  It is not easy to offer a solution to this. Satellite A300 is not supported with this problem and Linux, you're on your own.
  Check some Ubuntu forum. You're more likely to get good advice there.

  Otherwise, if Ubuntu works well you should be happy about it. This little problem shouldn't be that important to you.

• Boot with Win7 32 bit and Satellite L450-36 problems

  A friend has a laptop Toshiba Satellite L450-36 Windows 7 32-bit which he thinks has been hit by a Virus. He went to use the laptop a few weeks 3 + ago and concluded that it would not initialize.   I am retired and to my knowledge has been gained since the Commodore 64 days, then Amiga and PC now, but it isn't enough for me to fix this problem. I found very frustrating to be able to use a Linux program and see all the programs on the PC, but not actually being able to restart it, and start them! I could probably Boot & Nuke the hard drive, but my friend wasn't t provided with a disc of Windows 7 o/s system couldn t so re-installed without buying again.

  I would be very grateful for any advice on how to get rid of the HD1/FLOPPY/NEXT HD window and a solution for the portable computer so that it starts properly. I took pictures of different screens on the laptop that I could pass if they would help.

  In my opinion, you should remove the HARD drive and connect it to another computer and perform low level set in shape and just delete everything. You can use a tool like this and after doing this put back and try to install the original recovery image using the recovery disk.

  In the past I ve never had these problems, but I think it's the best way to remove all the viruses or malicious applications.

• Suspend problems in mode: don't wake up from sleep

  I just installed Windows 7 to my HTPC. Media Center is great!
  But I have a problem. When I put my computer to sleep he wakes more. In fact it isn't even sleep properly. It seems that everything is turned off but the graphics card.   My transactional includes:
  AMD Athlon 3200 +.
  Asus A8V - XE motherboard
  Kingston 2GB DDR
  GF 8600 GT 256 MB
  Seagate Barracuda SATA 250 GB (for BONES)
  WD Caviar 750 GB SATA (for data)

  Now, I found that it is the USB controller who refuses to go to sleep. There is a hidden feature in Windows 7 that you can use to find problems in the energy saving modes.

  In the command prompt, give a command:
  powercfg-energy
  and it will generate a report on the problems in your system. The report can be found at /Windows/System32/energy-report.html
  My report has revealed that there are two or three USB host that cannot be suspended correctly. After disabled USB support in the BIOS of the system had no problem in sleep. Of course I can't use USB devices more.
  Is there some kind of fix or tweak for Windows 7 USB drivers? Windows shows it has the latest drivers if I try to update.
  My motherboard is Asus A8V - XE, and there Via K8T890 chipset.

  Apparently it wasn't a USB socket that wasn't able to sleep but a USB device. I had a USB Memory Stick and the infrared receiver plugged and after removing their sleep works very well.

• vmrun suspend problem of VMware Player

  I've been using VMware workstation for a while but recently switched to VMware player 3.0, (largely because of the irritating instllation problems for Workstation 6.5.3 under Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64).

  With my computer, I use the vmrun command close all my virtual machines.

  Despite downloading the latest version of Vmware-vix (1.8.1), vmrun suspend & lt; path to the vmx file & gt; generates this error message:

  Unable to connect to the host

  Error: Type of Service VIX_SERVICEPROVIDER_VMWARE_WORKSTATION

  My reading of the documentation seemed to suggest that vmrun must work with the player as a workstation. Please could someone help me understand what ' I'm missing here?

• keyboard and mouse freeze, hang, do not work

  again, the question was better but once again tonight.

  I have windows xp pro, acer power non-portable pc, ps2 requires laser (not wireless) mouse.

  at random times and programs, they will work and the mouse may hang and then keyboard. Sometimes I can take the mouse out of the back and use it in another form. Sometimes he stop and go in that direction or not responded on the card, even if the light is on. I heard today 3 beeps of the tower and the keyboard and the mouse has frozen.  If the keyboard is blocked so the only thing I can do is turn it off and restart.   (1) can you try to start Firefox in Mode safe to see if Firefox works correctly without error? You can start Firefox in Mode safe below:

  • Windows/Mac: choose Help > restart with disabled modules
  • Linux: run firefox-safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole

• Satellite Z930 - suspend the problem with connected USB hard drive

  Owner of a newly acquired Satellite Z930-15 X, I have a few questions/problems:

  1) suspends the work of RAM and good hibernation when there is no external hard drive connected. If there is one is connected, the laptop immediately returns back to suspend state. Is there a solution for this?

  (2) is there a way to selectively disable Bluetooth? Currently, only toggle airplane mode is available (with Fn + F8 or Windows 8 charm bar). This activates / deactivates the Wi - Fi or Bluetooth I think.

  (3) the portable computer is wobbly on reception. I put a bit of thin paper at the corner of a bottom (bottom left) so that it can be stabilized. Apparently, the problem is also mentioned in another thread. Is there a suggestion to fhix this problem?

  1 / what HARD drive is connected to your laptop? When I use the external 2.5 HARD drive with my Satellite U940 I n t have problem.

  2 / I ve tested it on my machine and I noticed the same thing. When WIFI is disabled software BT is off too. I didn t find a way how to separately control adapter WLAN and BT.

  3 / I think that this issue needs to be clarified with Toshiba service. They must check and perhaps exchange rubbers inside.

• Satellite L450 - 18 d - language keyboard problem

  I have a Toshiba Satellite L450 - 18 d, which was purchased in England in May and then sent to me to Portugal, so I chose Portuguese as default language for my keyboard. However, for the last two weeks, I had this problem: since I installed Microsoft Office 2007 and the Office SP2 update, I had this curious situation with accents - instead of see only 1 focus whenever I click on a button, I see 2 accents (with one click).

  Something like this:
  "(1 click); ~ ~ (1 click); ´´´ (2 clicks) and so on. This is * huge *, _because we use a lot of accents in portuguese_ - for example, I should be able to write + português + (written in Notepad) and not + Português ^ ^ are +!

  Now, this does not occur when I use Notepad, but happens to all other programs (Office, Works, OpenOffice,...) and also in my browser (Mozilla Firefox). Is it possible that I can manually remove or manipulate focus associated with a specific key? I tried to change the default language of Brazilian Portuguese and uninstall Office 2007, but the problem remains... It would be associated with an update about Office?

  To be honest this really strange behavior...

  Interesting, it would be if you remove Microsoft Office if the problem still exists or not. If so, it seems to be related to Microsoft Office and therefore, you must contact Microsoft for the detailed response.

  Otherwise, you can check only the keyboard input language. Make sure that only one language is defined.

• Satellite Pro L450 - random overlay problem

  Strange on this naked with me.

  We have 17 of these laptops, specifically the L450 17R model all have this issue.

  When you stack the laptops... IE closed laptop on the desktop and then put another directly ontop. It will NOT turn on. If you move the portable laptop off the below or move thumb to the left right rear, or until it works!

  2nd weird question... Once the laptop is on, if you put the back ontop of the laptop of another the backlight turns off. Yet once you move the laptop an inch in either sense, or move the portable cela re works!

  Basically do not stack laptops is the solution... just a very strange problem, a kind of interference?

  Look man it s recommended, and not desirable for stacking books!
  Weight simple cell phones can affect s laptop cover and the screen.

  There are various sensors which turn on and off the screen when the lid is closed, and I think that the weight of the laptop that is lying on the first laptop could affect the sensor that turns off the screen
