. Sorry, buddy, but described problem has nothing to do with the laptop manufacturer. Check the Conceptronic support page. Maybe they have the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section where you can find useful tips.

    Hello

You are 100% sure it of a card WLan as an unknown device in the network controllers and not the LAN card?

    HELO :)

I'm going to buy a new HARD drive and I think that about 120 GB but I.m not sure if it works in my L20-182 (PSL2XE). The user manual says:
+ "Available in four sizes: 40, 60, 80 and 100 GB." Other drives may adopted in the future. "+ Is - anyone of you tried to put 120 GB? It work? Need BIOS update?

    wooytson

    Hello

The user manual says that you can use up to 100GB HDD for sure.
I think the tough have not been tested on this notebook L20 and it seems that we can only speculate whether it is possible or not.

The problem is that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. So not all HARD drive sizes are supported. In the worst cases, the BIOS does not recognize the HARD disc.

However, I think that you can test. There is a great chance that a 120 GB might work properly!

  • Satellite L20-182: after installing the OS only USB 1.1 not 2.0

Hello, I am an owner of the model Toshiba Satellite L20-182.
Recently I did a format disk and installed Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2.

Unfortunately, the system detects USB as a version 1.1.
I find anywhere USB 2.0 drivers.

    Could you help me?

    Hello

Why suggest that you have only the USB 1.1 and USB 2.0?

To my knowledge you will not find any special USB Toshiba drivers Toshiba page.
Each unit of Toshiba uses the current Microsoft Windows USB drivers and it s not necessary to install the special USB drivers.

I assume that you have installed the operating system from the original CD of Microsoft and not the Toshiba back CD. Am I wrong?
In this case you must install all Toshiba drivers that are available in the right order. The chipset utility is very important! Generally, the chipset must be installed at the first stage.

Please also check this Microsoft documents:

Availability of the updated Windows XP SP1 USB 1.1 and 2.0

When you install Windows XP Service Pack 2, the USB 2.0 drivers do not appear to be updated

  • Satellite L20-182: is it possible to upgrade processor?

Hello. I have a Toshiba Satellite L20 - 182 and I want to change the CPU.
My CPU is the Celeron M 380 (1.6 Ghz), and I want to install Pentium M.
    Can I do it?
If I can, can what Pentium M I install on my motherboard?
    Please answer me.

    Sebastian K., from the Poland

    Hello

Well, in general it of not possible to upgrade the processor.
Some processors are fixed mounted on the motherboard.
In addition, the processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a permanent connection method and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation

    Just for info:
I found some Satellite L20 units which are supplied with different processors.
    For example:
    Satellite L20-204 Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan) 750 1.86GHz
    Satellite L20-214 Intel-Pentium-M (Dothan) 740 1.73GHz
    Satellite L20-300 Intel-Celeron-M (Dothan) 370 1.5GHz

  • Satellite L20-182: recovery

    Hello

I was invited to recover a L20-182 of agonal State after maybe 2 or more years of use of my girlfriend and get data recovery. I mean, it's all the drivers and stuff that I have to install after formatting the hard drive and set up the operating system.

My computer has a recovery function that it restores to factory settings within minutes using a hidden partition data. Is this possible with Toshiba L20-182?
    If so, how?
If not, where can I get all the data if the backup has not been made or has been lost or used as a holder of makeup stuff or something else?

Thank you very much in advance;]

    Post edited by: bartsimpson

Past series of laptops were equipped with the recovery CD. The new generation of portable supports drive HARD recovery. This means that the image is stored on the HARD drive and you can restore it without the recovery CD. But there is also a possibility to burn the recovery image on the DVD.

However, you can also install your own Windows XP, and then you can download and install also the drivers of Toshiba.
Finally, you can use a 3rd party software, e.g. Norton Ghost to create a CD or an own image file.

But the other user is just that the recovery CD can be ordered on the Toshiba site as mentioned above.

  • Minipci WiFi on my Satellite L20 182?

    Hello!
I have Satellite L20 182 without wifi card, but I want to install a. I started minipci location but I put t know if I antenna pre-installed. When I ve looked under the guise of minipci slot. I found 2 wires (red and black), but they seem to be connected to something. Are they son form antenna?
If Yes, could someone explain to me how to install the card and what type of wifi card to buy, please?

No, it is not possible to update and use a minPCI wireless network card in this s notebook.
If you want to use WiFi technology and WiFi, then you must switch to an external solution such as a USB WiFi key.

There you can choose between different modes of WLan such as 802. 11A, B, G

  • Sam L20-101 or satellite M40X-231? Need your opinion

Hi, I'm looking for a laptop and I hesitate between the Satellite L20-101 and Satellite M40X-231. I am aware of the differences and would like to hear user experiences.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Well, I think, between these two units, there is no major differences. Both units have a size of drive HARD and similar memory. Only the graphics card has other performance. The L20 has a shared memory graphics card and the M40X has a graphics card with the chip memory own 64 MB. In this case, if you need this device for applications of high-performance graphics (games), I'd buy the M40X. Moreover, I like the nice design of M40X. She very nice unit s :)

    Good bye

  • How to run the installation on a 5 GB pcmcia hard drive, it does not start?

I have a computer dell laptop, which has a non-functional drive Bay, so I use a 5 GB kingston pcmcia hard drive. Recognizes the xp home installation cd and copy of files, only I does not start when the system is restarted, is it a boot disk to start just xp? The bios doesn't have the ability to start from pcmcia, only an ehernet PCMCIA.

Can I create a boot cd which recognises the pcmcia from the Setup disk, or add the driver pcmcia on a boot disk and which record a bootable CD?

    Hello

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

You have reached the right forum. Try to solve this problem together.

If I understand correctly, you are trying to install XP on a PCMCIA drive and the computer does not start after the installation files are copied during installation.

Since then trying to install XP to a PCMCIA drive and the computer does not start after the installation files are copied during installation. In addition, the BIOS has not an option to boot from PCMCIA readers. So basically, you will not be able to install XP on the PCMCIA drive.

Regarding the question on a boot disk, Microsoft provides no such discs. You will need to do a search online or in the stores of tech for such a disc, if it is available.

Warning: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. • Where is the "PCMCIA Bus driver" and how to uninstall it?

The menu Tools and Information on the performance said that "these drivers are causing Windows to resume slowly"-

    Name: PCMCIA Bus driver

    File name: pcmcia.sys

    Feature: Texas Instruments controller CardBus PCI - 8 x 12/7 x 12/6 x 12

Other posts on this forum, I understand that it is safe to uninstall this driver if it is not in use.  Unfortunately, I can't find.  I looked in Device Manager (there are two other devices Texas Instruments listed - or one has the correct device name).  I also looked in programs and features and menu of start-up of sysconfig with no luck.

My computer was crashing regularly about 10 minutes after waking up from hibernation.  My hope is that this driver uninstall will fix the problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems that the "Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller" device is the device you are looking for (the first two digits in 8 x 12, 7 x 12 and 6 x 12' is reduced to a "xx12' in the name of the device for simplicity). Try to disable it and see if your problem is solved.

Note: This device looks like it controls a card reader. It is a decive integrated on your CPU, where the floppy drive which reads flash memory cards (for example: SD card, Memory Stick, xD card, etc.).

    Hello

The manufacturer may not be putting the latest drivers on Windows Update again. Check with the manufacturer for the latest drivers for the devices.

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite L20-183: PCMCIA Pixelview Tuner does not work with 720 * 480

    I have the following problem:
I am the owner of a

Toshiba laptop Satellite L20-183 (1.6 Celeron, 512 MB Ram, Ati radeon Xpress Mobile X 200)

    I just bought a
Mobile TV Tuner PCMCIA (Prolink) Pixelview PlayTV havig the following specifications:
    http://www.ProLink.com.tw/English/products...ixelView%20Play TV%20Mobile.htm

as you can see it it says he works at the frame size PAL: 720 x 576; NTSC: 720 x 480

which is true, but not with my laptop
It is functional on a laptop HP Celeron 2.8 Mhz, 512 Ram and Ati 9100 IGP

on my laptop, it only works to the minimum framerate 320 * 288 (as I remember), but then the passage to the maximum framerate of 720 * 480 there are artifacts (horizontal lines) on the right size of the screen.

I say it again on a similar notebook (talk configuration) with ATI 9100 IGP it works perfectly at maximum framerate.

Someone told that can a card linked to overaly settings video problem, but it unlikely for me as long as lon semms as he worked on another laptop with ATI IGP 9100, which seems to be older than my video card. (By the way all the parameters and options are the same on two laptops)

    SOMEONE HELLLPPPPP!

    Hello
Check the BIOS on the toshiba. BIOS in the video settings, there should be a possibility to change the PAL or NTSC. If the value is NTSC I see problems that you described. So as if you right-click on the desktop and select Properties, click on the tab on the far right, a last and properties then go to advanced. Under these properties, it must have an option to NTSC or PAL. Make sure that PAL is thus selected here and see if that solves the problem. I hope this helps.
